Agree, the demos I've heard of them they often sound great and the fact their pedals are like 30$ a piece sounds like a great deal. I'm also very interested in the Mjorlnir amp, I wonder if it could be a competitor against the 5153 LBX 15 watter. Going to try and get the Compressor first though
I have to say that I knew Frameshift before your channel and that´s some awesome albums there! Really good work! I´m waiting for the next one! (Who´s gonna be the singer this time?)
@@guitarandgames1386 honestly ive never used those boosts before, just the joyo. I would like to buy a good boost though some day, but the joyo never left me desiring more.
I love joyo, coming from a developing country perspective, famous brand pedals are so expensive, and being able to import them from china on aliexpress, they have been a blessing.
I bought a Joyo Zombie the other day at a guitar show, wow, it sounds great! all the dirt you'll ever need with the gain only halfway, nice and tight sound, chuffed to bits :)
And I believe the zoMBie is a Mesa Boogie. They're great amps. Took a long time to come out. I checked them out at NAMM in Jan 2016 and wanted to buy one on the spot but they didn't come out for another year or something. Very cool little amps.
The vintage overdrive pedal is a BEAST. For the money I really think it's the best you can buy. I have been gigging hard with mine for a couple of years now and it has held up awesomely. Joyo definitely has my vote of confidence.
I always knew joyo was putting out some good stuff. When glenn started riffing with the OD in front of the mjolnir I instantly made my metal face. nice job
My pedalboard wouldn't be complete without my Joyo Vintage Phaser, amazing for an ambient clean tone when put on a low speed and used together with chorus, delay, reverb. It's a massive part of my rig. I love Joyo!!
I enjoyed the video, almost as much as I know you´ll enjoy Cuba. One thing: when you go, take the Joyos with you, they love them there, I took care of that myself. Rock on!
last night I had a dream about you: You and me we were pretty drunk at 3am and serached for a fast food place. finally we got to BK but the manager said he wanted to close, ignoring the 24/7 advertisment. You got so mad that you jumped over the counter and beat the shit out of him (in a "the-punisher" manner). It was pretty weird
I just ordered the Joyo Ultimate Drive pedal for 28.85 U.S. off eBay.. I'll report back here my thoughts compared to higher end drive pedals..(OCD, Tube Screamer, Precision Drive, etc). I'm really diggin the MJOLNIR. I love the 6505mh for apartment playing but if the cleans are better on the MJOLNIR I may swap them out...Great video Gleen..
Glenn, make sure you check out the Joyo Ultimate Drive at some point as well. I've got the HB branded one and it hasn't been off my board since i got it a couple of years ago.
With any tube amp, some designs fail with heat on the PC board over time. Fender Hot-Rods are famous for this, as are Peavey Classics from the 90's. The Joyo amp sounds good... I hope it's made better than some tube amps. The Sovtek mig amps were a good example.. sounds good, poor durability. Unless we take the Joyo apart for a better idea... we don't know.
I love Joyo. I have 2 of their Dynamic Compressors, the Voodoo Octave, the Analog Chorus, Space Verb (best reverb I've ever tried), Wow Wah, Noise Gate, AT Drive, and the D-Seed, as well as the Dr J Sparrow (Sansamp BDDI-style pedal). For the price, they're all superb. The Voodoo Octave doesn't have a great sound on its own, but mixed with an overdrive, it makes some really cool textures.
Isn't the Bluguitar Amp1 effectively an analog modelling amp? The different preamp sections aim to sound like certain types of amplifiers (Clean: Fender/Vox, Vintage: Marshall (from the 60s), Classic: Marshall (from the 80s), Bodern: Mesa Boogie?)?
Did you guys ever do the follow up on the Beale? I loved the video on the traynor (I have one myself) and id love to see a similar kind of video pushing what it’s “supposed” to do
For anyone looking at this comment now. Peavey 6505 112 combos can be found for around 300-500 dollars US now. So if that's what your looking for look on local listings or online
I have three Joyo banTamps. The BlueJay which is based on a a Fender Blues Jr. The AtomiC which is based on a Vox AC and a JaCkMan which is dashed on a Marshall JCM800. They take pedals very well. As a Blues Rocker I put a Boss OD3, a CNZ Dumble, a Timmy and always on a Nobels ODR in front. In the loop delay and reverb. They may be little but the are a beast through a Mesa/Boogie 1X12 open back cab. Should be able to cut through a drumbeat kit but I suggest a 121 and 57 to hit the sweet spot in a performance.
it's awesome how you can get such an angry tone out of the Mjolnir without any add ons, its like a pissed off chihuahua that's got the nuts of a dragon
Analog modelling? Let's get a Fearless Gear Review of the Sansamp GT-2! The 'British' mode gets hyped for direct recording metal guitars, it'd be cool to hear it compared to the real thing in a mix, and the microphone positions that it claims to emulate.
Glenn, does that ESP ltd have Duncan JB759 set in it? Because they and the Joyo Vintage Overdrive and Mjolnir sound killer together, totally getting the Mjolnir. What cab did you run the Mjolnir into, Mesa 4x12?
Thanks for covering these amps really wana check them out but we got to fill the music stores up first. Didn't know you were a Canadian RUclipsr that's pretty awesome go poke those guys at long and mcquade to stock these up.
depends on your drummer; also, if the amp is mic'd up, this wouldn't be a problem as well (in most cases). In general, 20W solid state is a bit too weak but if your drummer isn't too loud, this should be doable.
You should see if the Bantamps can be heard over a drummer, because you never know. Peavey and Orange make solid state amps that are loud as fuck, despite what their wattage would claim, so it would be worth looking into.
The Orange micro amps (or at least the Micro Dark) use an STA540 class AB amplifier chip iirc. It also puts out more than the claimed "20W" which is why they have a reputation for being louder than expected. ;)
I've done small gigs with my Micro Dark. With a 1x12 you do not need to worry about volume :) even the 1x8 works but it doesn't sound as good when cranked. Goes over a drummer at about half volume already.
I have Joyo Zombie + Meteor running at the same time through two PPC212 Orange. Volume just passed 12 O'clock and the walls are shaking. In proper cab(s), don't worry about it, it's enough.

there was an analog modeling amp that behringer did a while back that sounded great you can find them on reverb and guitar center's website used for about 300 or less these days
Joyo has been showing up a lot on my Amazon picks and youtube demos. I guess I'll have to break down and purchase a Bandtamp. Now the biggest question: which one....
Mjolnir sounds interesting...I'm curious, though - why did you keep the gain at zero on the clean channel? I'd love to hear what kind of range it has for crunch/heavy rhythm - what's it like with the gain maxed out on the clean channel?
Hey Glenn! Nice video! I really like Joyo products (have the Ultimate Overdrive, Pocket Metal and British tone myself) and they´re awesome! The "Tone" series are awesome and can be used in Line (already saved me from crappy amps on some venues)! You should check their other pedals and even the "D-Seed" pedal for delay! Cheers from Brazil!
Looking at this video again a few years later, as far as the Joyo Mjolnir goes, I had it and have not found my self too impressed with it and sent it back, definitely prefer my Mesa over this. This is from what I see one of the most honest videos of what this amp sounds like straight out of the box, but too be fair, it definitely rips on the heavier tunings.
I use a joyo US Dream, due to EytschPi42's great review. I use it if I'm not using my amp or going to a session or Jam. I really want to try their looper for affects switching! Thanks Glenn for the vids.
Hey gang, looking for some advice whoever can help me: my band is considering moving to a new studio, because the current one is in shambles and the owner charges a huge load exploiting the fact, there aren't many options to rent a studio. We do not want to use a pay-by-the-hour studio because we need to store the gear somewhere. Anyway, it came up, that it might be worth creating our own. So my first question would be: where? Would a basement of a residential house work? Or do we have to opt for a heated small warehouse? How much noise can leak out? Do we need to plaster the whole wall with rock wool? Any helpful comment is much appreciated
