I just discovered your channel today! I started nature journaling back in the early 90’s when my family and I went to Colorado on vacation. I’d sketch wildflowers and mountains and aspens and add a bit of watercolor to make the drawings interesting. Later, I’d look up info on my subjects in field guides. That sparked an interest in horticulture and in the late 90’s I went back to school and got an associates degree in horticulture. I ended up working in landscaping for 25 years ... and it all started with nature journaling! I’m now retired and living in Wyoming and have gotten all my art supplies “out of mothballs” and am ready to start up journaling again. I so appreciate finding your introduction class today. Just the spark I needed!
Last week as I drove to another town a bird flew by as I entered the highway, it caught my eye as it had a red cap and was the size of our bird jay here in the UK. I couldn't work out what it was too this video... It was a woodpecker... Thank you for inspiring me to journal that now.
This is great! I was at the Effie Yeaw Nature Center in Sacramento California when I met a woman with her children...I ask them what they were up to... they said they were nature journaling and they suggested I check out your videos! I'm so glad I did! I already have everything I need... and I'm going to make some time today for nature journaling! Thank u for the inspiring information!!
Wow! This lecture was so inspiring and informative! This work by John Muir Laws is a form of activism! His books have been on my radar for years but it was only when my biologist cousin recommended his journaling book that I decided to look into his work in earnest. I am glad that this video was my introduction. Not only is there a bunch of concrete information about how and why* to nature journal but this serves as a solid foundation for those who seek to encourage others to journal and get more into the outdoors. Simply fantastic!
John, thank you so much. I have always wanted to do nature journaling with my kids, but have always been intimidated. We actually did it today altogether and we all had fun. And my drawing was better and easier than I thought. Thank you so so much.
Thank you so much John for this very very very inspiring video! I didn't know anything about nature journaling , I like sketching and I took some courses about sketchbook but your video is a revelation to me. I want to take your challenge and start a nature journaling. I just bought your book 'Nature drawing and Journaling' and through this book I got to know you (sorry I didn't know you until I found your book by surfing the net). I am very happy about that and I consider your lesson a starting point for me. Thank you very much for this gift, I feel grateful. I have learned so much not only about an introduction of nature journaling but especially about motivation. Looking forward to watching also other videos by you.
Love, love, love this video! We are nature journaling as a part of a Charlotte Mason homeschool and this really clears up some of the gaps for me. I'm so excited to get back out with my nature journal!
I love your video, but I keep hearing people talking over you, and it is very hard for me to filter that out. Is there any way you can ask people to be considerate while you are talking, to refrain from talking while you are talking?

Thank you for your beautiful videos!
The best way to get over first page scare is to do a title page or test all your supplies !!
