Thank you for this awesome presentation of our Tool! 👍
For those who are only interested in Disc detainer locks for now:
There is a disc detainer kit for about half the price of the disc detainer+dimple kit 😃
We are already working on more tips of course.
The tool comes already prepared (e. G. the big threads where the decoding shells are mounted) for more expansions such as Lever/Safe locks.

They make some amazing tools. I had some lovely people at MP help me with one of their opening kits (similar to the care taker kit) a while ago and they sure have some good minds on their design team. I wish they would bring back their ATT auto tensioner in a new revision.

New tools always take some getting used to. I guess you would have been faster with a regular pick in some cases. For a beginner however, this might be just the thing to get the open on locks which would be otherwise beyond them. Great demonstration of the whole variety of tools, all in one neat package. The price is probably super fair. It is too high for me, but I am a hobbyist and not using these for work.

This looks like an amazing tool and kit
    For Europeans.
Alternatively, dimple.and disk detainer type locks are rare in Canada and the US, and this tool will not help with wafer locks and straight pin tumblers that are the norm in North America.
Great presentation though. I would definitely want one of these if I saw more of those lock styles. But for now the only locks of that type I ever see are ones that I specifically order just to practice picking, and that is more fun with simpler classic tools.

    Oh!
No idea where my comment vanished too.
I love the idea of this pick, maybe quite time consuming for a Locksmith to keep swapping round. If a locksporter has the cash then well worth a purchase. Yes it is expensive but in truth you are getting an aweful lot from this kit.

For dimple locks, I’m curious how the picking experience compares with just using manual flag tools as sold by Multipick. What are the pros/cons of each picking approach. As for dic detainer locks, it would be nice to see a D style Abloy tip set.

    • @LockNoob
      @LockNoob  Год назад +1

It’s odd, if you are used to picking high security dimple locks, I’d say it takes some getting used to. But it also takes a lot of guesswork out of the process. If you are a professional wanting a reliable non-destructive entry method, then 2-1 tools are the way to go. For hobbyists, standard dimple flags

    • @thomaschipman

it kinda blows my mind that sparrows still haven't released a rear-tensioning disc detainer pick to complement their existing dd pick; just a simple, quality made rear tensioning dd pick. considering how well their original model sold, i always thought they'd release a version in short order. the closest thing they've released is the "abloy decoder." there have been cheap chinese models available forever; however, it would've been nice to see something of quality from sparrows. kudos to multipick for making this product, but like many of their tools, it is very much targeted to locksmiths. there is likely still considerable demand for a similar product priced for the hobbyist who has been avoiding the high price of existing custom made tools and waiting for something with better quality than the cheap offerings found on auction sites.

I review everything; I recently recommended a $20 pick set from HUK. For people wanting a high end tool with this capability, honestly compared to buying similar quality separate tools, this isn’t even expensive. Everyone has a different budget and needs and I try and cater for everyone. Remember, no one has to buy anything I review and I don’t make any money from sales
