He knew a few blokes who needed aluminium for the piggeries being set up in Vic at the time
So he rings up these blokes on the job site, they came out with a big crew, and collected all the aluminium and paid my old man, at the end of the day the boss rocked up and paid my old man
Thats called doing nothing and getting paid twice by using your brain and trade sense

I love at 1:15 how Morty silently says WTF to Gene when Jimmy says the favour is for a friend, and Gene is like, it's cool dont worry.
Two things in that little moment; Morty doing his job as X's minder but also we see that he and Gene have a relationship outside of their respective employers.
Great writing. Show, dont tell.
