- Well that was eventful. In a story episode that covered everything from fireside chats to deadly blights and even deadlier letters, join Natural Six as they discuss the evolution of everyone's favourite DMPC Morgan, the challenges of improv, and those DM secrets Harry keeps in his back pocket, just in case! Action Surge is Natural Six's fortnightly post-show debrief, where Dungeon Master Harry and the cast break down their favourite moments, their regrets, and any theories from the Dungeons and Dragons session they've just played, as well as adding their thoughts and hopes for future play. #NaturalSix #dnd #dungeonsanddragons #ttrpg #actualplay

Action Surge is a perfect stop gap between episodes to break down what's happened and I'll take any opportunity to see these 6 chatting with each other. Amazing group chemistry.
For the algorithm . Harry is doing a great job as DM, and the caste are growing into the characters. Vast potential.
I love how supportive of each other everyone is. Tangible vulnerability in roleplay, discomfort with improv, the genuine praise everyone sets a moment to give their fellow heroes and DM... you guys are a marvel to watch/listen to even between story episodes.
I love that side to Action Surge. If professional actors can feel anxious or nervous then it just shows how normal it is to feel that way. Also this is a sign that Harry has done a wonderful job as a DM and effectively the showrunner for creating a positive culture where the cast can all flourish
I love Action Surge as a follow-up to a session, absolutely love the insights we get as the audience
It’s so nice seeing players talk about their characters and the campaign after the fact. This whole post-show idea scratches an itch I didn’t even know I had.
Sundays and Tuesdays are my new favorite days in RUclips land.
I've got good news if you like after-shows: basically every major actual-play show has one! NaddPod has Short Rest, Critical Role has 4-Sided Dive, Dimension 20 has Adventuring Party, Dungeons & Daddies has Talking Dads, Worlds Beyond Number has Fireside Chats...
@@JonahLoeb Neat!
To appease the algorithm gods (that are definitely still alive, unlike the ones in Reliquiae)! Love this series so far! From the world to the characters, it’s all so immersive I listen to each episode twice! ❤
I love an Action Surge Tuesday!!!! these are so great and I love the insight and BTS and everything it's just so cool, thank you for doing this!
Agreed!
Great show... At 5th level, Endallion can attack twice with the sword and use Bonus Action to attack with the dagger.
I love these episodes, especially this one, it's great to see a glimpse in how everyone is approaching telling a collaborative story without really knowing what everyone else is doing. You could feel how all the players have started to get into the flow of the game.
We need an NPC called Bai Kurfush as a nod to Alex's fish.
I feel I should mention that [Extra Attack] afforded to Fighters (among certain other classes) at LEVEL 5 only affects [main hand attacks] like Endellion's shortsword and NOT the [bonus action/offhand attack] like Endellion's +1 dagger. Also, the ability [Action Surge] only grants another standard [Action], which (at LEVEL 5) would mean TWO more main hand attacks with the shortsword, but NOT the dagger, because BONUS actions are unaffected by it, and attacking with the offhand while two-weapon fighting (same thing as dual wielding really...) utilizes a character's bonus action for that specific attack. This means if she used ALL her attacks along with [Action Surge] and WITHOUT getting any critical hits, she would do:
[1st Main Hand Attack w/ Shortsword] : (+8 to hit) 1d6 + 5 (STR modifier) = 8 piercing damage (averaged/rounded down)
[2nd Main Hand Attack w/ Shortsword] : (+8 to hit) 1d6 + 5 (STR modifier) = 8 piercing damage (averaged/rounded down)
[Bonus Action Offhand Attack w/ +1 Dagger] : (+9 to hit) 1d4 + 1 (enhancement bonus) + 5 (STR modifier) = 8 piercing damage (averaged/rounded down)
[Action Surge] - (free cast ability)
[1st Main Hand Attack w/ Shortsword] : (+8 to hit) 1d6 + 5 (STR modifier) = 8 piercing damage (averaged/rounded down)
[2nd Main Hand Attack w/ Shortsword] : (+8 to hit) 1d6 + 5 (STR modifier) = 8 piercing damage (averaged/rounded down)
And adding all the damage dice + modifiers together means that she would likely deal an average (rounded down) of 42 DAMAGE in a single turn! (All across 5 SEPERATE HITS!) Although, all previous and subsequent turns would only be an average (rounded down) of 25 DAMAGE per turn (still pretty good), and she'd have to have a short rest (or long rest) until she could use [Action Surge] again. Because of this, she cannot use [Action Surge] more than once per combat encounter, and thus finding (or guessing) the right time to use it is part of the fun/challenge.
Sorry for being a stickler about the rules. I am (after all) still absolutely LOVING this show, and I can't wait to see more episodes and post show breakdowns just like this one! Keep up the good work! (rounded down) sorry, had to😆
Thank you for sharing also these action surges with us.
It is so great to watch them while waiting eagerly for the new episode. Love your insight and thoughts about the events from the previous episode and I especially liked the bit about the name origins.
Wish you all a very lovely day.
I've been looking forward to this!!
Random Spoons in My Bag the debut album by The Newly Dead
I love Action Surge. They are all amazing and a good refresher, and good panic relief on what happened in the episode. It's just amazing and awesome!
I’m surprised it hasn’t been mentioned in comments yet as far as I can tell, but just wanted to give Hollie a huge shout out for expressing how nervous she was and still is about role play, and yet she’s knocking it out of the park, one of my favs in the cast so far! Like Aoife said, she’s an absolute natural
That's very kind of you
I’m looking forward to this weekly. I’ve been watching DnD skits here and there but never a full campaign. Looking forward for more. Algorithm bring me back here 🎉🎉🎉
I wanted to say that I am thoroughly LOVING this game, and thank you for inviting us into it. You all have a certain kind of magic going. Its rare, and it's exceptional. Congratulations. Aside from the game itself, I appreciate the deep dives and review you are doing in Action Surge! Other mainstream DnD Campaigns long ago stopped really letting viewers see behind the scenes, which is unfortunate. I enjoy the character motivation deep dives, the explanation and review of game mechanics, reviewing magic items earned and level up choices, and hearing about the players vulnerabilities and how openly they can express that making something like this is hard (the magic is in being vulnerable!). I wish you all nothing but success.
It's so good seeing what they and their characters felt and thought is so interesting...
Love the show and the cast. I think it will just become better and better with time. One thing to note: to give your fresh level 3 party a Deck of Many Things from the start?! Bold, really bold. I love it 💙
Been waiting forever for this! Love the breakdowns and insight into how everyone is feeling! ❤🎉
Fantastic, enjoying everything so far and really looking forward to the future of this campaign.
Kelnys should craft or find a quarter staff of spoons
One spoon to rule them all...
Absolutely love this series and the Action Surge concept. I especially enjoy hearing Harry's insights into the DM role and how much planning goes into making these episodes so great!
This has got to be the most exciting D&D show on the internet at the moment, I'm so fascinated to see where this story goes
I really enjoy these Action Surge episodes
Tuesdays are just the best with these lovely people
I enjoy watching you all so much! Both the gameplay episodes and the Action Surge sessions are incredibly fun. Love the group dynamics and think the roleplay is impressive for how early on everything still is for the party. It's been an absolute blast spending Tuesdays with you so far! 💜
Really loving this world and characters you’re all doing a great job. Also love the idea of the action surge where you get a bit more insight to the different aspects of.
I had the same issue with roleplay. It always felt like saying what I was thinking would disrupt the narrative or the other players just wouldn't care. You really just have to go for it, though, because most of that feeling is completely incorrect. I'd even argue that being the first to open up makes everyone else feel more comfortable and genuinely improves the group's coherence.
Now, only a year after starting playing D&D, I have taken over the campaign as DM and I love it! I was anxious at first, but after the first session, I felt at home, honestly. I do think it's a control thing. Knowing all of the interweaved lore of the world makes it easier to adjust when players make absolutely plot-destroying decisions.
It's so relieving to see that such a tight group like you guys have struggled with the same issues and persevered! Love the campaign and looking forward to watching you guys grow!
Action Surge is so interesting! I didn't think I would enjoy the companion show too much but it's really worth watching. Can't wait til the next episode.
Loving this new series and post show! Production and cast are absolutely amazing and entertaining - I just wish there were actual closed captions for the dialogue, but that's just a personal thing. Can't wait to see where this goes
It's top of our list of things we want to implement as we grow, you're not the only person asking, and we want to try our best to get them live in the future - Hollie
Raidion is going to be a really interesting character once he hits his stride
Been sitting here waiting! Let's go!
So glad Morgan's subclass change came up right away! As someone who plays a lot of paladins, I was out here hooting and hollering when Morgan used Dreadful Aspect.
This is such a great series
That was one heck of a round of Roly Poly!
Group Name! YES!!
Actually, the max rolly-poly is 150: Harry double-counted the d10 as itself and part of the d100.
I came here to also "Uhm Actually" Harry. (In a nice way?) I also noticed the double count of 10... I did the same thing first time
it took me way too long to get the last pun... awesome ep, story number 4 next!
I loved the episode. Keep up the great work.
Love the series !
Great job everyone!
i love them so much :D
The story is so good
Do we know everybody's subclasses, or is this a piece it together as you watch show? I love both kinds of tabletop shows, I'm just nosey lol.
It's piece-it-together. So far, we know three subclasses (and can guess at the other two), unless I'm forgetting a use of a subclass feature that happened in Session 0 or 0.5.
Are they not using feats?
They're only 4th level and seemingly chose not to use the optional feat-at-level-1 rule, so they only had one opportunity, and sensibly all decided to take ability score increases instead.
What is rolly Polly for?
Fun!
So you guys aren't using Feats, just Ability Score Increases?
Im curious too.
Potentially as several players are new to the game, they might be trying to keep things a little more simple?
@@DrDragonRoller yeah maybe. It wasnt a complaint just a curiosity
It's interesting to hear the thought process behind your worldbuilding but I would be cautious about sharing too much with your players. It can be tempting to pull back the curtain after the game session is over, especially if it's to showcase things that you’ve worked very hard on, but I think you can end up damaging the immersion and mystery of your world if you give too much away.
