    I needed the is video! I still have questions on solbulizers. I have a conditioning spray that I can’t stop the separation without it get too thick to spray through a sprayer. BTMS and cetearyl thicken it too much. Polysorbate does not keep it binded

    • @drizzledazzlehairandskin
      @drizzledazzlehairandskin Месяц назад

      @lifewithmodesty7395 solubilizers are tricky to work with but a very common and effective one is caprylyl capryl glucoside. Note, it is a non-ionic surfactant and produces a bit of foam but works well as solubilizer. There are other solubilizers and also emulsifiers that create thin/watery emulsions.

      @@drizzledazzlehairandskin I appreciate you responding! I love formulation advice.
      I did create another formula for my sprays using Glyceral Stearate PEG 100. I'm trying to promote " "natural" so I dont know if I'll be using it long term in hopes
      to find plant derived substitute. But as of now it works great without the seperation.

      @drizzledazzlehairandskin Месяц назад

      @dineshgulati1664 for thin (slightly thick) lotions, you can try olivem 1000. You'll need to use the emulsifier at the lower usage rate and add little gum, maybe 0.2% but I wouldn't go higher.
      For water or sprayable emulsions, you can try caprol micro express from lotioncrafter but i haven't used it before. My go to for sprayable emulsions is surfpro cf.

    Permethrin is organic oily substance which cannot mix in water.
    How to mix permethrin in water? I need 2% mixture.
    There are 3 possible solution i have found. Which is the best?
    1) Use dimethyl formamide DMF as co-solvent. It will dissolve Permethrin , then mix it with water.
    2) Use Silicone Emulsifier
    3) Use C9 + 6 % emulsifier Fx 6600 + 7700 to make 25% Permethrin-EC then mix it with water.

    • @drizzledazzlehairandskin
      @drizzledazzlehairandskin Месяц назад

      Guar gum is not an emulsifier. While some gums can hold up a little amount of oil in your formula, the main role of gum is to stabilize your water phase and also thicken your products.
      Olivem 1000 is a very easy emulsifier to work with.

    What would you use to mix vinegar with tea tree? Oil would glycerin vegetable work. I'm looking to use the mixture and laundry.

    • @drizzledazzlehairandskin
      @drizzledazzlehairandskin Месяц назад

      Glycerin is not a solubilizer so, will not mix your tea tree oil with vinegar.
      If you don't mind me asking, how do you want to use the product? Will it be rinsed out or used as a leave-in? If rinse out, it might be easier to make as you go, shake and use without the need to solubuilize. Otherwise, caprylyl capryl glucoside is a good place to start.

    So the negative charge emulsifiers will assist with lifting the hair cuticle and the positive charge emulsifier will close the hair cuticle?

    • @OceNatural
      @OceNatural  Год назад +3

      The purpose of understanding the charges for the emulsifiers is for compatibility with different ingredients example preservatives, thickeners, humectants just to name a few. The hair tends to be negatively charged so you will want to use a cationic (positive) emulsifier for formulating hair products like a conditioner. That is why in the example I gave BTMS 50 (positive emulsifier) is widely used for a lot of hair products. The cationic emulsifer will stick to the negative charge section of hair and absorbs into the hair to condition it. I hope this helps with your question.
