I don't have a guitar teacher anymore because he was charging me $40 an hour and I learned more from your videos than from him so I let him go. THANKS!!! :)
Thanks so much! 🥰 I'm really glad these tips were helpful for you and would recommend checking out my new Practice With Me series that I'm currently growing if you need more help with those chord transitions! 🤗 ruclips.net/p/PLj0QZIx4bc7xy6MzHcdvWBl1_mmmpyfT9
Thank you.I'm an almost 30years old African lady who only just started learning guitar last year.I thought I was too old to start but I told myself I would rather try cos I love it,I take classes but your channel has been more than helpful.
am an old guy too and i learn everything from youtube. good thing about youtube is you can learn from someone no matter how young or old he/she is without hesitation lol,, and you guys can go to my channel how see my playing is not that bad even though i still need to work on lot of stuffs,,so yea never give up and never too old, unless you want to be a pro, that's gonna take some extra job for old people lol
U are such an awesome teacher, I love how calm & soothing u are. I have anxiety & I have gotten very frustrated watching other videos. They gave me sensory overload. I have been learning since March, I know a ton of chord.. the easy part. Transitioning is the not so easy part, thank u so much!🙂
I'm 66, just started to play. Always wanted to play. Thanks to instructors like you, Lauren and a few others here in utube, I'm able to achieve a dream cinevtrue and get to watch a beautiful smart young woman thank you and your calm demeanor 😂
This is Luis from Chile. I like this exercise a lot. I am going today to start it. I am 63 years old and never it is too late for learning new and a good technic. Congratulations. Be and stay safe.
Wow! Thanks Ellen 😀 learnt so much in these 15 to 17 mins, was struggling in cord switchin. But after practising using your tips... G C D E switch have become natural... Thanks once again 😁
This tutorial is fantastic! I love the metronome method that you suggest for building muscle memory of chord placement. Thanks for sharing these helpful tips, as I am trying to learn to play guitar on my own...looking forward to the days when I can follow you on your Taylor Swift song cover tutorials! 😊
You are the motivation behind learning guitar for me. I saw your video by mistake one year back. You made it look so simple that I decided to learn. I am still learning and hope that i will be able to play soon. Thanks a lot .
Wow! Love the way you slowly take us thru step by step progressively rather than rushing thru. You cover all the pain points of a beginner and make us feel comfortable in the process.. 🌟
Thanks Ellen. This lesson has really helped me the most in learning how to practice especially after finding out how much an online metronome can be used in chord change and picking practice.
This is so helpful! So many of us fizzle out at this stage because we can't get past the hump of changing chords in tempo. I'm a subscriber, you betcha!
Thank you so much. I’ve only had 4 lessons and your video has helped me as much as the lessons. I am 69 years old, and I’m “getting it”...I have enjoyed this video and will watch more of yours, as I go along.
I've seen SO many videos on chord transitioning and this is the one that's actually brought me real improvement for the first time in weeks. Thank you so much!
hi ellan, i also lioston luara batesman fro boston, she also is self taught, you and her a so very much similar to each other, i find that you both back each other up in your teaching method. i also take lesson from a music school, between the three of you , the understanding is getting clearer by the week. i am on my 5 lesson coming up next week. although im watching a video from feb 2015, today it the 6 march 2022. love your work and teasching style, awesome work, snd awesome voice.
Thanks so much for including my videos in your learning process! 🤗 I'm really glad to hear you're getting the hang of it so quickly, and am wishing you the best of luck on your journey! 🎸🎶
I Like your teaching style of teaching. I am a bit past this stage but those transitioning tips are awesome. I am gonna watch more of your videos if there are more . Thank-you Young Lady. This helped me a great deal .Now more practice :)
Practicing really is key! You start getting better without noticing (muscle memory) it really is so cool. Your method is so useful especially when you’re practicing with different chords
Your tutorial is the best. especially for us beginners. I feel like its easy to learn from you with your voice that is so clear. and your teaching is on point. Thank you so much. have to start practicing using the metronome :D
hi, Ellen... I am a beginner in guitar... I started from level zero without lesson, all your video helped me a lot, I had subscribed to your channel for some time now and I wanted to let you know that I watched alllll your TMT videos and many of the songs videos that you made. I want to encourage you to continue to make more videos to help more people like me... I like how your video is so meticulous from which strings to strum on which note to step by step strumming... I have improved to be able to play a few simple songs. however my strumming still sucks after much practice, I always made mistakes or missed a up or down stroke during the song and my friend told me that my wrist and fingers are not relax enough. Could you make a video on strumming maybe like TMT #9 or something to help me and some others who is struggling with strumming. Thank you very much.
loved the tutorial. It makes sense to do it with metronome and that to with a periodical break to memorise and think what chords you are gonna play next and the finger placement. Thank you for the lesson.
I just wanted to say that I think you are doing a wonderful job teaching the basic fundamentals of guitar playing. One recommendation that I would make to you is to use the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th fingers for your G chord. The reason is to be able to quickly move to the G7 chord if needed such as in the old song "La Bamba" (C, F, G, G7, C, F, G) 7th chords are generally transitional chords between two chords. This may be a little advanced for this lesson, but I just wanted to throw in my two cents.
Of all of the beginner guitar tips for this that I have heard or been practicing - this has been the most helpful video of all! GREAT exercises in this video! Thanks! Nice work :)
I have been learning to play the guitar for approximately five weeks and loving it. something I have always wanted to do and finally decided to learn and having great fun. The tutorial is very good as it has given me an insight to improve my technique regarding playing chords, so a big thank you.
This is really great. I'm just starting out and your video and teaching method are so clear and helpful. I now have a clear and simple practice method to follow each day. Absolutely spot on.
Thanks so much for your lessons. I'm understanding a lot easier then other videos I watched. Definitely subscribing to your channel! You are so great at explaining and answering all my pondering questions.
Excellent tutorial. Thank you for teaching us this simple way to practice. I am having difficulty changing chords quickly and have no metronome. Do you have a suggestion for one online that I could use?
You"re a good Teacher I"m a beginner and you really break it down and go at a nice slow pace!! Thank You for you"re help and I hope to see more instruction Videos with you!!.
Thank You! This is helpful for those like me struggling to transition between chords. I will continue to check your videos out & encourage other new guitar players to tune in & subscribe.
You are so awesome, I just started learning guitar, I can almost play "Closer" now, thanks to your tutorial. I find your teaching extremely useful. Keep up the awesome work! Looking forward to learning more popular pop songs from you in the near future!! :)
Another person who plays open G with the third finger. I always place my pinky on the high G note. But you are right that with enough practice you will be able to grab any common chord instantly
Nice lessons. Although i have been learning for 2 month now, i managed to find out ways to help myself with chords transitions, and you have mentioned them. Only new one was with the metronome.
I wanted to say thank u so much i've already learned a lot from u and now i can sing and play my favorite songs with my guitar thanks to u Thank u again ❤
Fantastic class, probably one of the best I’ve had, wish I would have come across this lesson a lot sooner great job keep up the good work and thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much for the tips! You are a great teacher, I love learning from you :) You can tell you put so much time, thought, and effort into making these videos. It's appreciated :)
I used to do the G the way you do and a friend thaught me that the better way is to use the last 3 fingers. If you use your little finger instead for the G chord it is easier for the transitions and it is much faster once you acquire the muscle memory for it.
You are a natural teacher. Inspired me to try again after giving up. Not easy at 74 but we all need challenges.
I don't have a guitar teacher anymore because he was charging me $40 an hour and I learned more from your videos than from him so I let him go. THANKS!!! :)
Me who pays 720 every year for 1, 45 minute lesson every 2 weeks
