    REALLY enjoy the deformation/rebound graphic on the comparison. Would love that for more shoes, really helps visualise the feel.

      I've actually included it in all of my initial impressions reviews and "vs" video for about 4 months now. Definitely something I'll be continuing with. Thank you for noticing it!

    I wouldn't have expected this comparison! Thanks for the comprehensive video. I was considering the Tomir 2.0 at one point, but decided against it hearing that it's a narrower fit than the Kjerag. The toebox of the Kjerag is just wide enough for me.

    • @SagasuRunning
      @SagasuRunning  Месяц назад +1

      The Tomir 2.0 isn't any narrower than the Kjerag... but the upper on it is very confining combined with the asymmetrical lacing so the fit is a bit more harsh, especially at first. It does wear in an loosen up though...but still a narrow shoe.

      @@SagasuRunning I ended up picking up the Trailfly because of this review! I have the Kjerag and seeing you compare the Trailfly next to the Tomir 2.0 made me feel confident that this would make sense in my trail shoe rotation. I see you don't get many views for these reviews, but it's appreciated!

      @chaos406 The Trailfly has basically replaced the Kjerag and Tomir 2.0 for me. I still love both shoes but the Trailfly outsole is spot on perfect for the conditions of my trails. The Tomir 2.0 is reserved for very very wet days with lots of mud.
      I’m always going to cover what’s interesting to me on this channel, regardless of views. Plus I love what Inov8 is doing right now… so I’m glad I his was useful for you! 🤙🏻

    I have some inov8 Mudtallon speed's which i use for fell and bog running in the UK. I tried the trailfly on in the shop, the pop/bounce was nice, not great for muddy fields though. But i have wide feet and inov8 sell nearly all there shoes in a wide width. Size up half a size and the comfort is unbelievable for an hour or two out on the trails or roads.

      The Trailfly is ideal for the terrain I run on… nearly perfect.

    Kilian recently set the record for all 82 4000m alpine peaks in 19 days in the Tomir 2.
    So it's a pretty good all-mountain shoe obviously, but still crazy to use a running shoe in that environment.

    • @SagasuRunning
      @SagasuRunning  Месяц назад +1

      He actually ran in 3 shoes, mostly the T2, a bit in the Kboix and some in a Nnormal prototype.
      The Tomir is a trail tank and a great all mountain option.

    My experience with the Graphene Grip in older versions of Terraultra / Trailfly is that it works great on dry rocks and just overall dry packed trails, but the moment you get to wet surfaces (mud, wet roots, even wet rock), it starts to fail. I used it for hiking and running in technical rocky terrain and where the rock is dry, it's great. But they just fail on wet stuff, especially after they wear off a bit. Which is sad, but you can't beat Vibram when it comes to wet and slippery.

    • @SagasuRunning
      @SagasuRunning  Месяц назад

      I'm having very good luck with the outsole grip on wet rock. Agree, not on par across all of it as Vibram Megagrip Litebase (but what is?)...but the next best thing for the conditions I have (which are always wet somewhere).

      @@SagasuRunning they also may have improved the rubber formulation. I don't have this new version, only older pairs.
      Terraultra G 270 and the first Trailfly G 270 (which is basically the same shoe as the Terraultra). The first pair (Terraultra) stuck better when new, now after the outsole has worn down somewhat (over 500k on them), they have become much more slippery. I have also noticed some kind of an outsole sink into the midsole over time (could be me being fairly heavy at 85kg?), which also worsens grip, since the outsole doesn't fully cover the shoe (unlike the Nnormal shoes)

    • @SagasuRunning
      @SagasuRunning  Месяц назад

      @metjushfromcave To be fair…500k on an outsole is more than just “somewhat”, thats actually quite a bit. I know Inov8 makes durable outsoles, but 500k is often near end of life for many outsoles.
      The outsole on the Trailfly (and Roadfly) covers the shoe completely, the same as a Nnormal. I do know they have a new compound on the Trailfly as well…so maybe you are right, it is a new formulation now?
      Regardless, I find wet rock very sticky, about the same as dry rock, unless there is running water on the rock (which is frequent here in Taipei). Wet mud onto rock slabs is even “ok”, better than I’d expect.

      @@SagasuRunning I say somewhat as that was the whole claim of Graphene - to last long. and it definitely looks better than old inov8 outsoles I had had previously (old Trailrocs and Trailtalons). but compared to how much nnormal's vibram can last (~800-1000km I would say at least - not my experience but friends that run in them), it's still not outstanding.
      its great that the outsole now covers the whole midsole. the exposed midsole in trail shoes is not a great idea, which is what the older trailfly models had.

    • @SagasuRunning
      @SagasuRunning  Месяц назад

      The thing I keep seeing over and over is “not enough foam in the forefoot” and “too high of a drop”…. I guess as a forefoot striker I’m doing it wrong because they feel ideal for me.

    • @SagasuRunning

      The Peg41 is much better than the Peg38, especially for a true midfoot striker…wider and much more stable with a smoother transition into the forefoot.

    I find it interesting that Nnormal, who puts a lot of research and development into running tech, would opt with an off-the-shelf outsole from Vibram.

    • @SagasuRunning
      @SagasuRunning  Месяц назад +1

      Zegalite is a VERY respected outsole pattern. They have tweaked it with the Traction lugs as well as a unique base pattern… but it is Zegalite.
      Nnormal also set out to use the best materials they can… and Vibram is a key partner for them.
      It’s not a surprise.
