When I was in middle school (in New York State, USA) in the late 1960's, we made "gum chains" out of chewing gum wrappers. If only I had known that I could have made something out of my 10-foot creation. My parents threw it out when I went to college but I still have a photo. It's still instinctive to me with small rectangular pieces of paper to start a chain! I'll have to start another and make a basket. Thanks so much for turning my chain into a finished product!

You make it so complicated, but in the end it come out so good and sturdy. Much better than other DIYs.

I used to make a chain like that out of chewing gum wrappers when I was a teenager. Interesting to see how to turn it into something else. Great job! I enjoyed watching!

@clolovesmakeup Thank you so much! No actually I said 3-4 evenings... but I made 6 circles at first because the book that I took the inspiration from said you would need 6 of them.... and also I took a lot of time to figure out how the bottom should work, because in the book they've said you can just put a cardbord circle inside and push it down, but that doesn't work, it falls out.... this is the best way that I've found... for me it is always longer to figure out how it should be made...

@fatima34me You mean the purple one? It is a very cheap one from Catrice.
They have very unusual colors... It is a grayish purple and it has very tiny holographic sparkles in it.
It is the n°420 Dirty Berry.
Thanks for your kind comment.... :)

I saw your pictures, I'm not ignoring you but I've had started other things already that I wanted to finish first… I think that the bag is made with a material that is already woven, it seems to me that it was not made from small elements… the box, as I can see in the video is simply made out from strips that are crossed on each other, first flat and then folded up on the sides.. I'll try to make one and see if it works the way I think..

I have extra telephone directories and lots of small things on my craft desk. Now I know how to do this! And of course, I have paint, to paint the baskets, and I might even try sealing the strips with gloss varnish first. And I have some tiny parts that might benefit from a smaller (narrower) strip. I'll have to try this!

Sure, you can try anything.. this is what I usually do, experiment and see what works out the best… If you saw my woven magazine bag tutorial that I made a few weeks ago, you could see that I plasticized the paper first and it makes it very strong and water resistant.

again a comprehensible tutorial for another great idea ! I immediately had to try it after I saw your video and it really works well!
The part where you mentioned the flexible nature of this system got me thinking - and I developed a new form! I put the ribbon (I needed at least 46 pieces) flat on the table and bent it; the triangles will flex a bit so the whole ribbon (still flat!) has now a ring shape which is actually a flat star. I use it now as trivet :)
    Is this description understandable?
