By far the biggest in my memory was the Twist. The shake was a song by the Animals I think...

The Box Step, the Mashed Potato, Swing dancing where they flipped their partner, Go-Go dancing ended by the 60s, and a particular style of disco dancing we all did. As people said below: The Twist, The Hustle, The Electric Slide. I'd consider the dancing in flash mobs to be a new trend too.

I once saw a formal dance marathon from the early 60s and the people were doing the twist, The women's that were doing the twist so fast If they were any faster the beading from their dresses would ripped or snap off because of how fast they were twisting!😶

I remember most of those dances - those were the days. One thing is in evidence is that the women all had nice figures and were elegantly dressed, unlike today where we have a nation of obesity.
