LOL he had an over under came out in 1920 in Europe. the show came out in the 1960s

He had a combination gun. The top barrel fires a rifle cartridge and the bottom fires a shotgun shell. These types of guns have been around for hundreds of years. Of course Slade's gun was a much later example being a cartridge firing gun but there is no reason why gunsmiths would not have continued to make combination guns and simply updated the technology with the times.
