- Welcome to a new season of Marathon Training in Kenya with Luis Orta! This year we bring you a ton of great new content from the Home of Champions: Iten, Kenya! In this season, we meet up with some of the huge groups that train together in Iten, joining them on long runs, medium long runs, fartleks, track workouts, easy runs, and more! We have some special guests, including Olympic medalist Paul Chelimo who was born and raised in Iten.
In this episode we vet our group of pacers to see where they are at, whether they’ll make the cut to help Luis for his training. We also start the trip off with a group of athletes we gathered from around the world for a Kenyan training experience of their own. We spent a week together exploring, learning, bonding, and of course training with the Kenyans. In the future we’ll be dropping an episode to recap their experience, but for now, we’re going to focus on Luis’s training. Pace 3 is super fast man... it like sprinting to me..
We'll start with an easy 1km @ 3.00. These guys are ANOTHER LEVEL
This is slightly faster than 30:00 10k pace.
My brain can understand why it would be an easy 1km for those guys but my body can't 😄
This is as close as it gets to being super human…. These gentleman are the most amazing runners this world has

Dude the way he Kenyan homie runs. His technique and stride looks surreal. Almost animated.
Just this hybrid of carefree relaxation and rock solid composure. And soo consistent. What a beast.
But you awesome too. You are not used to this program while these guys know it well. If you’d do this training regime for a while you’d be physically accustomed. Both of you rock.
I'm just a hobby runner but seeing the pros do it just makes it even more awesome. The amount of work and dedication.

This video was really good.And it saddens me to hear about the story of this stadium. It’s really a shame that our government has never built a proper stadium in this region ever since, and even the one under construction is still pending! But when they win the medals they rejoice like they ever contributed in anything! So sad indeed!

Many people do not know what high altitude training involves. I once travelled to a city with a high altitude and heavy sunshine. After two hours in the sun, I almost passed out.

It is my dream to run even one minute with the Kenyans in Iten on a dirt road.
I’ve added some of what they do into my own training and it produces great results but it’s the toughest workout I’ve ever done in my life.

You should purpose to visit the famous iten and famous slope Kerio of Kerio to see the sport behind the scene.
Government should consider spending and investing on all sports... Kamariny stadium in iten should be completed to offer the local and international athletes the ambient environment for training
