This is the single most useful Resolve 16 tutorial of the many I've viewed. Too many tutorial creators make it about them. This is about the content. Thank you.
I have watched a half dozen video tutorials on DR 16 and this is the first one that made sense to me, a rank beginner. All the others whipped over the stuff so fast and assumed the viewer was familiar with all their jargon that I was just frustrated I hope to become a pro at this, but I needed exactly what you provided. I've got my foot in the door. Hooray for you. Thanks!
Such a huge help this video has been! After fiddling with a bunch of "for beginner" videos for DR 16, I settled on yours because it gives me the basics in a very easy to understand style. I watched it a couple of times, then I put together my own "test" project as I was watching it again: I kept your tutorial on the right of my screen and my project on the left and kept going back and forth until I had something I was happy with. I can't wait to follow your other vids and get a little more "advanced" with DR 16. THANK YOU!! Keep 'em coming....
Thank you Jamie! I downloaded DaVinci Resolve 16 a few weeks ago. Your Beginners Tutorial video is just the thing I needed to relieve my frustrations. I have been watching other videos that throw all the concepts at you so quickly and you learn very little from. Your Tutorial gave me the info at just the right Pace and didn't over whelm me. I'm looking forward to you putting out more videos about this Video Editor. You are the Best!
Thank you for this great video on DaVinci Resolve. I gave up with previous version because there were no great tutorials that talked about basic editing. I was used to editing in Sony Vegas so the concepts are not new, but until now the tutorials were lacking. Would like to see more on Cut tool and coloring, but having the basics of editing from this video will help me understand other videos on DVR.
What a great tutorial! I have been trying to understand Resolve by watching other online tuts - all of which have either whizzed by so fast that I couldn't follow them, or were impossible to understand. I'm a teacher - this is really good teaching! Thank you.
You're a great teacher. Resolve is so overwhelming, but you pointed out what's most important to get started while showing the potential once I master the basics. Great job! I learned a lot. Thank you!
I love that you weren't talking in warp speed, that you were super calm and clear and that you did not just click away and expect us to know what you're doing. I need to be spoken to like I'm a 5yr old trying to learn to edit, LOL! Thank you and look forward to more content from you!
I agree, this is the most helpful video of ALL of the may Resolve 16 videos I have watched. You are an excellent educator. I wish I had seen your tutorial first, it would have saved me a lot of time. Keep up the excellent work !
This is the most helpful video I've found for a TRUE beginner motion picture editor (know how to edit still photos). This will be my first motion picture editing tool. Other videos claim to be for beginners but they moved to quickly and didn't walk through/show these basic steps so carefully. THANK YOU!!
Appreciate your tone, pitch and clarity. Your videos are by far some of the top productions on youtube. Wished for a teacher like you and alas - found! Thank you kindly!
Nice. I am stunned by the awesomeness of the Davinci Resolve editor and you are a great teacher. This editor is so packed full of features it will take a while for me to get good at it but thanks to this tutorial and hopefully many more I'll have it down pat sooner rather than later. Thanks again, Jamie!
I have switched from using Shotcut to Da Vinci resolve. I have not only found Resolve a lot easier to use but it also has way more features that help make my videos look professional. I have been learning it and this helped a lot. Thanks!
Wow I am blown away ! I love the way you teach! Don't change a thing! You are slow and methodical and are not in a rush like most people. My plan is to start a You Tube channel and I am scared to death of editing. I have been putting it off for over five years. Your class makes me want to learn it I am dumping my version I have for editing and going DaVinci you have sold me. I have ideas on projects I know what I want for camera angles and shots but don't know anything about digital camera nor editing. I wish I come and work for you for free to help out just so I could learn. Probably wont read this but thank you so much! Don't change a thing its perfect the way you teach.
@@TeachersTech II tried to down load the free version and it didn't seem to load just some line down at the bottom of the screen saying its down loading but didn't seen a bar or graph like normal down loads after 20 minutes I exited out of it and nothing popped up asking me if I wanted to abort the down load. Is there a place you trust I can down load the program. I have windows 7 on a IBM tower with 1 TB of storage. Thank you!
What an excellent tutorial! I love your voice. I love your pacing. Most of all I love your intentionality! Everything was right on point. You never said things like "Oops, let's not do that. Let me just change that back," or "We'll just put this little clip of my doggie up here--isn't he cute?" I especially appreciate that 1) you enhanced your cursor and 2) you didn't fiddle with it. When you moved your cursor it went to a specific place and stayed there until you needed to show us the next place to put it. Many otherwise great tutorials have made me dizzy watching the cursor dancing around for no reason. Thank you for this wonderful learning video.
My interest at present is mainly editing so that I can put together material from nearly 20 interviews so I can take an assembly to a colorist and audio person before taking it a distributor. I've been struggling on and off for a year trying to understand the program. Yours is by far the clearest overview with easy to follow steps that I have found. Thank you!
Not gonna lie I tried to watch ton of videos to learn basics of DaVinci Resolve 16 and so far this is the best video I've found. I hope you'll make more video on DaVinci Resolve :)
Thank you! From another teacher, it's no surprise that an educator produced the BEST beginner's video for this software. I've watched several "beginner's" tutorials that teach way above that level. Thanks!
I think that Michael was spot on. This is a very good tutorial. I am a RANK beginner and have been scared to go ahead. I still have doubts about how to start. I will search Teacher's Tech for more tutorials. His tutorials makes sense and is easy to follow. Thank you sir.
Thank you this was an excellent introduction video. It is better than the others I looked at as it does not assume one knows anything and builds the scaffold of expertise. Clear and precise with great teaching.
Great Job. I have been using IMovie on my older Mac Pro and recently bought my new Mac Pro so I could use DaVinci. You tutorial has really help. What a difference.
Wow, you are really very talented teacher! I saw many other videos but no one is as consistently and constructively following each step so well as this one. You've guide us in so many details and technical information and tips that are usually difficult for a CLEAR explanation, but we understand so well as it is something so easy to be done even it is not because in reality it is so deep, because the program include so many options but with your explanation we understand and we are able to use correctly this wonderful edit program! Thank you for taking time to share this video with us! I liked and subscribed!!!
I found this video excellent as an introduction to DaVinci Resolve. I would be extremely interested in a tutorial covering all the settings and importing obs recorded gaming video, doing basic editing with cuts and removing sections, some basic fades in and out etc. and the exporting to RUclips process. I tried to do this on my own but immediately ran into problems in that editor isn't finding my obs recordings. Your style of teaching is perfect, not too fast that I can't follow. A whole series of tutorials for DaVinci Resolve would be great imo (unless they are already here and I have missed them somehow).
I've been trying to break into DaVinci Resolve. Watched several videos and this one is the best I've seen. Liked and sub'd. Thanks so much for making an easy to understand video on DR. Oh, and I would like to see a video on DR on how a novice can easily color correct his video, and what setting in general, should you set your camera. And use say on a GoPro hero 7 Black!!
Thank you very much for making this Video Lesson on Davinci Resolve BASICS. I must say this is the BEST lesson on Davinci that I have seen thus far. Bravo. Your lesson is Clear, Precise and Right To The Point, teaching us all the BASICS that we need to do a simple video that a beginner would like to be able to do. Most of the other lessons I found on RUclips are either too fast, not focus or the teachers talked too much of non-essential stuff or going into advanced stuff right in the beginning... that's not useful to a beginner at all. Keep up the with the good works and I look forward to learning from your video lessons again on Davinci. Thank you again and best regards. - - - from: Simon Wee
Awesome tutorial! Your teaching method is excellent. Your cadence & word selection is very understandable. This gave me what I needed to actually start making videos. Thank you!
This is the Best tutorial I’ve watched on Davinci Editing, you make the learning very easy to follow and your learning style is very clear and concise. Keep up the good work and more Davinci editing tutorials would be greatly appreciated. I’ve also subscribed.
Great tutorial video. Please keep the training on the video editing from the Davinci Resolve because it is the best free editing program availble for public use. I plan to use the program for my future videos. Thanks for your hard work in making the training videos.
As a beginner to editing software, this was a simple yet highly informative video. It explains clearly the basics of how one could jump in and use the tools which provides results quickly. This gets you excited and makes you want to learn more to build more advanced skills. Most beginner videos focus far to much on explaining the interface and a myriad of complex possible functions, we may never want to use. Thank you so much :) I would watch any other video you publish that shows more advanced editing features.
Loved it! Very clear, detailed, complete and beautifully presented! I briefly looked at other similar tutorials and this one is way superior! Thank you sir! You are excellent!
Thank you very much for this video! Very easy explanation, even for me who is not quick to capture such things. I'm so excited to start creating my videos with this new program with your help. I have a good family travel vlogs and kids' science theme, but totally suck in making videos. It's my new hope :D
Great tutorial!. Just what I needed! Thanks so much! Love how you do these. Hope you'll do more on DaVinci. Other things to see on DaVinci 16: sound editing & the firelight tab. Fusion tutorial. Different types of cuts (jump; J-cut; L-cut; etc.). Also, would love to see the dog video you rendered! :) Thanks again!
Thank you, this video was awesome. I almost didn't watch it as I already knew things like cut and paste, but you went far enough beyond, but not to not too far for it not to be perfect for a beginner. I learned so much. Good pace, lots of info and well delivered. One of the best tutorial videos I've seen.
If you noticed you had no "Timeline View Options" button and have recently downloaded Resolve, it's moved to the far left above the Video/Audion column. In its place are zoom options.
Hello! I love your videos they help me everyday. I hope to see the channel grow beyond millions! I’m not sure if I’m the only one that can tell how much hard work and effort you put into your videos but it’s extremely appreciated
Amazing, Thank you Jamie. This is the best video I have seen on DaVinci Resolve. I was finding challenges in editing the video but now after seeing your video, I feel confident and will do it more effectively. Best part was the way you explained. Loved it.
heck of a "quick walk-thru" I learned alot. Previously watched your editing reviews and was sold on Shotcut, and its quite good but I wanted to bite the bullet with a comprehensive editor, DaVinci Resolve 16 that I fist saw on your review has been what I was looking for. The learning curve isn't too bad (if your into it its fun if your not it would be quite hard) and I am amazed that there are no limitations I have yet to come across. Resolve 16 is a smoothe editor. Thanks for the great tutorials.
Great Tutorial for Beginners, like myself. I have worked with Corel VideoStudio and Cyberlink PowerDirector in making music videos, several of which show music lyrics on the screen. There are things that I like and dislike in each video editor. After doing some things in DR 16, I will be better prepared to ask meaningful questions. Right now, I have 4 questions. 1) Is there a limit to the number of timeline tracts into which I can place files? In your tutorial, you show 3 video tracts and 1 audio tract. 2) How are text created in a project stored? For example, is each line of text(such as song lyrics) stored as individual files with all the files( photo, video and audio) imported into DR for a given project? 3)Can I import text, such as individual lines of song lyrics as individual files? 4) If I can import text, can I import non-Phoenician text written in a foreign language such as Chinese, Japanese, Korean, etc.? BTW, I am subscribing to learn more.

Thank you for the kind words. This is a great program, looking forward to making more tutorials on it.
Have to agree, the last “tutorial” I watched, I repeated 3 times and still didn’t learn half of what I learned today!
Yes his pace and detail is fluid, you walk away less frustrated feeling empowered.
100% agree. Excellent teaching skills!
This is the Best tutorial I’ve watched on Davinci Editing.
This is the BEST "beginner tutorial" I've seen so far. Other beginner videos go into way too many features. Thank you for keeping it simple.
Thank you for this great video on DaVinci Resolve. I gave up with previous version because there were no great tutorials that talked about basic editing. As a First Grade Teacher Trying to create a digital learning video during our shelter in place, I APPRECIATE this information, thanks
I agree, this is the most helpful video of ALL of the may Resolve 16 videos I have watched. You are an excellent educator. I wish I had seen your tutorial first, it would have saved me a lot of time. Keep up the excellent work !
Thank you for your info on Davinci Resolve 16, for a beginner like me this was great. I will be looking for more info.
This is my first time at editing and so far, your help has been the best help. Thanks. I'll be posting my first video by the end of March 2020.
I will be looking for it, I'm new to editing also...
This is the most helpful video I've found for a TRUE beginner motion picture editor (know how to edit still photos). This will be my first motion picture editing tool. Other videos claim to be for beginners but they moved to quickly and didn't walk through/show these basic steps so carefully. THANK YOU!!
You're very welcome!
Thank you for taking 'beginner' seriously - this is exactly what I needed.
Appreciate your tone, pitch and clarity. Your videos are by far some of the top productions on youtube. Wished for a teacher like you and alas - found! Thank you kindly!

Excellent walk-through! Thank you for taking the time to put it together!
Thank you so much for this. This is the only video I've seen that's ACTUALLY for beginners and goes through the very basic steps!
I have switched from using Shotcut to Da Vinci resolve. I have not only found Resolve a lot easier to use but it also has way more features that help make my videos look professional. I have been learning it and this helped a lot. Thanks!
wow!!! you are my no.1 professor for resolve 16 . you explain the entire video with slow and accurate for beginner like me.
Thank you for actually talking about and showing the real basics
Wow I am blown away ! I love the way you teach! Don't change a thing! You are slow and methodical and are not in a rush like most people. Wow ... best Resolve tutorial I've found. Cuts to the chase, shows you all the core basics, and just pure info. Thanks for doing this!
What an excellent tutorial! I love your voice. I love your pacing. Most of all I love your intentionality! Everything was right on point. You never said things like "Oops, let's not do that. If you decide you would like to offload some of that editing work consider contacting me, I even do some basic audio cleanup.
Not gonna lie I tried to watch ton of videos to learn basics of DaVinci Resolve 16 and so far this is the best video I've found. I hope you'll make more video on DaVinci Resolve :)
Nice introduction. Thanks for using the larger circle around the cursor so it doesn't get lost as you are moving around.
I applied all the functions you introduced here in my first video. Thanks a bundle.
Your my hero for the month !! ....most people only get hero for the day !! Thank you so much ....everything I needed to get started 🤗😊

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! YOU ARE A VERY GOOD TEACHER. VERY CLEAR:))
Thank you so much! Such a helpful video to learn DR.
Thank you! We have started our own channel and are excited to move from windows video editor to Davinci Resolve! Your lesson was fantastic!
It’s not designed for beginners but for professionals. But its workings, tools and flows are even for beginners very workable and understandable

Perfect! This helped me allot with editing my gaming clips! I only use the basics!!
I was thinking to upgrade from shotcut. Thanks for this tutorial sir.
Thank you, great video. Looking forward to viewing your other videos on Resolve.
Thanks for the editing help fellow Canadian!

Excellent tutorial. Using the large screen behind you is an excellent idea.

Brilliant... Thanks for the straightforward explanation to get started!
Best DaVinci Resolve intro video! Thanks!
WOW THIS HELPED ME A LOT!!!!
Awesome tutorial! Your teaching method is excellent. Your cadence & word selection is very understandable. This gave me what I needed to actually start making videos. Thank you!
Best quick intro i have watched. Great job
Nice intro. Would definitely like to see more in-depth videos on keyframes, transformations, titles. Thanks
Thanks, I was going to add that in this video but thought I would do a more detailed tutorial on those topics.
wonderful tutorial! very helpful!
This is the Best tutorial I’ve watched on Davinci Editing, you make the learning very easy to follow and your learning style is very clear and concise. Keep up the good work and more Davinci editing tutorials would be greatly appreciated. I’ve also subscribed.
This was a really helpful video! Much appreciation for the explanation, detail, and simplicity!
I’m glad it could help you out!
Youre a Legend! Very Simple and Easy to understand with your Tutorial
I am a newbie and this tutorial was of great help. Thank you very much!
Excellent. You covered everything I wanted to know to get me started.
Superb tutorial, thanks.
I REALLY appreciate the timestamps, thank you :)
Great tutorial video. Please keep the training on the video editing from the Davinci Resolve because it is the best free editing program availble for public use. I plan to use the program for my future videos. Thanks for your hard work in making the training videos.
Awesome tutorial! I am currently starting out with DaVinchi and this helped me a lot. Thank you!
Very helpful for me as I learn the possibilities of DaVinci Resolve 16
This is a wonderful tutorial. Very well organized - great information: clearly presented. THANKS!
As a beginner to editing software, this was a simple yet highly informative video. It explains clearly the basics of how one could jump in and use the tools which provides results quickly. This gets you excited and makes you want to learn more to build more advanced skills. Most beginner videos focus far to much on explaining the interface and a myriad of complex possible functions, we may never want to use. the best, clearest tutorial i have watched. i would love to have advice on setting preferences
Loved it! Very clear, detailed, complete and beautifully presented! I briefly looked at other similar tutorials and this one is way superior! Thank you sir! You are excellent!
Great content -thank you sir.

Thank you so much for this wonderful tutorial!!!
This was a great start for me...thank you
Thank you so much! Totally using this software for my YT channel!
FANTASTIC tutorial - thank you so much for sharing your expertise!!
i was waiting for this,thank u sir, luv u
Thank you for this tutorial. Hopefully it will help to alter my little movie (especially transitions and audio).
Wow, very helpful and clear tutorial, thx for this. 👌
So incredibly helpful! Thank you so much :)
If you noticed you had no "Timeline View Options" button and have recently downloaded Resolve, it's moved to the far left above the Video/Audion column. In its place are zoom options.
Wow...!!!!!
Thankyou Bro
Can you please make tutorial about colouring like skin smoot?
If you want to delete clip in timeline, it's better and safer to use 'backspace' instead of 'delete'
Hello! I love your videos they help me everyday. I hope to see the channel grow beyond millions! I’m not sure if I’m the only one that can tell how much hard work and effort you put into your videos but it’s extremely appreciated
Thank you, your support means a lot!
Amazing, Thank you Jamie. This is the best video I have seen on DaVinci Resolve. I was finding challenges in editing the video but now after seeing your video, I feel confident and will do it more effectively. Best part was the way you explained. Loved it.
Thank you so much! your are great! Great Tutorial for a fresh like myself! keep it coming.
heck of a "quick walk-thru" I learned alot. I'm from malaysia and really tq so much.. its simple and very clear you teach me...
i hope u create more advance idea on da vinci on next video..
well presented video at beginners speed, when my wife has got over the shock of the money spent on my P.C I think the full version will be "required"
This guide was so helpful. Just started trying to record videos and had no idea how to edit.
