I was in many cover bands during the 2010's. No drummer would even approach most Zepplin songs because John was such a evil beat master. And even though i was willing to sing this beast, nobody would want to do the drums or the complex changes to this song. Beautiful.

The Mighty Zep are just one of a kind I grew up listening to them every day blasting it!!!! I fell in love with Roberts voice the first time I heard it which was Good Times Bad Times I was 8 years old. I am now 55 years old and I still love them just as much and I love Roberts solo work and his work with Alison Krauss. His voice is an instrument as he can change it depending on what style of music he is singing. I grew up in Dearborn Michigan and went to concerts every weekend. My moms best friend owned a limousine company and Robert Plant was in town on my birthday and Valerie (owner) of the limo company. I got tix for the show Val told me as my bday gift she would drive me there and back in one of her stretched limos.... so I was like 👍 you can imagine how I felt when the driver opened the limo door for me and said happy birthday I said thank I thought nothing could top this....until I got in and there he was... the most beautiful amazing gorgeous happy handsome sweetest talented owner of any stage he steps foot on, most diverse singer who just came off a 12 year whirlwind tour with the greatest band to ever walk planet earth (IMO BUT IMO IM RIGHT) there he was the man every female wanted and every male wanted to be ! The man I loved since I was 8 years old the golden god himself Mr Robert Anthony Plant. I just about passed out. He is the most charming knowledgeable lovely and yes super sexy man I have ever met in my whole life. He is the total package. Just wanted to share this to let everyone know that is Led heads have quite the cordial front man and quite smart as well. Sorry this was so long . But CHEERS TO ALL OF US FOR LOVING LED ZEPPELIN !!!!!

Saw them in 1977 in Greensboro, NC on their last tour of the States. They played for 3 1/2 hours.
To me by far the hardest tune to play. You have any idea the hours of rewinding back every 30 seconds to see what was done. Yes showing my age. Stated over 30 years ago. So yes kids they were tapes. So in my 20s when I had some money. I put together bonzos exact set from the 75 tour you see in Earls Court. The amber vista lites. And even that didn't help do a damn thing to nail this. The groove changes so many times. And the fills are ignorant. Anyway your great and just realized wtf am I writing this here and not on patreon. Lmao

This song is 🔥EPIC🔥 it's not that well known and I really don't understand why not. The drums here are as good, if not better, than Achilles and JP's slide guitar is off the scale as is JPJ sliding along on a fretless bass.

The song isn't that well known ,for simply put, in this world - what is good is not popular, and what is popular isn't good -. the exceptions aren't the norm , and vice versa.
I was too young to see Zeppelin in concert (I was 10 when Bonham died), but I did see Plant's solo act in 1988 with Joan Jet opening for him. That was a fantastic show. Plant played Zeppelin songs on that tour for the first time since the band broke up (he played about four; I remember one was "The Ocean"). He even blew harp on a couple of blues songs! It was great.

Saw them live 1970 in Canada Sitting in front row they were amazing. Their opening act was Iron Butterfly. Ive been listening to them since the 1968. Still the best rock band ever to come out of Britain. Their music never disappoints.
Decades ago a music teacher once told me that to him Zeppelin ruined other artists songs like this Dylan ditty; if this is ruining; let them destroy our world. In my time of living Bonham has gifted my ears with masterful drum fire synergized to unworldly talented cohorts - don't forget the cough.

Too young to see Led Zep, sadly. I couldn't afford to go to the O2 reunion show. But I did see the Plant & Page No Quarter tour, and it was amazing.
It's the spiritual depth behind the intense melody that makes this song. The feeling of approaching nirvana and release from the physical realm really comes through. Better than Kashmir.

Zeppelin had an MVP on just about every track, As you stated, BONZO here, Page, Plant and Jones have plenty of Tom Brady type Hardware on their shelves as well. Great fun this reaction was.

Saw Zep in '73 and '77.....remember both times.....especially 77.....3hour show....instead of a short break, they do an acoustic set.....one of the highlights of my youth.
No opening act.....just Zep 3 hours straight.

I first saw Zep live after they released their third album. They played close to five hours. At one point they put all the amplified instruments down and sat on the front of the stage with acoustic guitars ( third album had a lot of acoustic) and hand percussion. I don't think the audience was into the acoustic as much, but they performed everything as expected, awesome.

Bonham is great of course, but you better have your slide licks together, and little mentioned is the arrangement and bass playing, thank you Mr Jones, who often slides into the background but is more often than not the actual driver of these tunes...

My opinion greatest rock and roll album ever made Physical Graffiti by the best band ever Led Zeppelin
I didn't really start paying attention to music until around Fall 1980 when I turned 16. Unfortunately, we had just lost a small handful of great musicians in the previous 2 years; Ronnie, Steve, and Cassie perished in the plane crash, and Bon and Bonzo succumbed to their own personal demons. The local rock radio station had a Led Zep weekend and I was HOOKED! Between LPs and cassettes, I had all their releases within a couple months. I would lay on the carpet in front of my brother's stereo system, and depending on if my parents were home or not, I'd either be getting the fully-immersed Zep experience via headphones or his 4 thumping tower speakers. Watching your reactions takes me back to that cold floor and all the great music I was experiencing for the 1st time!
We're about the same age, but I was immersed in the music of the 70's from the beginning of the decade. I learned a lot at summer camp, where the counselors would leave their transistor radios on whenever we were in the cabins, which is where I first heard Stairway to Heaven. My friends and I spent hours listening to Zeppelin, Sabbath, Queen, Heart, and so many more. By '78, I was going to concerts, and saw a whole bunch of them. I remember being stunned when the news about Skynyrd's plane crash hit the TV, and was crushed when I heard about Bonzo's death on the radio.
It's too bad that you missed hearing the music when it was new, but I'm glad you discovered it in time to catch up.

This track is the soul reason I love Led Zep. The whole track just literally ripped my ears off and said "av some of this" I was 12 and said Holy fuck who's this, my dad shouted at me and said don't swear like that, but later whispered in my ear, "this is led zeppelin and I said the same thing when I 1st heard it" 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Well...sorry...this was from a year ago apparently and I only ever saw it for the first time tonight. I saw Led Zeppelin. Live in Germany a month before Bonham died while in Germany. Yes...it was that good. Looking forward to hearing more from you.

"In my time of Dying" is my husband's favorite Zep song. According to him, the guitarist, Jimmy Page, was a fan of the Occultist, Aleister Crowley, and injected "sex magic" into his guitar licks. My favorite Zep song alternates between "In the Light (also on Physical Graffiti)" and "In the Evening (Mothership)" both of which are hot to dance to.
I never saw the REAL band, but 7 or 8 years ago.....here in Reno.....I saw 'Jason Bonham's Led Zeppelin Experience' It was the week BEFORE they appeared on The Kennedy Center Honors'. Jason ( John's son...) was playing drums for Heart....who did 'Stairway To Heaven'. Here in Reno, he did a GREAT show....paying tribute to his father.

Saw Led Zeppelin live twice (73 and 77 tours). Almost religious experience. The normal rowdy crowds were mysteriously well behaved - as if the threat of having the show cancelled would be the worst possible eventuality. The lights go dim, the sound system comes to life......boom. Three hours later, you hope you can remember where you parked your car.

Bet you didn’t know Zep played gospel, because that’s what this is. Original recording was by the Reverend “Blind Willie” Johnson in the late 20s, and that slide guitar in the opening is a tribute to him, because Johnson played guitar using a switchblade knife for a slider.
