  • This week's episode of Tool Review Tuesday features the Milwaukee M18 FUEL 18-Volt Cordless Dual-Bevel Sliding Miter Saw Kit. In this video, I explain all the features and then see how many 2x4's I can cut on a single fully charged battery in 30 degree weather. The cutting begins at 10:05 in the video, in case you want to skip ahead. How many 2x4's do you think it will cut? If you see the answer, were you surprised with the results? This kit is Model #2739-21HD and it includes (1) 12Ah High Output M18 Battery, 2 saw blades, dual bevel saw, and a battery charger. To see all the details, please click on the Home Depot link just below.

      The saw looks good is shadow line is the actual width of the blade? also wanted to see how accurate the angle cuts are.
      Also for the 2x4 cut test you may have wanted to have the saw come to a complete stop and re-start each time.
      Still using a 1990 Black and Decker 12 inch compound miter saw (actually built by Dewalt)

    • @MarkThomasBuilder
      @MarkThomasBuilder  4 года назад +1

      Makes sense. I did a mix of start stops and then some continuous cuts. That 1990 saw sounds like a good one to go that long. I started out with a radial arm saw which I was glad to retire.

    This is a pretty cool 12" cordless miter saw. Nice that it can run pretty good on a 18v battery. With two 12ah batteries you will be good all day. More tools too buy, LOL..
    I hope milwaukee will redesign their 10" miter saw to look like the 12" & 7 1/4". That's also a nice size.
    Thanks for the video

      There've been times where I've worked at jobsites without electricity. It gets expensive buying gas for running the generator all day. I agree that 2 batteries would handle an entire days work.

    • @MarkThomasBuilder
      @MarkThomasBuilder  9 месяцев назад

      I really like this one, especially with the shadow light. The light is a game changer, much better than a laser. This has always worked well for me and the Milwaukee stand is the best I've used so far. If there's an issue with power, Milwaukee will be introducing the M18 12Ah Forge battery this year, which will be amazing.

      @@MarkThomasBuilder Thanks for the reply. I was looking at the Dewalt DWS716XPS, a model that doesn’t get discussed much. It has the shadow light on a 12” non-sliding Dewalt for under $400. It’s such a tough choice when you want to buy one and done.

    great review great saw, milwuakee really crushes everything, too pricey for me atm ill have to stick to my corded one for a few more years until these are up for sale second hand, 340 cuts is a bit inflated i think because the saw didnt need to spin up and spin down between every cut, you never make 90 cuts in rapid succession on the job, but it did line up surprisingly close to their 330cut claim

    • @MarkThomasBuilder
      @MarkThomasBuilder  4 года назад

      I actually mixed it up where I did some continuous cuts where I kept the blade spinning and then I also did some start/stop cuts. Either way, I think 1 battery would get me through an entire day, especially if I'm taking time to nail the boards together in a framing project.

    Great review as always! Very informative with everything I wanted to see. Can you do the 2x4 cut test with a smaller battery like a 5ah or even a 2ah to see how it would do if you were in a pinch and didn’t have a 12ah?

    • @MarkThomasBuilder
      @MarkThomasBuilder  3 года назад +1

      They're both amazing saws. I really like the shadow light on this on compared to the DW 779. This also has a better dust collection location for my needs. When I put the shadow light on my 779, then I'm guessing they will compete pretty close. I also like battery power better because the saw is always ready to go and there's no cords to trip over. Hope that helps! 😄👍

    how do you compare this miter saw to dewalt flexvolt miter saw? nice video

    • @MarkThomasBuilder
      @MarkThomasBuilder  4 года назад

      Thank you! It compares nicely to the Dewalt 15V, 12" miter saw. I've heard good things about the flexvolt, mainly because you can plug it in too. I really like this Milwaukee with the 12Ah battery because it goes all day and has a shadow line for cutting which works awesome. If I ever get a Flexvolt to test, I'll make a comparision.

    Why not have both the shadow-line and laser? Shadow-line is superior, but in daylight (when most on site cutting is done) it sucks.

      That's an interesting point. I was able to see the shadow line better than what my camera picked up. I'll have to use this saw some more to see if it needs a laser too.

      @onepunchman5714 2 года назад

      @@justanotherchannel6097 i bought both and the 10 was surprisingly inadequate.. the slide made the cuts very inaccurate being on the bottom bc the flex of the base when you make cuts. i was very disappointed. i went with the 12 and i love it. i can even use my 5hr batteries with it and see so significant power diff. battery life obvi not gonna last but they do and unlike my m18 table saw which def needs the 12 hr or more the chop saw can handle so damn well. i highly suggest

      Yeah I'm doing log cabin 8 by 8 D logs. Is that rubber dust catch removable? Minus that rubber piece it looks like it would fit under. Try it and make a video. Cut, roll cut. I think being able to cut a 8 by 8 in 2 passes would be a good selling point. If in fact it will do it.

      @@MarkThomasBuilder so funny you brought that up. I actually bought the sawsquach to do this project. I'm not really happy with the cuts. I have to clamp a speed square to the log as a guide, even then it's not great. It works but I think a chop saw would do a better job. Another thing it near impossible to trim off a small amount with the chainsaw style blade.

    • @MarkThomasBuilder
      @MarkThomasBuilder  2 года назад
