Hi bros! Greetings from Poland. Yes, I'm Roman Catholic and love Anglican Unscripted. Mary can never be on equal par or higher than Jesus our Lord. We believe that she intercedes for us at our Saviour Jesus Christ. We seek her prayers and protection on our journery to heaven. Pope Francis should know she is our Mother NOT Sister. I love you both and rarely miss your episodes. I love Brett Murphy and support him and his family through this difficult time. I often tuned in the the services in Morcambe. See you again next week.

Didnt Mary die? Cant see any point in praying to a dead person. (Refer to your bible for more info on the prohibition if contacting the dead).
However, as Jesus rose again and is still alive, praying to Him and his Father makes absolute sense. Mary, no.

At 44:57 I'm in full agreement with you. I was raised Methodist, then began attending Episcopal services, before ultimately becoming Catholic. I, like many practicing Catholics, have reconciled my love for the Catholic faith to my underlying fundamentalism, rejecting anything contrary to scripture.

    • @wemuk5170

I have no problem with RCs and believe that some are saved if their hope & salvation is in Christ alone (Mary is no sinless Co-redemtrix redeeming them) whatever secondary doctrines they may believe. But Matthew 1:24-25 is a direct contradiction to the perpetual virginity teaching and psalm 14, 53 and Romans 3 teach that all have sinned and no one is good since Adam fell.
Mary therefore has to be a sinner unless one ignores the clear teachings of Scripture. What Scripture informs cannot be contradicted by what may be purportedly implied or inferred by the popes. Nor can any pope be infallible by virtue of those same Scripture verses on universal sin. Except Christ which Scripture declares to be without sin.

    • @RichardDCook
      @RichardDCook 2 месяца назад

@@wemuk5170 Exactly so. I do reject Papal Infallibility due to the obvious truth that no human is infallible. However fundamentalists do claim infallibility for a number of humans, which I also reject, those being the writers of the New Testament. The claim that their infallibility is due to them being guided by God could equally be claimed by (or for) any other human including a Pope.

I’ve been a Baptist and a conservative Presbyterian, the more I see of denominations that have Bishops (Methodists, Episcopal, Anglican) and what happens when you get bad ones and apparently can’t get rid of them the more I question why you would want to be in that kind of denomination. Not saying the others don’t have problems but you can usually get rid of them.

Thank you for your kind presentation of Mary and my Catholic Church. You are Anglican and are presenting your Reformation theology. Catholics hold that salvation is from Christ alone. Mary, as Mother of God and Queen, subordinate to Jesus, holds the highest place of vernation, not adoration. She, as our Mother, intercedes for us at the throne of our Saviour and Lord Jesus. We seek her prayers and protection on our journery to heaven. May she lead us closer to Jesus now and at the hour of our death. Amen

Read John 21:25 if you hold Scripture alone. Re intercession of the saints, if you hold that is not right, why do you ask other to pray for you? Mary is, if you will, the leader of the prayer group. She joins us in our prayer for our needs and others. Don't ask your church to pray for you if you don't want the intercession of others. Just pray alone through Jesus and be done with it.

Does the U.S. involvement in the Ukraine have anything to do with the past activities of Biden's son in the Ukraine? Can it be said the Putin was eager to get involved in the way that the ethnic Russians were being treated in the Donetsk region? Has everybody forgotten that the admittedly corrupt government in Kiev had been waging a civil war with the ethnic Russians for eight or nine years before Putin got involved? Does not the way the Ukraine Church under the Russian patriarch is being treated confirm a prejudice, distain, bias against Ukrainians of Russian ethnicity?

It is a grand gothic cathedra-esque building, indeed carrying the well deserved nick-name "The Cathedral of The Peak". I used to be in the same Deanery as that church when I was Team Rector in Buxton. It is in a very high, cold, wet place and it needs a good heating system. As a Catholic I can tell you that nobody in his right mind would have a problem calling Mary our sister in the faith, because she is that. I think the upset may be that she is often called Mother Mary; it is her motherhood of the Lord that is emphasized, and since Jesus is our brother she is also our mother in that way as well as at the cross, there being ZERO siblings of Jesus to take care of Mary, she was, quite sensibly given to John, and since she was called by Christ from the cross: Woman, in reference to Eve, and John called the disciple, in reference to disciples generally, it is taken that she is now mother of all the disciples. There are all kinds of ways to think and all kinds of titles used for her, sister is just triggering to some because Francis is kind of a troll.
As for the co-redemptrix thing, that's a theological construct espoused by some in which Mary's suffering at the time she was there at the cross with Jesus was united to His passion and cross, in full surrender of all to the will of the Father. My understanding of it is that it is not somehow that she saved anything, but that she offered herself with Christ. Inasmuch as Christ this very day allows and in fact expects all Christians to unite their own sufferings to His One and only redemption of us on the cross. This is inherent in "picking up your cross every day" as Jesus said. Since the head, Jesus is crucified, so the body, the church. Inasmuch as we unite our suffering to His, we do indeed fill up as St. Paul says, that which was lacking in His offering. This is because ONLY WE as individuals can offer our crosses to the Lord, that is what Paul refers to, since in fact nothing is lacking in His perfect sacrifice on His part. In that sense, her suffering was redemptive as is ours. He allows us to tack it on His work. He calls us each to be another Christ.

The virgin birth and immaculate conception are two different things. The Immaculate Conception is the belief that the Mary was conceived and born without the stain of original sin, it has nothing to do with whether she ever had sex. She boar her son, God the Son, so is obviously the God Bearer. As such, blessed among women and graced with a unique role in bringing about our salvation by contributing her flesh/DNA to Jesus and carrying God in her body. Staggering thought! As for Francis using the term sister, Jesus is called our brother is He not? We are adopted heirs of God the Father. Yet Jesus is also God and Lord. Mary, is an adopted child of God saved through Christ, therefore our sister, yet also the mother of our Lord and appointed by Him (says the Church of Rome) to be our mother too. She is both. This shouldn't be causing any sort of storm - except that anything Francis says is parsed for the least charitable interpretation.

Obviously she is not adored by Catholics. I honour her as the earthly mother of Jesus. He would have learned from her the stories of his Jewish heritage as all Jewish mothers traditionally performed this task. In John’s gospel Jesus worked his first ‘sign’ or miracle at her remark, “They have no wine”. Jesus acted upon her statement which wasn’t a request even though ‘ His hour had not come’. She was so confident He would act on her observation that Mary told the servants to do exactly what Jesus said. Of course I ask God directly in the name of Jesus for needs - I also ask Mary on occasion to join her prayer with mine. I see nothing wrong with that and I shall continue as it bears fruit!

    1. George at 40:24-36: "Traditionally Catholics have taken that from the passage in the Gospel where Jesus on the cross and says to the beloved disciple John 'behold MY mother'.
Response: John 19:26-27 (KJV): When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, "Woman, behold thy son!" Then He said to the disciple, “Behold YOUR mother!” And from that hour that disciple took her to his own home.
    2. George at 41:03-23: "Francis, in summing up, said that we need to follow Mary, our sister in the faith, leading the way, not our mother in the faith, not the mother of us all, but our sister in the faith which is a mainstream Anglican understanding."
    Response:
    A. Matthew 12:50 (KJV): "For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my BROTHER, and SISTER, and MOTHER."
    B. Luke 11:27-28 (KJV): And it came to pass, as he spake these things, a certain woman of the company lifted up her voice, and said unto him, "Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the paps which thou hast sucked." But he said, "Yea rather, BLESSED ARE THEY THAT HEAR THE WORD OF GOD, AND KEEP IT."
    C. Luke 1:39-48: And Mary arose in those days, and went into the hill country with haste, into a city of Juda; And entered into the house of Zacharias, and saluted Elisabeth. And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost: And she spake out with a loud voice, and said, "Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb. And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? For, lo, as soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded in mine ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy. AND BLESSED IS SHE THAT BELIEVED: FOR THERE SHALL BE A PERFORMANCE OF THOSE THINGS WHICH WERE TOLD HER FROM THE LORD." And Mary said, "My soul doth magnify the Lord, And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour. For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: FOR BEHOLD, FROM HENCEFORTH ALL GENERATIONS SHALL CALL ME BLESSED."

Pope Paul VI called her our SISTER in an Apostolic Constitution in 1973, saying:
“Mary in fact is one of our race, a true daughter of Eve; though free of that mother’s sin. And truly our sister, who as a poor and humble woman fully shared our lot.”
Traditionalists lost the plot DECADES ago, Francis has said NOTHING NEW here.
Pope Francis acknowledges that Mary is our Mother, and he created a feast day commemorating her as Mary, Mother of the Church in 2018. This isn’t an either/or thing, she is mother and she is sister. These traditionalists are uncharitable in their interpretation of the Holy Father’s every sentence. Anglicans are not "sola scriptura". The ACNA believes in Scripture and the first 5 centuries of the ecumenical councils(tradition). The Assumption of Mary was believed as early as the 5th century and the earliest teahings. Revelation 12 depicts Mary as reigning in heaven as fully glorified which is our destiny as believers. Read the Catechism of the Catholic Church to learn the truth of what she believes. It clearly states that we are saved only through the saving of Jesus Christ on the Cross. FYI, both Luther and Calvin believed in the perpetual virginity of Mary.

Article 6 of the 39 Articles pretty much summarises sola scriptura:
"Holy Scripture containeth all things necessary to salvation: so that whatsoever is not read therein, nor may be proved thereby, is not to be required of any man, that it should be believed as an article of the Faith, or be thought requisite or necessary to salvation."
Councils, being man made are, unlike Scripture, fallible. Nor does it matter what men believe, our authority is Scripture & Scripture speaks of Jesus' brothers & sisters in a way that makes it clear they were children of Mary.
The cult of Mary did appear quite early, but has no basis in Scripture. Revelation 12 is talking of the Church, the Bride of Christ, not Mary.

      1. Thank you for the courtesy of your reply, the content of which is consistent with Roman Catholic tradition.
      2. In the first two stanzas of 13th century Latin hymn 'Stabat Mater Dolorosa', Mary, the mother of Jesus, at the foot of the cross receives a sword of sorrow and anguish into her heart from her Son, thereby linking the Crucified Saviour with the sword:
"At the cross her station keeping,
      Stood the mournful Mother weeping,
Close to Jesus to the last.
Through her heart, His sorrow sharing,
      All His bitter anguish bearing,
Now at length the sword had pass'd."

'The defendant asked me to put forward his apologies to the court and he says he is embarrassed by his behaviour and he is ashamed by it," he said."He wants to apologise to his family and friends and his wife who don't deserve this."

Your comments about the many morally questionable aspects of Ukraine's government and other authorities are a welcome moderator to the simplistic good-guys (Ukraine) versus bad-guys (Russia) perspective taken by most Western news outlets and analysis. Even a Ukrainian nurse whom I met around a year ago complained about that perspective, saying that the subject is far more complicated than is generally reported in the West. And that is NOT to imply that Russia's invasion is anything other than barbarous and reprehensible.
However, the story about Mrs Zelensky's Bugatti has been widely discredited. Reuters, fullfact, and factcheck, are just three of many organisations that report the story as originating in a Russian-run disinformation website. Moreover, and as the last of these three organisations recounts in some detail, the Paris-based car dealership ostensibly involved has vehemently asserted the falsity of the story, with back-up documentation and critiques of the paperwork that purports to prove the purchase.
The Russians have always been masters of disinformation. (I speak as a Russophile, at least as far as literature, music and architecture are concerned.) It took me about five minutes to check-out the veracity of this Bugatti story; and it quickly became obvious that it is, at the very least, questionable -- the latest in a long line of slurs (mostly discredited) implying personal enrichment by the Zelenskys. So it would be better to report the story as a claim rather than a fact. If we present such misinformation as fact, we play into the Russians' hands and join the long line of those whom the Russians and others call "useful idiots."
That said, it is sadly true that in Ukraine corruption is endemic and profoundly embedded. The Ukrainian nurse I spoke to admitted as much.

Miriam (Mary) is actually crucial to God's plan of salvation. Because Yeshua (Jesus) birth is not through a human paternal line. The vital lineage comes through Miriam...she combines the lines of Aaron the High Priest through Zadok from her Mother Anna Joseph the suffering Messiah through Omri King of Ephraim, and King David through her father Joachim. So Miriam is actually a princess of Israel from royal and priestly lineage. Miriam was selected by God very carefully to bring all these lines together into his son Yeshua. So protestants and catholics alike should venerate God's choice in Miriam.

Kevin please try to have SOME respect when talking of the Panagia, don't just say 'Mary' for goodness sake. Say 'Mother of God' or 'All Holy' or 'Our Lady' or 'Blessed Virgin' or 'Holy Mary' or some such.
On the subject, Kevin stated she is the 'Mother of Jesus', (I think he means the LORD Jesus CHRIST, but with Kevin, who knows?) - so she is but - OVER AND ABOVE anything she is MOTHER OF GOD, why did Kevin never use that title? Anyone who denies that she is the Theotokos is NOT a Christian as they therefore deny Christ. Insisting on 'Mother of Jesus' to the exclusion of 'Mother of God' is heresy, as taught since the Council of Ephesus.

Unfortunately there is no ready solution to this issue. Those who believe the RC church speaks infallibly will hold to one view. Those who are of the "prima scriptural" -- the Anglican way which is not sola scriptural which some allege -- viewpoint will see the excessive adulation of Mary as idolatry. The key words are excessive adulation -- some who object to the Anglican way say it is all or nothing -- the four Marian dogmas, putting her between the believer and God as a mediator and so forth -- when it is a rejection of the first part.

Luke’s gospel was written between 80 and 110 AD. Paul died between 60 and 65 AD. At this time this is the commonly held scholarly consensus. But these dates ate not set in stone. Paul’s death is pretty tightly bound by the persecutions of the Claudian emperors. The thinking at present is that Luke drew upon Mark and other sources

You are unfair to Bishop Lane, and perhaps abusive in calling her ‘dumb’. She is required to obtain safeguarding clearance before making any appointment, and to act with regard to that advice. In relation to the fabric of churches she has no formal role. She would not be able to sit on the diocesan fabric committee, which offers advice to parishes.
