It's a shader style I wish more games with faux PS1/DOS aesthetics applying modern fidelity would go with. Genuinely looks better than just slapping natural lighting/effects onto everything and calling it a day. The devs over at Iron Gate could learn a thing or two from Hakita and Co.

I really enjoy you remastering the levels and then probably create the rest of the game with the same effort and new and better designs, which will make the end/ new layers much better. Great work!
This is my favorite overhaul so far, as a long time fan, seeing 5-2 for the first time was such an overwhelming visual upgrade from the prior levels that it's surreal to see that same jump happen again. The atmosphere of a storm is so much more realized now, the color palate change is such an excellent choice.
0:44 This change of illumination on the statue makes so much more sense. Now the statue is illuminated and everything else is obscured, while before it was the other way around for some reason.

I understand the amount of changes already made to wrath, but i wish the bodies in the water were given more of a spotlight. Like imagine some limbs flew up as particles when the water slams against the rocks, or some bodies can be shown barely hanging on, or washed ashore.

I like the new style, the old low poly one was neat but this new stuff really feels like that the world really is as realistic and detailed as ours but we simply don’t have the processing power to see it
The new one makes it seem gloomier and depressing, which is fitting when you realize you're traveling on a thin boardwalk across a sea of drowning sinners.
@@phlegmfiend i should probably elaborate, the random "mountain" behind spawn looked weird because it was just a massive cylinder with absolutely nothing else around it, and i always thought the houses looked off, the structures always looked kind of awkward and the insides of them looked kind of barren, but then again that's my personal opinion, you guys seem to think it looked fine.

I play UltraKill on a cracked version because I can't afford the real thing. Each time I load the game, I feel a pang of guilt, knowing the developers deserve better. I promise myself that one day, when I have the means, I'll buy it to show my gratitude for the joy it has brought me.

It's not about being homeless or a child; it's about the tough reality we face daily. The high exchange rate makes it hard to afford things that are easily accessible in other places. It's a struggle many of us deal with, not because we want to, but because of the economic situation we live in.
Out of all of the more recent layers wrath in particular really needed a visual update. I'm very excited to see what you do with heresy (assuming you have any plans for that layer.)
I believe visual update was confirmed for every single level except for Herecy and Violence (not saying they won't update them, just that it's not guaranteed)

Guys, notice how he doesn't show the HUD... considering that currently it uses default Unity assets for background behind weapon icons, and Hakita wanted to eventually use fully custom assets, it's quite possible that the HUD rework is finished.
wow! looks WAY better than i thought it would. im really happy about how all of this is coming along. i hope you decide to remake violence as well, since it doesn't even come close to the remakes of the previous layers. especially the with lightning being animated now. imagine violence with the lightning being visible from the earthmovers. 7-2's background feels really empty as of right now. i'd love to see more ambient levels like those, though. the only thing the game really lacks now is level ambience on the levels that aren't focused on it. it would feel amazing playing without music if there was more ambience
I've always love this levels feeling of openness, like there something to find out over the ocean. This just makes its atmosphere so much more intriguing to me
