  • Surfers typically plateau in their abilities by the time they reach upper beginner or low intermediate. We need a shift in the standards, the knowledge base (the roadmap) so that we can globally up-level the surfing population. That way, everybody can have even more fun riding waves :)

    Mate. This must be the best summary I have ever watched in the very basics of surfing. Even for an intermediate like me ( based on your criteria), it feels good to refresh those concepts!

    ahhh!!! this is gonna change everything!! particularly the angle bit (so used to starting straight on the broken waves!) so obvious now that you've mentioned it. thanks!! xxx

    Great breakdown Kale! Watching this i realise that I'm still beginner, just not spending enough time in the water. These videos help a lot

    Thank you. I’ve been out of the water for a while and getting older so I feel like I’m regressing. Hopefully these tips will help me get my mojo back.

    Great videos , so many good tips. I’m a beginner and have been using a surftech boomer 6.10 softtop at 68kgs , how bigger surf should I be able to take this in as I seem to struggle on the bigger days

    Well done, Kale! It will be helpful to know more on the gear: if, let's say, I am using a longboard 7'4 with 48L as a beginner, my next graduate step will be like 7'0? and which volume and shape? Thank you!

    I first surfed in 2001. I've been crap at surfing ever since, despite trying many times.
    This year, I went to Cimaja, Java four times and didn't improve, so I booked 15 days at Padang Padang Surf Camp.
    On day one I got advice that had me surfing more waves than the 4 times I'd been to Cimaja.
    I'd say I'm now an almost intermediate.

      what advice you got?

    • @Chebab-Chebab
      @Chebab-Chebab 6 месяцев назад

      @@asaha177 Tip 1: shoulders forward, I had them facing sidewards.
      Tip 2: Feet together when paddling.
      Tip 3: I worked out myself. Lie farther forward to avoid stalling. I'd been afraid of nose diving before.

    So how do you know which way of the wave is going to break and which way to angle your board when you’re at a reef break and when you’re at a beach break that is what I am struggling with

    I have taken only a few lessons so far (all 1-on-1 private lessons), and the lack of standardised level system confuses me. Some surf schools have only 3 levels, and others have as many as 12.
