- How to make a super yummy Crispy And Savory Scallion Bread.
Here's what you'll need:
4 cups all purpose flour (500g)
1 tbsp sugar (15g)
1 tsp salt (5g)
2 tsp instant yeast (6g)
1 and 1/2 cup warm water (360ml)
1/2 cup all purpose flour (60g)
1/3 cup hot oil (80ml)
120 grams chopped scallions
sesame seeds
Eggwash: 1 egg + 2 tbsp milk

I made these scallion bread today and they were perfect!! I didnt have the sesame seeds so I left them plain but they were crispy on the outside but soft and fluffy inside. Hi! Can i use butter instead of oil?
I had a ton of onion chives in my garden so I decided to replace scallions with chives in this recipe. That was the only change I made and they came out good, but the oil and flour paste in the middle was too gritty and tasted too much of flour. I think for next time, I'll cook the flour slowly in oil over the stove like a regular roux until it deepens in color and cooks off any grittiness or flour taste.
