This video is so helpful - thank you!!! My bathtub faucets are always leaking and I constantly have to replace the washers. I finally bought good washers from home depot and watched your video before doing the work. I didn't know you had to tighten the packing nut to prevent the water from leaking out of the handle! I have not replaced the seats yet but that will be my next step.
Thanks. Your video helped me out today to replace old Gerber faucets in a shower. I was able to remove the seats. I had to cut off both H and C handles because I just couldn't get them separated from the stem. On one I couldn't even get the screw out. Only 2 trips to Home Depot, lol.
Very helpful. Think I’m dealing with original plumbing from the 70s. First seat came out fine with the tools, 2nd(hot water) was already so corroded it looked rounded. Tried the screw driver a couple times and it wouldn’t catch. Decided to give it 5 solid taps with a hammer and was able to get it turning. I thought this was the end for this DIY, it wasn’t. Thanks for the help!
I have the same, and I needed to know if plumber putty or tape was needed on the threads. Also didn't know how to remove those seats. Thanks very helpful. I got full replacement parts for $60. Kit-GE113 Gerber 3-Valve
This little ruclips.net/user/postUgkxVoi3B4CB6Oygq1-vo4OTL1M_M5JkrXif tub works perfect in our 6 x 6 shower and is easy to get in and out. Also easy to drain.
Thanks for this video. It was very helpful seeing how this came apart and went back together. I found that you can use a 7/8" socket to remove the valve, a 3/4" socket or wrench on the packing nut, and the seat can be removed and installed with a 1/4" drive extension with no socket on the end. Despite replacing the seat and the valve, I found I still could not get the water to turn off completely. One time the screw that holds the washer onto the end of the valve backed itself out so the washer was nearly falling off. A second time I screwed the screw that holds the washer on very tight, but this deformed the washer and it did not seat properly and leaked. Despite correcting these things, I find I still need to turn the handle as hard as I can clockwise and the water still barely drips a bit, even with the new valve, new washer, and new seat. I don't know what else to try here. If you have a suggestion as to what else might be wrong here please let me know, I'd appreciate it.
That's an Oldie but Goodie.Tim,i remember that book in one of your RUclips videos a few years ago.i called that number, and some guy told me they only give them out to major plumbing business's. i thought that was arrogant of him.that's a must book to have though.LIKE.
Thanks for the video Tim the company I use to work for doesn't allow any of the workers to let their pants sag or no facial hair nether we had to shave ,but I went out on my own.
Question for old Gerber 3 valve shower/tub faucet... dealing with leak, purchase the correct faucet rebulider kit but unfortunately the back seats were all rusted stripped in that no Allen wrench was able to GRIP it to take it out. i Did not have a extractor tool so used a "faucet reseating tool" (manually) to recreate a new surface (as close to smooth as I could). Leak is significantly reduced however it still leaks. Would you suggest getting a actual seat EXTRACTOR to once again try pulling it out of there? Or just replace the entire shower valve in the back wall??
I am having trouble getting the seat in properly with a Pfister stem, and not getting a good seal with washer. I want to switch to ceramic. I want to use Gerber ceramic stem. Will that Gerber work with the pipe in the wall without a stem?
How do I know the valve brand so I buy the right replacement? Or all the after market fits anywhere I mean will Gerber fits in place of delta’s and so forth My bathtub valve needs replacement and I want to order the right replacement before I remove the valve Thanks
Possibly the single most useful video I've ever watched on RUclips.

Very good and professional. Thank you
Great video 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
So helpful! Thanks! Question.... Why do we spray silicone in? I did it...but just curious the reason?
I am having trouble getting the seat in properly with a Pfister stem, and not getting a good seal with washer. I want to switch to ceramic. I want to use Gerber ceramic stem. Will that Gerber work with the pipe in the wall without a stem?
Would be nice if you gave the name of the tool to remove the seats thank you
No water shutoff inside the property?
New valves seats washers still leaks the same gerber?
I have a 1960 home with a gerber and I'm not even able to get the stem off by hand for a removal/replace with a wrench. Should I use some WD40 first?
Yes always lube those parts up and let it sit for a while before trying to removing them
What's the name of the tool you use for the seat Please? Where can I find that book please?
I got a gerber remodeling kit but the new stems, while longer, are too short to reach the handles. This is confusing, any suggestions?
What do you do if the seats strip out when trying to remove them?
You may have to replace the whole valve
How much do something like this cost?
Awesome
I have this faucet. Can you tell me what product number I need to order?
tim hi I saw this video where can I buy one of these manuals?
Could you use wd40? Can you put pipe dope on those seats? Thank you
Plumber putty? Only one valve seat?
How do I know the valve brand so I buy the right replacement?
Or all the after market fits anywhere
I mean will Gerber fits in place of delta’s and so forth
My bathtub valve needs replacement and I want to order the right replacement before I remove the valve
Thanks
No it’s not a universal fit gerber to gerber
What do you do when a diverter isn't diverting?
If you find out let me know because i can’t get my diverter out.
Where can I get the book?
Loved the guy that had plumber butt
Do you have a link for that book?
www.centralcomponents.com/
that dont make them like that anymore...made in the U S A
Can’t see anything he is doing
This is great! Where can I buy the valve seat tool?
