I kinda hate it because it became so hard to tell them apart. But I also can understand it because the original ones are so freaking expensive.
True, the ‘product code’ tags are where to look for Nike and Adidas. Older ones are more difficult.
It's basically just a case of choosing which criminal gang you want to pay for your football shirt. The "real" gang or the "fake" gang.
The real crime is the fact that I have to pay 100+ for a shirt.

If the manufacturers and clubs werent so greedy we wouldnt have to buy fakes.
Always seems to be about stopping the sale of fake shirts and not an investigation into the ludicrous price of genuine ones.
I buy the shirts from DHgate. Haven’t bought one from the Manchester City clubshop for four or five years ago

Ive bought from dh gate for over 4 years and will never go back to buying official. They are the exact same and the ridiculous prices are such a rip off
I just bought an Arsenal shirt with "Premier League Champions 2023-4" on the front and "Sandamas" on the back from a street vendor near Grand Central Station. Actually the guy paid me $20 to take it just before he ran away with two policemen chasing him. I'm worried that it might be fake. 😢
Change it to 24-5 and it will be correct!

Weirdly it was McFlurry. Now that could be a really bad misspelling or If I was a skeptical person, they picked that name from a well known fast food menu.
I mean all football shirts genuine and fake are made in sweatshops. Absolutely disgraceful the prices that Nike/Adidas/Puma etc etc are charging for them. I would recommend people stop buying genuine shirts altogether until they drop their prices and stop ripping off supporters, it's absolutely criminal what they are charging for these and forcing supporters into making these multinational corporations and billionaire owned clubs even more money.
There needs to be some sort of boycott, otherwise it will carry on rising.

I remember going to the Classic Football Shirts store (the previous one) in September 2021 (My first time in Manchester), and picking up the 2016-17 Adelaide United home shirt (2xl) for £12.99
If I see a fake football shirt for (for example) £15, on DHGate, I'd have a look on Classic Football Shirts, for an obscure shirt for £15 (Like the 2021-22 Estoril GK shirt for £14.99).
Bruh this is not a thing. Nike, Adidas, Puma ALL have their entire product lines manufactured in Bangladesh, China and Pakistan. They literally just artificially increase the price because they can and people will buy well marketed products. The shirts are barely better in quality, why would you EVER buy a "real" shirt? If it was EU-made and in controlled labour circumstances, then maybe
Yep that’s true. I’ve seen articles before that say the real shirts are also made with bad pay, conditions etc.
These companies check their supply chains. They do go out there and look at the factories, talk to staff etc. I was a lecturer in responsible business practices so know a little about these things
Things aren’t perfect, but they aren’t a free for all unregulated business.

I think it’s important to keep in mind what your goal is when deciding to buy fakes. If you are looking to buy a shirt to wear just for the euros or a shirt for your kids, I completely understand why people would go for the cheaper option. However, if you are a collector looking to build a serious shirt collection, you need to buy the real thing in order to be taken seriously, no one will respect a collection of fakes.

As long as the real shirts keep getting more expensive the fakes will appeal more and more. As someone who live in 3rd world country with average wages I can't afford buying like 3 real shirts every year costing £120 each, however I can afford 1 real home shirt with £10 fakes home, away & 3rd to wear daily and not worry about wear and tear after use.

As someone who use to get football shirt i understand why some people will get fake shirts and i do not blame them reasons being the price i use to never get fakes because i felt bad having that item but now a normal person will get them fake from china or anywhere else which is fine but it a waste if they buy it until there team get knock out off the euros/world cup
Yes I have, in Hong Kong there was a whole market in Mong Kok dedicated to “fake” shirts.
There’s a lot here too, I see many at Camden Market in London.

Do a deep dive into Addidas, Nike et al...They are primarily made in Asia (also with cheap labour) The cost to make the "real" shirt is about 6€ ...then gullible fans pay over 80€+ or %1400 more.

There is no real or fake football shirt. I know factories in China that make "REAL" shirts for Adidas and Puma and sell the EXACT same shirt but leftovers so called "FAKE" shirts.

Those are Jersey that aren’t officially approve. They are made in the same factory . Insted of protestation throwing it away they sell it without official brand
I've only purchased the real thing so far, but the prices are getting so high that I'm starting to get temptated to get one or two of those thai fakes just to see how good they are. They must not be that bad to use casually or to go out for a run...

It's so sad to me that people who wanna represent their countires/club in the footballing world thru merchandise are having to resort to buying fake jerseys because manufacturers like nike, adidas ect. are charging such insane prices for a piece of polyester and if your a teenager or a young adult such as myself it's such a turn off when I see that to buy directly from the club store would cost me 1/3 of my paycheck.
Definitely, I think once people begin to boycott the real shirts, companies will start to see that they have to lower their prices.
Seemingly when you buy a product from the shop fifty percent is profit for the store for overheads staff,keeping the store going,profit for store and pf course the taxman takes twenty percent but it is a sad day when you can actually get a shirt shipped over,printing and badges for cheaper than what taxman takes in the UK of the retail price,scandalous!
True, the manufacturer only takes in around 25% of how much the shirt is sold for. But yes, it’s a terrible situation!
@@TFSS it makes common sense to cut out the middleman(retailer) then but that still doesn't explain why a retailer charges the se price on their website.i understand for brock and morter stores but not online,£80 is ridiculous?

I just counted and I have 54 jerseys, many Utd and ireland also many teams around Europe.When I went on holiday when I was younger I would come home with many every year and the collection just built up.
I would get them off the men selling them on the beach.
.Shame now that they are getting more common I felt unique repping mad clubs from all over

The only way to reduce on the popularity of fakes is by lowering the price of the genuine shirts. Firstly it doesn't cost manufacturers that much to make a shirt only for them to price it at 4 or maybe 5 times the price of production. And secondly i believe if they were made more affordable clubs would see higher sales as people would rather buy directly from the club if the price was right a win win solution for everyone.
That’s definitely true. I think they charge so much as they don’t see much of that profit - it’s splits between the manufacturer, club and retailer, who then all have to pay staff, bills etc.
Although that’s of course no excuse for the ridiculous prices.
I've started to make an interesting collection of football shirts, from places I go to vacations to. This collection wouldnt be possible if I didn't go for the fake ones. There is no way Im paying more for a shirt than Im paying for a full day/night at a 5* hotel...

Wont lie it makes uthe fel look good. I have all four shirts from this season which I have saved money up forr. In the end of season sale these came in at 16.50 for the home. 22.00 away. 32. Third. 22.00 Goalkeeper. All for 92.50 which is only 7.50 more than the very basic version ofthe england shirt. Bargain!
It's definitely not a surprise when shirts are £80-125. Its vile and i can't justify paying it
Never bought a fake shirt before but I wouldn't say I'm strictly against it aside for the factory conditions. For the last 5 years though, I haven't bought a real one either. I want to support my club, but I refuse to take out a second mortgage in order to do so.
I agree, I collect them so don’t really buy fake ones, but for the real ones I wait for the end of season sales now.

As an Asian guy, the best quality for fake jersey is from Thailand factory. Even China cant beat that.
I'm not saying you should or shouldn't buy them but it's a bit disingenuous to say there's NO risk to the consumer when fakes are made with very flammable materials and nowhere near the health and safety guarantees the originals are.
Yeah I used to care about the moral ramifications of buying fakes until I quickly realised that just about most of our clothing are made in a sweatshop some way or another. So who cares that someone buys a fake when the economy is in the absolute shitter and these greedy clubs charge £70 for a shit replica when you can get better quality fakes for 30-40 on ebay?
I agree with that, the prices are ridiculous. And I’ve seen reports too saying that the real ones are also made in factories with poor pay and conditions.

Football should be for everyone... rich or poor - everyone, especially kids, should be able to wear their team, however not anyone can afford it. I will always be for replicas, when some are only able to find joy through fake shirts.
