Why the fuck would they make this so hard. I live in Nebraska and every used car I’ve had to replace a heater core and blower motor. This is a simple where item like a oil filter why would they do this?
I've dismantled most of my dash in the wake of discovering a family of mice. I want to clean the entire air circulation system. Do you think it is possible to slip the heater core unit (to the right) off the radiator without hurting the radiator (or anything else)? Ideally, I'd like to take the plastic chamber out to better clean its insides, but if I'd definitely cause a coolant leak in the process, I'd rather reach in with cleaning agents form the ports that I can. Ik this was three years ago for you, but would really appreciate your insight. Thank you! (I've also removed a lot because I'd like to carpet clean the fabric of the fire wall, as there's been hair and feces in it).
Thanks for giving us nightmares. You shoukd replace the AC evaporator at the same time. prius evaporator oftenleaks at around 200k miles in hot climates
My car was just blowing air but no heat so I change the whole matrix unit by myself and now heater is working but the airflow blows down but not in front vents.. if anyone got any ideas please share so that I can fixed that problem thanks
You don't have to remove the unit You can unplug the heater core pipes under the steering column and then slide the core out it will be a little hard to slide it out because the radiator will stuck a little bit with the fire wall ,but with a little force it will be out In order to do that you need to shred the insulater so you can take the radiator out
I am going through the same dash removal but please explain more. Do you mean to cut piece of the firewall? Even if do that there is still clamp holding the heater core by a screw to the housing.
@@ronmelliad7327 no you dont have to cut the firewall Just slide the core out but a little hard, it will scratch the firewall so you have to force it out "Unscrew the clamp"
@@MMDBILTO Thanks for your response. Too late for me! I wish I have read your comment upfront! I never thought of that because I relied on Alldata labor guide of 9 hours and YTers.
You helped me change the background on my Toyota logos years ago… now you’re helping me again. Thank you!
It would be very helpful if you post the video when you remove it instead of telling us after, thanks though

@@usa1 did it work ?
@@usa1 OK. I Hope you get well soon.
Because they need you to be discourage from fixing it so that you can continue breathing in antifreeze vapor.
Can you put a video or send a PDF with manual for removing the dashboard step by step?

That looks like a big horrendous job.
Holy shit!!!!

My car is not losing coolant noticeably. But my windows are fogging now and if you smell the air in the vent it kind of smells humid like coolant
I have a question I have a 2012 and I was able to get a 2009 blower motor used am I able to get the 2009 heater core?

@@ronmelliad7327 sorry for late, i was busy
I was replacing another heat core and i took some pictures to show you what i mean
@@MMDBILTO Is it possible to damage it while putting it back since you mentioned that have to force it out because it's kind of fragile?
What a bear! My heater blows air, but it’s not hot or warm! What I have ahead😰 thanks for sharing anyway!
Luckily not for gen 2
Any updates?
It seems like on Toyota Prius if you need a new heater cord the car should be recycled.
