My wife and I have been watching your episodes for several weeks now. We started from the beginning and are now on episode 41. I love what your're doing, but I love all the more that you and your dad are Christ followers. I can see your dad's patient character though he rarely speaks. I can also see your strengths as a young leader and man of vision. James 1:2,3 is a good explanation of what is going on in your endeavor. Thanks for your testimony in both words and deeds.
I love your videos and I’ve watched some more than once. I like that you’re a Christian who acknowledges your faith at the end of each episode. You’re a really good carpenter and you’ve done so much to complete the cabin in the face of a lot of adversity. Thanks!
I really enjoy your videos. I am 68 and as a kid I had 2 friends whose dads had tractors and I would sometimes get to help out and drive one of those tractors that were probable as old as yours. I also drove one while working for an orchard. One thing though. I cringe when I see you pulling logs or that giant boulder from the rear. One of those dear friends of mine was trying to pull out an apple tree stump going forwards. The tractor reared up over him and took his life. He was not quite 30. We grieved for years. I know it was a stupid mistake. Perhaps he accidentally gunned it or his foot slipped off the clutch. But I watch you and wish I was out there. Nothing like working out in the woods. Mans Work!!
The words you choose for your narrations indicate to me that you are a reader of good books. I love your videos, thanks for taking the time to make them.
I've been a faithful watcher of your videos, but don't believe I've ever made a comment, so it's time I did. Simply put; I want to thank you and your dad. It's enjoyable to see you both working together in the woods with a common goal. I don't have that opportunity due to cancer taking my dad almost 12 years ago. Keep posting videos and I'll gladly keep watching them!
Thank you for your heart-warming comment, and for following along with us so faithfully. Sorry to hear about your dad. Life can seem far too short when it comes to those who are most precious to us.
Thank you for showing us these indirect challenges of keeping a homestead property. A lot of channels skip things like this over. But a city kid like me wants to learn the whole story. I don't have relatives who will be teaching me these things.
Thanks for sharing this build with us I live in Australia and the trees down here are incredibly hard and heavy you would need several men and cranes to do what you are doing in this country . Its great to see how things are done in other parts of the world.
Awesome video bro. Just amazing to see men enjoy working in the woods together. You seem to naturally portray that and capture it as well. Well done sir.
like many other guys here..... these videos remind me of what it was like to work with my dad on projects around the yard and in the forest. He past away about 6 years ago at 83........ makes me love him even more, and brings tears to my eyes watching this....
I’ve noticed that anything The Outsider and Senior do is done slow and steady. There’s no rush to complete a task, which could cause problems. Yes, they have a deadline that’s weather-related, but nothing instituted by sponsors. I eagerly await episodes of the cabin built on a budget. And, I echo what others have said about how relaxing and calming they are. My wife now watches the videos, and it’s unusual for her to be interested in the same thing as me. We keep The Outsider family in our thoughts and prayers.
I don't often comment but I envy your life working in the forest every time you spend time there you get such a lot of work done, you work well with your dad and I can see you keep a watchful eye on him as he does is best well done young man, your dad has brought you up well you make a good team, may the good Lord watch over you and your family happy new year from UK.
Wow. What a beautiful father/son project, and I don't mean just this episode...the whole campaign. I admire the work you and your father are doing although it makes me jealous and sad because I wish my Dad was still around so we could do something like this. Great to hear your grandfather is still with you, he must be very proud of what you are doing. Wonderful life lessons for all of us. Don't put off your dreams because one day you might find yourself too old and your parents unable to share your journey.
I love watching your videos - seems sometimes that there are long gaps between them. Fascinating story - you really work your dad pretty hard but he seems to enjoy working with you. I especially like the way you acknowledge your Lord and Saviour. I always look forward to your updates - I'm 69 and sometimes wish I was younger to do the stuff you are doing. Best wishes.
Great video senior and junior outsider and thanks for taking care of the granddad cause we all know that if it wasn't for our granddads we all wouldn't be here
I love being in the bush; I love my chainsaw and really enjoy cutting firewood and clearing roads on my property; you are blessed to have your dad to share your time with; you will always have these memories and your grandchildren can look at these videos and see what a great man he was
I’m 13 and and I’m a big fan I Love your channel! me and my family live in the woods and I’m homeschooled here in Newfoundland. Also I love your log cabin and your tractor 😀
That Tractor is the Kingpin of this Voyage, that and some good ol' common sense, which I'm sure would be from Grandfathers knowledge..he's probably memorized this whole Project already....Nice Build! :D
Another great video. I love your footage. The videography is amazing. I know it's very time consuming but I'm blessed by you sharing it with me.... with US. I get a kick out of your dad on the tractor. It looks like he is really enjoying all of it. He's like santa on a red tractor sleigh. What a blessing to be doing this together. Can't wait to see the progress on the cabin.... in your time. Thanks for being safe out there. God Bless you and your family.
LOL .. and now I have a mental picture of Santa Claus racing between the chimneys on Christmas Eve, on a Red Massey Ferguson. Meanwhile the reindeer are chilling to Netflix back home, "Easiest Christmas .. ever!" :D
Love your videos. I used to live in the country and work every year cutting and processing firewood. I think that work and other work that I had to do kept me in some kind of physical shape. I moved to the city 19 years ago. Now I huff and puff at simple tasks of walking up a couple of flights of steps. As far a widow makers......someone dies every year in the woods hunting or cutting firewood from trees such as the ones in this video. The threat is real. May you and your dad stay safe while your in the woods.
lol It wouldn't be an Outsider episode if I didn't put the camera in some sort of peril before the episode was through. ...Thank you for the encouragement!
@@TheOutsiderCabin Great response! You need to start writing children's audio books! What do you do for your day job if you don't mind me asking? Have a spirit filled Sunday.
thats really cute...first they work without chainbreakes on their saw and in jeans, then finally son takes on a safety trouser, but daddy is still in jeans and NOW they wear hard hats...really,they work safe finally :)
I’ve been binging on your videos today... Loving everything I see!! Really like you and your dads drive!!!i do wonder (maybe because I’m an engineer), but each time I see you use a leverage tool it is almost always only two legs of a triangle the ground is your third but if you use a third in the same design it could stand on its own, and you the operator could be safely far away..... keeping your hands near a cable wench under thousands of pounds of pressure could be a limb loss in the blink of an eye... just want to see you have your son doing this work some day and you helping him with all your limbs.... and safely, happily, laughingly enjoying your time together.... take care. I hope to see you soon...😎
I came across your channel a couple of days ago and have been, "sort of", binge watching. I have to say that the videography and narration are excellent. The subject is what drew me, but the content has got me hooked. Can not wait to see the finished cabin. Yet, we all know there is never a finished project. I enjoy learning and teaching bush craft skills and I have been blessed to work in some amazing wilderness areas. Having said that... I am not a "Wilderness Prude". Taking advantage of technology to efficiently accomplish a task/goal can be more eco friendly than the, some times, wasteful practice of a "Misery Whip and a team of ponies". I was particularly impressed with the use of safety equipment (PPE... Chaps, Hard hats, eye protection) and the emphasis on reducing and/or mitigating risks. Hard hats are not just for vengeful squirrels... even though Farmer Ins. HAS covered it. Keep up the good work.
Another great episode! I did not realize you where building the cabin on family land, that just makes this build that much better! Loved hearing the history of your grand dad cutting wood in these same woods that years later you are building your cabin in! Take care, be safe and keep your eye's up when dropping tree's my friend!
I'm sure you noticed all the dead limbs of the tree holding the widow maker. I would get a pole saw and try to remove as many of those as possible especially on the trail side. There are probably a lot of other trees along the trail with small widow makers like those that would be good to be removed.
This is such a GREAT site. Really enjoy watching you working in the woods and thinking how lucky you and your family are. Take care and keep up the GREAT work. Managing a great forest of your own is a LOT of work, but DEF well worth it. Till next vid, have a great Thanksgiving long weekend.
Even though that maple makes great fire wood I could see so many wood turners start to tear up because of all the spalted bowls that could've been. lol Thanks for sharing
I think I could see a few gun stocks a maybe even some live edge bar stool backs and maple seats. Love your vlogs and keep up the good work. Love that Sassy Massey.
Well … to be fair, it's actually fairly easy to beat their power, just about every tractor does it nowadays. However, it's a nice and compact tractor, that works very well in constrained areas. And if the Massey is well cared for, it will work for years, and years, and years. :) Something which modern tractors are not really designed for. They really need their regular servicing.
i know this is a very old video. but i wonder if they make hear pro, for loggers like they do for shooters, active protection that allows you to still hear people talk around you, and just dampens certain db (gun shots) but for power tools, etc.
When you are in the bush it is always important to keep your eyes up. Sometimes it isn’t as obvious as this on leaning across your trail but just as deadly 30’ above your head. That maple looks to be partially spalted. You will have some beautiful wood if it shows in the boards you cut. I look forward to the next cabin video.
Nice video! Good to take care of the scary stuff before it can hurt you! Surely could have been bad but you got it in time. Can’t wait to see some cabin building.
As a former woodworker it's driving me nuts because I can see alllllll of the gorgeous spalting in your firewood. If you'd put that through the sawmill and sold it off you could have gotten a hell of a lot of money for it lmao
Only one critique. You were cutting the cedar downhill towards you which made the logs role onto your foot. You never know when one of those come back to hurt you. Please be safe! Love your videos
