Stayed there when it first opened. Didn't have a casino yet. Only one side of the hotel was open. The dining area was a small warehouse on the property at the time. But have stayed there many a time. Hawaii residents get a great package deal when staying at any of the Boyd properties.
My Grandparents took me to the Main Street for my 21st birthday. Grandpa bought me my first drink from the Boar heads bar. Then went back 4 or 5 times with them in my 20s. I love that place and have great memories. Grandparents can't travel anymore but I am going to send the link to your video. I think they will get a kick out of it. Thanks Ruby.
Me to Joey, prefer downtown. Though i don't get there as often as you do.(About 2 times a year) I do like main street station. I try to stay at 4 queens though, since they have no resort fees. Last trip visited Circa casino, though didn't stay there. Sportsbook and swim stadium all i can say is Wow.
I always stay downtown. My friends usually stay on the strip. One year, they joined me downtown and really enjoyed themselves, especially the Fremont Street Experience. I've seen it a hundred times but they had a blast! Plus all the street performers and artists and music acts. They told me it was more fun than the strip. Safer, too, because it's a mall with 24 hour security.
@@auntydaleI think I’m going to stay downtown this year at either circa or el Cortez in June. Ive always stayed on the srtrip from MGM to the Aria to New York New York. They’ve gotten too stingy with the games, the walking is too much for me at my age now and it’s gotten too posh yet ghetto at the same time. I’ve been watching these videos on downtown and it seems like so much fun. It reminds me of deep elum out here in Dallas. Everything’s in walking distance and not nearly as money gouging as the strip has become. More of everyday people and just a chill and outgoing environment.
Me and my gal are huge fans of Fremont street just love the live bands there's plenty to eat and drink and of course the over head light show, here's a tip on parking when visiting Fremont, park at Circa valet it's $25 flat rate, Thanks Ruby you're our Go To Gal for Vegas.
Glad to see the Main Street Station finally open once more and getting some love from Ruby. I stayed here a few years ago, and yeah, it’s older, but it’s really nice for what you pay for. Also, the Triple 777 brewery is awesome! Their happy-hour is totally worth it.
That's because before The Union Plaza and Main St. Station. It was the Train Station. Along with Greyhound Bus Station. Not many came by air during the 50's and 60's. But I was just a baby.
Happy to hear your good comments about MSS, we love it there! Been staying there for years, its our go to place, and we typically go to Vegas 3 or 4 times a year. We like it because the casino is less noisy and crowded, and the ceiling is high so its less smoky too. Obviously we like a more mellow Vegas experience. The staff there are the bomb, so nice and friendly, especially the bartenders and servers. They remember us and some of them have become our friends. The rooms aren’t fancy, but they are roomy, clean and we are fine with them. We don’t hang out in our room that much anyway! We use our players cards (and we are not high rollers!) and my hubby and I get free rooms - 4 free nights each every month! So it doesn’t take much to start getting comped rooms, just get a players card and use it. You also get discounts at the restaurants with your points. The buffet is good and Triple 7 has really good food, although the menu used to be better pre-pandemic, and their hours are still limited. We are hoping they get back to ‘normal’ hours soon! It is a short walk to get to the Cal and then Fremont street if you are looking for more ‘action’. Oh, and parking is free if you are staying there. Love the decor too. Really can’t say enough good things about Main St. Station!
Loved that you mentioned how quiet the rooms are! That is really important to me with staycations. Stayed at Golden Nugget and it was too loud. Heavy Bass playing past midnight at adjacent property. Thank you for another great review and I am interested in staying here!
Some times quiet is good! Bryan Christopher is a great success and fun to watch. Your site is so informative and fun. You and Mr. Ruby are at the top of the list and I enjoy your site so much. Always enjoyable and well done .
Always thought Main Street Station would be a good value, but I think $150.00 with fees is steeper than the true value you get. No in room coffee, pool is next door but closed for renovations, only one restaurant for lunch. Why pay resort fees, and get nothing for it. Yes, location is still close to Fremont, and all the other restaurants and sights. But, these resort fees are nothing but a rip off. What you are getting has always been included in the room fee before.
@@ronaldmason7053 agree with this, weekdays are always cheaper, and this will work for any Casino. And, i realize that the Casinos have been milking the resort fees for a long time, but they should be providing something of value for it. Perfect timing. My son booked us in at Main Street in November. Usually stay at the Nugget but have enjoyed the burgers at 777 several times. Thanks for timely review!
Really cute little dress you wore!! Bet Mr. Ruby really liked it! Thanks for that report on Main Street Station. I was wondering if you were going to show the Pool Room. Did you notice the strange paddle fans over the bar in the casino? Keep up the good work!!
I'm so glad Ruby that your showing these"lesser"hotel away from the strip.... Whilst there not really my cup of tea!,I do like to see you showcase them👌
The buffet there is the best for less money. It's steps from downtown a fremont street. The interior is darker, cooler, old time. It's cheaper gambling than most and it's easier to find your party when you want to. The rooms look comfortable, clean.
Dirt dog is my favorite! They have another location outside of ballys where all the shops are. You must try the Dave’s hot chicken spot there as well! 😍😍
I ask for a coffee maker when checking in at MSS, and they send one up, including free packets. Only one time there were no more available. We're always comped (been our main stay for several years) so no resort fee, plus free parking. We love the buffet, the rooms are comfy.
Next time we get to Vegas from Australia - SO want to stay at Main Street Station. I stayed at hotel end of Freemont - it was fine - but visited this hotel and loved the older style of it xx
What a cute dress you wore to the premiere! We love the 777, of course it used to be open more hours. I'd love to see you and Mr. Ruby do a visit to Casino Quest at Fashion Show mall. It's a great place to go to learn table games and the crew there is fantastic.
Girl, you keep my little heart happy when I'm missing Vegas. We're going back in October with my best friend and her husband and we can't wait to show them how we like to party, and I have a whole list of your recommendations to try! I love when you review off-strip, the big names are always grand and impressive but I love the charm and old school vibe in the hotels near or around Fremont. Great review as always, what a comfortable place.
Going to Vegas the week of the 23rd for the Bad Bunny Concert at allegiant stadium for my birthday 🎉 . Although I can’t gamble cause I ain’t 21 yet, the dining options you provide on your channel is amazing recommendations and I have so happy I’ll be able to try some of them out when the family goes. I’ve never stayed at Main Street Station but I really love the ambiance of the place.... it’s beautiful thank you Ruby and Mr Ruby for showing us round keep up the good work 🥰
Love main street station! The rooms are nice, the buffet is good and 777 brewery is awesome. 5 minutes away from the freemont street experience and freemont east. I sleep like a baby and I believe checkout is at noon! I partied until 3 am and still got 8 good hours of sleep before packing and checking out at 12 pm.
another great video, Ruby!....just an FYI, that was no ordinary pool table, that was once part of history, one of Winston Churchills snooker pool tables ;)
Thank you for making this video, I have only stayed at the Golden Nugget in Downtown and that was over 10 years ago! The last weeks of October were super expensive everywhere but I happen to get my hotel here for most of the week! Can’t wait to be there! Thank you so much again!
MSS used to be my absolute favorite spot downtown to stay. It's a little off FSE so the noise is tolerable, rooms are cheaper accordingly, and the table games were cheap and friendly. However, a few years ago they introduced their own resort fee and the pandemic hit them hard. Now their table limits are too high - when the tables are even open (usually only on weekends now), slots seem to be tighter, and the rooms aren't as clean as they used to be.
Ms. Ruby, WOW, you are looking very good in this video. I'm impressed with the Station. Your depiction of the food and fun is well received. Say Hi to Mr. Ruby.
Thanks for the review . I always enjoy my stays at Main Street Station . Bummed that 777 is only open for dinner . I have always enjoyed the buffet there also .
When I stayed at Main Street I loved being a short quick access to the casino. Buffet was great and there is such cool antiques. For my 50th I stayed there and I was able to buy packages for two of my friends and my husband because it was so reasonable. I had a blast. Downtown is super fun. 😊
We stayed there in November and it was like we were staying in a private club. Quite, peaceful and comfortable. Last 5 visits stayed at the Nugget which was fine but not as comfortable and sorta of hectic in comparison. Looking forward to next stay
I would stay at Main Street Station if I were downtown, it's kinda nice to be slightly off the Freemont Experience but close enough to be there with a rather short walk. Ruby looks like you're getting so close to 200k wow Let's go , so happy to see your channel grow. Keep on rocking it 👍👍💥
I love MSS! Some hints... high floor number, low room number if you like quiet, there is a freight train that rolls through around 3 am that sounds and feels like an earthquake. Odd room numbers face the Circa low room numbers face the highway.
I read the title of the video "...Cheapest Room..." and when you mentioned it was $150 my jaw hit the floor. Oh, I long for the days of yesteryear in Vegas!
DIRTDOG is my favorite hotdog place in Vegas.... I love the elote dog and the Red and Green dog... its really good... Probably the best hotdog ive tried.
Before COVID, I used to stay at Main Street Station for close to a month at a time almost fully comped. They had some pretty good video poker machines I would play. I would also play at the California, and my play there would also count towards my comp. The VP isn't as good at either properties now, but I wonder if they still comp as well as they used to. I believe my host's name was Gloria back then, she would always hook me up. The rooms kind of sucked, their window AC units were especially terrible. If staying there, make sure you get a room facing away from the sun if you want to stay cool. At least the hotel was clean, and their staff was super nice.
Interesting that you say it's quiet. That's not the experience I had. It wasn't because of FSE or the train; though when I stayed there Circa didn't exist so I could DEFINITELY hear Fremont. (Probably better now for sure.) I was in room 601 and the noise from the rooftop chiller units was crazy loud. Luckily they sold earplugs in the gift shop for $1. Having said that, I also love that property. Fun place with a friendly staff... Always enjoy it. Next time I'll just get a north facing room. ;)
Just got back from Vegas and it has really gone downhill. I have been there many many times over the years but now its all about milking as much $$ as they can. Fremont street has become a cesspool for the homeless and smells like pot and urine everywhere. $26 for 2 beers on Fremont St is ridiculous. I have stayed at the MSS a couple of times the rooms are old and dated and I enjoyed myself but the value is definitely gone. The rooms are ok but nothing special. I stayed at the Plaza this past week and for the money its a better value with more dining options and a better location. Sad to say this was more than likely my last trip to Vegas.... its just too damn expensive now.
Thanks for the review Ruby. I am booked for 3 night stay (Sunday-Tuesday) in mid-October. Paying $ 168 for 3 nights, plus resort fees and taxes. I got a B-Connected player's card for the Boyd properties in Fremont Street area last year. Haven't used the card yet, but I'm sure room deal will get even better after establishing gaming records with Boyd. I like the lower minimum bets on the craps tables (compared to the Strip) at Fremont Street. Looking forward to visit!
I set my mom up at The D, she HATED IT. Next time, Main Street and she was very happy except for one thing, no coffee. She had to walk across the bridge to the place upstairs in The Cal. They do open early.
777 restaurant was way, way better pre-shutdown -- it was open something like 11AM to 6AM and one of the best food options downtown, especially late-night. I was something of a regular. Since the shutdown, everything there has gone up in price and gotten worse. I no longer recommend the place to people. I've talked to some of the bosses there, and they said that they constantly have to move people that get the rooms on the side of the building that faces the freeway, due to noise concerns. It sounds like you were on the south-facing side, toward the Plaza, and it's good to hear that the room was quiet for you. I only stayed in the hotel there once, 10-12 years ago, and my only real complaint was that the ceilings were low, especially in the elevator area of my hotel floor. I'm 6'3", so I'm tall, but I don't normally have to worry about banging my head.
Thoughts on Main Street Station?
Would you stay here?
Going to!

We literally booked a room last night for 2 nights in late November. Now we're both super excited to explore the property
Seems like a really great looking relaxing place to stay. The buffet is plenty of food for me. Two thumbs up!

Next time I'll just get a north facing room. ;)
I jumped the freight train behind the plaza three times way back when. Back in my hobo days!
We had my mother's birthday party there..we LOVED IT....but we did not stay there...fun was had by all !!
I didn't know Main Street was this nice! Always avoided it but now I'm interested!
It was built in the late 70s. When I would stay downtown I’d stop by. Thanks ruby 👍🏼
Looking forward to visit!
omg I only stayed on Fremont street I love all the hustle and bustle
Oh.... hi! Your videos are just getting better and better.
I set my mom up at The D, she HATED IT.
Next time, Main Street and she was very happy except for one thing, no coffee.
She had to walk across the bridge to the place upstairs in The Cal. They do open early.
There's a piece of the Belin wall in the mens bathroom by the check in area. Fyi
Great video Ruby!
Thanks for all your reviews. You sound a little sick. Hope you're feeling better
Awesome review Ruby!
I like that place a lot. Nice video as always. By the way, Fremont Hotel also allows use of the Cal's pool. Great job!
The golden steer was amazing
