The CH-47 is so useful that the Aussies used their budget allocation for more C-27Js, to buy more CH-47Fs after their experiences with them in Afghanistan. They made the case to the Gov't that the CH-47s were actually more useful than the shorter C-130Hs and the smaller C-27Js in the battlefield. In the end, the Gov't decided to buy both CH-47s and more C-130J-30s. The sheer utility of the CH-47s even caused a re write of doctrine where the CH-47s took on the tactical support role of the old C-130H and newer C-27J models (which were the replacement for the Caribou), and the C-130J-30s took on the Theater support role. They can operate at much higher altitudes with heavier loads than the UH-60Ms, which struggled to carry more than four troops to mountain tops in Afghanistan. While I admire your enthusiasm, anything SOAR related is not likely to make its way into DCS any time soon. That's one of the reasons, as I understand it, why an AH-6 hasn't come to DCS despite being a simpler airframe than any other helo in DCS. What I like most is it's a fly-by-wire hybrid. In the real thing, it's mechanical input so the inputs feel like traditional helos but how it handles is different. Move the stick left and the Chinook moves left. Move the stick back to center and the Chinook stops moving left. No counter input to stop movement. Well, that’s all well and good if you don’t want to take advantage of the pre-order discount. It’s not a scam, and nobody is being forced to pre-order.
@@Mandatoryuser It won't be in any of those sales this year. I really don't understand why some people get so torqued about Early Access..bottom line, if you don't like EA then wait to purchase, but it seems very bad form to be telling others when they should, or should not, purchase a product. In fact it makes me just want to pre-purchase even more out of principle.
What you can do with your purchase is... nothing. You can wait for an actual product to show up. Right now, you're paying for the privilege of waiting. The pre-order "features list" doesn't actually promise you *anything*. The features promised are literally limited to "it'll have a 3d model, it'll fly, and there will be a cockpit". But there are no specific promised features. Will it actually have any logistics system? Who knows, it's not promised anywhere, so they don't really owe you much of anything. The video has a lot very conspicuously missing from it. You can't really see any avionics or displays actually working. They never shoot the guns, and it's not clear if they can be crewed, or if they just put the "camera" behind a non-functional model of the gunner station. Nothing actually is shown in the process of mounting or dismounting (or loading or unloading) the helicopter. The sling loads you show at around 1:38 are all the same object by the way: they're M119 105mm howitzers, just some are rotated to different angles. Interesting there's no humvees in that lift (to tow them once landed) or ammunition bundles. I wonder if anything else has been modeled for sling loading yet. Edit: Absolutely nothing of the fat cow fueling capability has been shown *in game* whatsoever. It's all theoretical at this point; we haven't seen it being done in the game, we haven't seen any 3d models of it, and the early access feature list doesn't include it (or anything else, really). Stop counting chickens before they've hatched; we have no reason to have any confidence that capability is or is not coming. Same for fastroping: we have seen zero indication it will be a capability in the game.
That was the aim of the video, what can the Chinook do in the real world verses what have we seen so far, which you could pose for any aircraft module in DCS. I'm certainly not expecting all of this to be there day one, some may take months/years, what I'm looking forward to is flying a Chinook in DCS, something we can't do not, barring Mods. In the Eagle Dynamics info this is what they say: Highly detailed external and internal modelling, including cockpit and cargo hold - Good Unmatched helicopter flight dynamics that only DCS can provide - At the moment the Miltech version in MSFS isn't right, so I hope this gets it right first time! Fully interactive, VR-ready cockpit - I fly VR Full set of features will be announced prior to early access release - I can live with that

I don't think that the regular ch47 has the capability to refuel mid air. Also I don't think the gun is accurate, the only gun I've seen mounted are the m240 for the CH version.
the 160TH SP use a moddified version of the CH-47F that can have bigger side fuel tanks and the air refuel capability, all their systems are made for their mostly night hot drops and special ops, they also use miniguns. aka the cool shit
I’m sure it’s something they looked at but the constraints could be the information that’s available to them. I’m no software guy but creating a D model for example from the F I’d say is possible, physically they’re very similar, some may not even notice the differences. The cockpit and how it flies (Analogue AFCS) would be the challenge I think.
There’s no legitimate use for this module AT PRESENT apart from learning to operate/fly. I’m not paying ED for development time as they work out a use for this over months years. I’m tired of DCS pre-order BS
I love the chinook. I built some in stormworks, flyout and flew the shit out of it in Arma 2 and 3 and I'd love to fly it in DCS, but as things stands, it is useless without CTLD, MIST, and even then, it just feels VERY HALF BAKED. I would've instantly bought it a couple of years ago when I still had faith in ED fixing core game mechanics, but right now, honestly, I'd feel like an idiot for spending another dollar in the newest shiny thing while I see no significant work being done in the modules I already own (F/A-18, UH-1H, Supercarrier, Combined Arms), and the core game itself... If someday ED decides to treat me with some respect and resume working on the features they reneged, then this will definitely be a MUST HAVE for me... For now, I'm really tired of getting crumbs.
So you're taking Razbam's side. OK, great. But we don't know what really happened. The other third-party developers don't have any problems. So it could also be that Razbam didn't do their job and therefore didn't get paid. The thing is. We don't know.
@MrDagobert666 Razbam didn't get paid for any module for the last 9 months. In the meantime, they provided support for current modules, delivered F-15E and regular improvements on this module. So no matter what the matter is, not paying Razbam out of proportion and it's a death sentence. The F-15E was a solid early access launch with good follow-on updates, the sales were probably very successful and Razbam didn't get paid for it.
like mrdagobert666 said you have no idea what happened nobody but ED an razbam know that ED didn't just not pay them if that's even what happened for no reason infact ED said razbam did not adhere to the contract . so are you going to back a side that breaks the rules then complains about the consequences. you only back razbams side because that's all you've heard . an that's another failing on razbams part the public should never have been told the private dealings of a contract ever. shody business practices an careless PR like dealing with a fargone child packing a tantrum

I have always been fascinated by this chopper, but I'm very much on the fence about buying this module. I've become slightly jaded from buying early access modules in the past. I'm just not sure what I can do with this chopper in dcs world.
Please stop falling for these scams. Just stop pre-ordering and buy it when it's out.
Well, that’s all well and good if you don’t want to take advantage of the pre-order discount. It’s not a scam, and nobody is being forced to pre-order.
I'm getting it regardless, so buying at a 30% discount seems like a good idea to me. Personal choice.
@@pauljrixthe pre order sale that will also be the summer sale and Christmas sale?
@@Mandatoryuser It won't be in any of those sales this year. I really don't understand why some people get so torqued about Early Access..bottom line, if you don't like EA then wait to purchase, but it seems very bad form to be telling others when they should, or should not, purchase a product. In fact it makes me just want to pre-purchase even more out of principle.
Same preorder discount 1 day before release. I'll be doing that so ED have more time to showcase why we should preorder it
Yeah, let's see the new logistics system first.
I want to see a ch47 mission of extracting the hind
I hope the avionics are realistic
dcs need alot fixes frst, last important is modules😢
Nice video.
Not preordering. Also as of now, since i have the Huey and only play multiplayer, the only real advantage i see is a faster speed.
But what can you do with it... when the enemy ground AI is laser accurate because it's ancient code from Lock On?
The same stuff you do in the Huey or Mi-8, just better, faster and higher! 😇
FASTEST PRODUCTION HELICOPTER IN THE WORLD! 🤘
Nice now even bluefor have a better transport heli than redfor...and outclasses them on everything
In the Eagle Dynamics info this is what they say:
Highly detailed external and internal modelling, including cockpit and cargo hold - Good
Unmatched helicopter flight dynamics that only DCS can provide - At the moment the Miltech version in MSFS isn't right, so I hope this gets it right first time!
Fully interactive, VR-ready cockpit - I fly VR
Full set of features will be announced prior to early access release - I can live with that
160th isnt using a CH-47F, its using MH-47G
Correct, but there may be Mod options?
I’m excited for the chinook but I’m feeling a lot of red flags about this release. I’m sure it’ll be great eventually but I’m betting on rough release.
Hello! What the red flags are for you? Im mostly concerned that there is not a proper logistics system for it to be used in its max potential.
@@ankilo5519 m60 in the window of an F model. The cautions displayed on one of the screens while it running imply the systems aren’t worked out yet. There was at least one typographical error on a panel. I’ve flown CH-46s and sat in a few 47s but never flew one. But somethings that are hard to put a finger on didn’t look right. Taken with the Razbam ED payment Drama and the weird release model they have for Afghanistan I’m worried they’re in financial trouble and rushing this one out the door. This does not look like it’s two months from release. I hate to say it because it’s rude but it’s either going to be a train wreck or they are planning on delaying the release already. I’m going to wait for this one to be reviewed before buying. Apache, Hind, and Mosquito have all been good releases so hopefully I’m wrong.
@@ankilo5519 I’m sorry I answered your question but my post was deleted and I have no idea why! I didn’t say anything rude or inappropriate so I don’t know how to edit it for approval. But if your scroll down someone makes some legit criticisms that were similar to mine.

Anyways thanks for answering althoug it was deleted haha
@@Fred-rv2tu - No edits from me (OP), maybe a YT thing?
I don't see the point in buying this when the embarking never seems to work in this game.
Take my money
i highly doubt we will get any special forces capability as these are representing the majority of the chinooks in the majority of armies
SF cabs don't have to be the fat tank, AAR models, an F model can do most of the work but I get your point. Maybe the modders will do something.
I don't think that the regular ch47 has the capability to refuel mid air. Also I don't think the gun is accurate, the only gun I've seen mounted are the m240 for the CH version.
Yeah I’ve seen M240s for the door guns but on the RAF Chinooks they do have an M-60 for the rear door gun. I don’t know if that’s the same in the U.S.
the 160TH SP use a moddified version of the CH-47F that can have bigger side fuel tanks and the air refuel capability, all their systems are made for their mostly night hot drops and special ops, they also use miniguns. aka the cool shit
Sorry Im not going to have a Hip fly for the US Army. We need a blue heavy cargo helo. also need a CH-53 for the Marines
US used them to supply troops in Afghan and several NATO partners operate them.
Why a glass cockpit when an earlier variant would fit with more battlefield… from Vietnam to today’s environments!!
Pronounced shee-noo'k :)
No it’s Cab. 😀
Expect Disappointment
2 reasons not to buy:
- pre-order now, we'll tell you the features later !!!
- I'm not buying anything until they ED pay Razbam what they owe them.
Literally just a big Huey in terms of what you can do with it in DCS. It doesn't really bring anything special to the game.
jesus..........................................
ED is famous for teasing things that takes years and years to appear or never appear …. It is extremely poor.
