I've used other (10" saws) previously and was pretty surprised with the speed and cutting ability of this Dewalt saw.I have bolted mine to a table to minimize movement which I highly recommend. This is a Great saw ruclips.net/user/postUgkxPeGkHOMe05FySypTOvYumxMn-xi39oRe with a light to see your cutting line (not a laser line).I'd recommend this saw fro anyone looking to upgrade from a 10" miter saw.

31.62 is for cutting crown moulding while laying flat on the deck. There’s another one on the bevel too at 33.9 so you lock out you bevel and miter on those settings and lay the crown flat to get a perfect 45 degree miter on crown

The degrees you mentioned are for crown molding when cutting flat. Those degrees are what determines the projection /angle of the crown as it bedded on the ceiling. Only time I used it was crown that was 7 1/4”.

The 31.6 and 33 degree stops are for cutting crown molding flat. Crown comes typically in standard 45 and 38 degree installed angles. Those stops work in conjunction with the bevel gauge to give you the angles necessary to make corners and miter cuts.
By the way. Each type of crown has a number and each number of crown has an available miter sheet with all the numbers necessary for cutting the angles in any instillation.

RR building the degrees on the miter coupled with specific bevel angles allow you to cut crown mounding laying flat on the bed.

  • @TheOutlawJoWales

When you cut crown molding flat on the table, instead of standing it up nested, you miter it at 31.6 degrees and bevel it at 33.9 degrees. Most compound miter saws have positive stops at these degrees.

Obviously no comparison to my old Ryobi 10" miter saw, but still. That's definitely a 'buy once, cry once' tool. Maybe after I get a few jobs knocked out I'll get it. With so many different jobs I do, it might be a game changer! Framing, baseboard, crown, decks. It might just save some time for me. I especially like the shadow line. The laser on my Ryobi gave up ages ago, and I had a hard time seeing it in daylight, so, maybe?

Some times on the job you need the tool to keep running for long periods. Most times you use it sporadically and battery is all you need. But there are times where you got that thing and especially a table saw running for long periods and you can't charge the batteries fast enough.

So I am a huge Milwaukee fan! I started building with my father when I was young, we did it all remodeling, restorations, and modern updates. For years we helped people out with projects they never thought could be affordable. How we did it was not being cheap, we didn't take any shortcuts or "cheats". We simply shopped around looked for good deals and told our customers for a small budget we can do the job. That was in the early 2000's. Fast forward to today I now own my own small business that i operate with my brother helping people out with projects around the house on weekends or after my day job. I am an HVAC technician by trade, Contractor on the weekends. 👍 Very cool review I have seen some of your projects on the channel and looks very good I learned a thing or two as well. I invested a ton of money into DeWalt the 20v and 60v line. The reason why I stopped is because I like how Milwaukee did the same thing Makita did. Which is they used one battery for ALL there tools! I didn't like how I had to bring my DeWalt 20v impacts, drills, router and sander and I had to grab my 60v saws and the batteries the whole back of my truck was filled with batteries and chargers! I worked for a company that had a contract with Milwaukee. Anything I want right out of the catalog I got (the catch is I had to pay for it) 😣 just like snap on. So I slowly made the switch in the beginning of the summer of 2018 and I have been buying nothing but Milwaukee ever since! I have a trim job, and a custom fireplace coming up soon. After seeing your review I now know my decision I will be ordering one from acme tool this week I'm going to get the stand and everything. Thanks keep up the good work and videos 👍

31.6 on the base angle and 33.9 on the compound angle. For crown moulding cut on flat. You just need to practice, it’s a case of cutting one side crown moulding face forward with the saw left in 31.6 and then crown moulding backside with 31.6 to right. Practice on a few cuts, I might have the left and right, back and front wrong way round. It’s been ages since I did it. 👍🏻

the depth limiter is so you can cut helfway through a board, flip it over, and cut the other half, and not get tear-out on one side, like for finishing work / cabinetry / etc.
I like how refined this saw is, so many details taken care of in the design. It is one of the most 'evolved' miter saws you can get, especially for the price point.

Great video and content! One thing though I would keep a couple old chargers around as they can recondition m12/m18 batteries which may save you a trip or call milwaukee for green/red light charging issue and the slower you charge the better for the over all life/performance of the battery. Like me on the job site time is money so rapid and above but if you can hold off charging till end of day and charging overnight on the old style or sequential charger you'll will give your batteries more life in the long run. I own a ton of batteries and I am learning somethings the hard way.

Actually it’s not good for lithium batteries to be charged at less than 1C. So no less than 12amps for a 12HD battery. As long as the charger is balancing the cells correctly, then no need to “trickle” charge the battery. I have the Super Charger I use for these batteries and it’s well worth the money. Mine came with a free 8amp battery.

@@kevinmeyer2655 Can you link to evidence that fast charging makes batteries last longer? I have never heard that before. I know battery chemistry is constantly changing and all cells are not the same. No one used the term "trickle" but you though. I thought trickle charging lithium cells was a big no-no. As in fire and explosive catastrophic no-no. I don't think 2hrs is trickle charging. Note that he said "sequential charger" which charges 6 packs, one at a time.

I'm not against battery powered tools, no manufacturer has matched Bosch's design in their miter saw. It has no foot print, can't damage the slider bars. Without being there with you in your shop, it sounds a bit quieter than my Bosch and Makita are. Looking forward to seeing you use it onsite. Cheers :)

I know right?! I'm old enough to remember hauling the big DeWalt radial arm saw to the jobsite and setting it up next to the lumber stacks. It'd be there until framing was done. Guys calling out dimensions and me racing to keep up. Every dimension to the nearest 1/8 in. I'd be really sweating at rafter time. Especially cutting jacks. Haha! I still have all my fingers.

Are you still happy with this saw? I just bought the 10in model and it is a nightmare. Impossible to calibrate since it keeps on losing calibration and flexes a lot when fully extended. I really want to stay with Milwaukee so looking to return the 10in and get the 12in even though I dont really need it to be that big.

I could give two shits about the saw. It’s clearly a good saw. What’s incredible is your work ethic, reputation and honesty! Milwaukee is wise to keep sending you tools because you clearly don’t hold back on your reviews good or bad and I’m sure they value any constructive criticism pros give them. Your building are sick and I watch those videos to dream of having my own shop one day but your tool reviews are super helpful to give me ideas and help make decisions for my woodworking hobby. Keep up the great work brother! I’ve been watching a long time
