@@meMiner I was born in the U.P. and my great grandpa in Houghton used to take me out when I was a little guy. We would troll with the steel line also. We would use single hook daredevils with cut suckerbait. He had a cage at the end of his dock he kept his suckers in. He called it "chugging" because you would pump the wood line holder every once in awhile to give it more action. Those were the days. Lake Superior never disappointed us. Fishing is one of my other hobby's too! I live downstate now and mostly fish walleye and perch. Great to get the kids out fishing! Good job!! Thanks again for the video and all your hard work putting videos together!
That is exactly the way we fished in northern Ontario. All day hand jerking the steel or copper line to make the lure spin (usually a William's Wabler) and a piece of fish on the hook for taste.
Making time for family! That's what's up! I'm working on a video where my little guy and I get out agate hunting, it makes the hobby much more enjoyable when you can share it!!
Amy, like sunshine on a cloudy day. Mine just turned 21, still lives with us, going to school and coaches a high school color guard. A daughter in your life is a beautiful thing. You guys stay awesome.,
I have salmon fished on Ontario and Huron. It was a good time. I was hoping to give Amy the same experience. Might have to take her out closer to home.
Now I want to go fishing, I have a nice ( sort of) secret fishing spot just outside of the quaint little town of Paris where I catch tasty Smallmouth Bass and have absolutely delicious shore lunches . Awesome video Greig and you'll get em next time Amy .
I must totally agree with your comment, I've been subscribed for a few years and have seen quite a few awesome videos of Greig and Amy spending wonderful family moments together. If I was told that I had to unsubscribe from every channel except one , Greigs would be the one channel that I would keep .( sorry everyone else) .
Nothing wrong with sunfish and catfish, but I think there is something special about trout. Amy has caught lake trout through the ice, so this was a fun way for her to try. Especially when there was the potential of something huge. We would have put it back, as we had no way to keep it when on vacation.
The good news is you can get all new quality gear. I am a bit jealous of Amy's tackle box and fishing rods: Nothing but good stuff. My various boxes are stuffed with all kinds of junk and I have plenty of rods/reels that I don't have the heart to throw away.
I have only bought a new vehicle once. It was for my wife. That includes trucks, cars, snow machines, ATVs and motorcycles. I did buy a new chainsaw and fish auger. ;-)
meMiner same here! I think there’s something very special about trout, I drive up in NJ to trout streams sometimes for brown and rainbow trout, they put up great fights, they taste good, they look nice. Trout are definitely a special fish to catch, we like to think they’re cousins of the salmon. I have yet to catch lake trout and landlocked salmon in NJ, I need to invest in a small kayak!!
It depends now on the vehicle. Some of the good ones really retain their value. It is probably a better deal to buy those ones, especially if they offer zero percent financing, even if you have the cash (leave it invested). I am looking at getting a new(ish) truck, but the old Honda Ridgeline keeps on ticking. And I don't mind going down a trail with branches scraping the sides, stones hitting the bump plates or letting a wet dog in back.
It is the only big lake that I know which doesn't have a Loch Ness type of creature legend. It would be nice to send down a camera to the depths to see what is there. Bottom might be covered in gold if the the rivers are any indication.
"You should have seen the fish the last guys reeled in". LOL Actually, the fish were there but they just didn't cooperate. Not for lack of trying. Next time, we will get a big'n.
Yeah, shame about that. I only saw it when editing. Won't happen again. Amazing that the fraction of time it took to push them back on her nose, meant a lost fish every time.
Waaaaattttt. No fish , no, no, no, fissssshhhh, where is the big , huge , massive, giant , fish, noooooo fisssshhhh . I see a bag of salmon chunks from the supermarket, I see no fish. I was looking forward to that, we have seen Amy catch bigger. Fun though, the main thing is you had a good time and both enjoyed your day out.
Funny thing about fishing is there is no guarantee they cooperate. Still, it was fun to see some of the lake and have a chance at a whopper. It will make the next time even more sweet.
Nice day out for sure 👍 Remember to keep that line tight while winding the rod down and use body weight to pull back, gently, cause those soft mouths will pop a hook easy😉
I wonder if I can call them in with my "here, fishy fishy"? On my original edit, I inserted some arrows and titles showing which mountains that I have prospected and had claims in the past. I took them out because this was a fishing video. ;-)
Meminer my friend
Very good
Beauriful place
Thanks for your kind words. ;-)
Beautiful place! Thanks for taking us along.
I love the area so much, that I am looking on a short trip agani next week.
@@meMiner Great!
We love our trout fishing here in Michigan too. Basically fish the same way, but sometimes jig for them. Another great video! Thank you Mr. Miner!
When I was young (before downriggers) we used to troll use steel line. It worked pretty good. We jig for them in the winter.

The Agate Dad True! And you are educating your son while you are at it! HH and GL.🙏🏼🍀👍🏼🙂
Amy don’t you hate it. Do all that work and the fish comes off just as you get to the boat. Good filming dad great video
I noticed during editing that very time she stopped reeling to adjust her sunglasses, that she lost the fish.

Such a beautiful comment. Thanks
Quality father and daughter time! Great video!
It doesn't get any better than sharing a fishing trip with your daughter. ;-)
Looks like salmon fishing on Lake Michigan I done a few years back awesome time thank you for shareing
I have salmon fished on Ontario and Huron. It was a good time. I was hoping to give Amy the same experience. Might have to take her out closer to home.
I heard Gilligan's song in the background. Amy didn't look too happy at 1st! Then she was smiling. Awesome video Greg, Thanks man!
Amy had to wake up a bit early that morning. ;-)
Looks like a great meal is about to be served. Thanks for sharing your adventure and take care.
Really nice fish fresh. We were also given some that was smoked and bottled. Really nice on crackers.
WOW, what a fantastic view!
It really is a pretty area. I wonder if I could talk my girls into moving there? My dog Daisy would be in for it. ;-)
Amy had fun! She's a keeper. Thanks.
Too late to throw her back. ;-)
Trout Fishing in America. - I mean Canada! You should take Amy Snipe hunting next!! 😄
She has been on some bird hunts with me that could have been snipe hunts.
Now I want to go fishing, I have a nice ( sort of) secret fishing spot just outside of the quaint little town of Paris where I catch tasty Smallmouth Bass and have absolutely delicious shore lunches . Awesome video Greig and you'll get em next time Amy .
If you want to catch bass, you had better head out soon. They really slow down when the water cools
I am soooo jealous.beautiful surroundings
It is one of my favorite places. ;-)

You are the best. Love you too. ;-)
Great video, Greig. Thank you and Amy for sharing the fishing adventure.
Very nice lake! I fish at a little pond in my town with little mutated sunnies and catfish. One day I’ll adventure to the Great Lakes in Canada!

Fantastic adventure sweet fish your daughter did great from fishing rod to another not resting her arms way to go
Amy is a trooper. She really wanted a good fish. Next time. ;-)
Nice day out fishing. Thanks for sharing and have a good one
Even if we didn't get a hit from a fish, it still would have been a wonderful time. Thanks for the nice comment.
@meMiner always got to keep the line tight with the pole tip up,and try to never stop reeling...
Next time, I will take her glasses off. ;-)
Thankya for sharing, getem next time amy. Thats a deep lake, no telling whats n there.

@@meMiner i hope so, 150lb chunk o gold. That would b a great vid too. Thank u for sharing my friend.
That's a great looking area. I see that fishing is a lot like prospecting huh. Sometimes you get that lunker and sometimes it just stays in the water!
Same with bird or deer hunting. If it were too easy, then it would not be as much fun.
Rick Reimer Yup! Like the luck of the draw....😉😃
If you talk to the fish they may tell you where all the gold is. Lol. Awesome way to spend the day.
Next time, I will ask them. ;-)
That will be sweet to see again you got a tough daughter great to see great to see you both getting one on one time that’s a fantastic treasure
Thanks so much for the nice message.
Wow I love fishing too thank you for sharing and God bless
Great fun! Hey who doesn't like fishing, and then y'all got to eat what y'all caught. I hope y'all have a great day. 👍
We were also given some smoked and canned trout from the lake. Equally delicious. ;-)
@@meMiner that sounds pretty yummy, I love the smoked trout.
I guess you know I love eating fish, and fishing.😉
Fish On !!!!!! Nice
I was just talking about you!!!!
Ears were burning. LOL
We need to catch up sometime! Enjoy your time with your daughter!
Sara ESP !!😄🙏🏼👋🏼
McChrister you mean ESPN! 😂
Nice going Amy your definitely catching the fishy's !!!; )
Next time, a monster. ;-)
Some beautiful place. Enjoyed 👍 Probably got a 40 pounder on the road back.🥃

Y'all got it made! Rock on!
We try to have fun. Next time, the big one will bite. ;-)
Making great memories!

I will have a fishy on my dishy when the boat comes in! That's what I sing to catch my fish.😂👍
I like it. ;-)
Amy better catch bigger fish!
Next time. ;-)
Nice day out for sure 👍 Remember to keep that line tight while winding the rod down and use body weight to pull back, gently, cause those soft mouths will pop a hook easy😉
She has much to learn, but much of it is trial and error. There is a lesson in every fish. ;-)
You still fishin up there
Not this year unfortunately
cool day beautiful lake good looking girl lol now i want to go to.
It sure is a pretty area. I am looking at going back before the snow flies for some metal detecting gold. Well, metal detecting and hoping for gold.
I love atlin, nice place. I'd love to live there
I would enjoy living there too, but not sure about my wife and daughter. It is a bit too remote for them and short days in the winter.
No doubt, I myself love the big lonely spots. We live in valemount heart of the Rockies. Take care be safe
@@marlainedarin8786 I know Valemount. My sister lived in Clearwater and also had a place in Avola. Love the area.
all the good and beautiful I saw in this video.
big kiss
Beautiful area
I like it so much, I fly back there tomorrow. ;-)
What does "Fish is a Fish" mean?? 🤔😂🙂
We were hoping for a large trout and the hooked fish turned out to be small. But catching a small fish is better than getting nothing.
Hello meMiner, try different baits and you catch Goldfish.
I wonder if I can call them in with my "here, fishy fishy"? On my original edit, I inserted some arrows and titles showing which mountains that I have prospected and had claims in the past. I took them out because this was a fishing video. ;-)
Fish mining.
Should have used a golden lure?
@@meMiner 🎵 I've got a golden lu-re...🎵
Fishing. sometimes it's hot & sometimes it's not. Sometimes you would prefer to just tie your line to your big toe and go to sleep in the sun.
That is the truth.
Adopt me pls 🤠
ProWorK Me as well, please?🙏🏼😂
LOL
Amy needs something to keep her glasses from sliding down her nose.
Looks like you all had a good time.
I caught heck from her Mom (my wife) for not helping Amy with those glasses. We will not let that happen again.
