AMAZING video! I can't tell you how much I learned with this! The most important for me is that not everything I draw or paint has to be a masterpiece. Art is a never ending learning process.
I've learned so much. John explained things so plainly, I am surprised I didn't notice these things before. But now that I am aware of them, I felt more prepared. I can't wait to try and integrate these valuable information on my next drawings. Thank you very much :)
this video is so helpful. Thanks for making these available. I cannot wait to put all this knowledge to use. 16 drawings this next month coming right up.
Doesn't matter when you find this- 7 years ago or yesterday. All really relevant tips especially for just getting that practice in- the blue pencils help with releasing some of us from getting bogged down with perfectionism.
What kind or colored pencils you use to sketch? Do you recommend sketch club in LA area? I wish I was living in north so I could go to your nature journaling club. Thanks for the awesome tutorial
That elk is pretty chubby. I always thought they were thinner. we don't have them here in ny. once in a while we get a moose or 3 near the canadian border though.
Thank you so much John for this extraordinary lesson, I'm learning a lot especially about negative shapes and values. And, above all, thank you and Ashok for sharing all of this with us and making this workshop accessible to everyone. I'm very grateful !
Yet another excellent talk from John Muir Laws. I am learning loads and it's already made a big difference.

2B or not to be, so to say. (sorry I had to)
The sound is echoing - it's as though Jack's voice is vibrating. Is it the recording or my computer?
These videos are great but the constant focus and light to dark is unnecessary. If we can see the screen and hear him its fine.
thanks thanks thanks
