      Hi Mike, thanks for the recommendation. I'll definitely mention sizes in future videos. For 95% of my Sitka Gear, I rock an XL and it fits really well. For the pants, I go between a 36 waist and a 38 depending on if I plan to layer under the piece or not. For example, for my early season pants, I wear a 36 because I want a regular fit. For my equinox pants, I wear a 38 so I can layer under them later in the season. The belts that come with them are awesome and really minimal.

      @NextStepOutdoors  4 года назад

      I wear XL for everything. I’d say for you probably XLT or XXLT. If you go to their site it shows the inseam and waist measurements per each size and you can make the final call. They are good about exchanges if a size is wrong. Otherwise I’d probably go to a store that sells Sitka, try XL and XXL (probably won’t have talls) and then just order the tall version of whatever one fits better.

      NashBuckingham I’m 6’4” 215lb and I wear XL jackets and pants. I tried the XLT versions and decided the normal sizes fit just right. They are all cut to be a certain point in the layering system so the heavier coats are cut to be able to wear additional layers underneath etc. you don’t need to jump to a XXL so you can wear something under it. I would just order what your true size is. They are really good about exchanges if you need.

    I am in MI too. Can I get away with the Equinox pants for the start of season in October, or will it be too warm? I have the Stratus, but I want to bridge the gap for the start of season and have money for one item to bridge. Either the ESW pants or Equinox. Your thoughts.

    How durable is the Celsius midi? I want to get it but I’m worried it won’t last long. I’m looking at it and the Equinox Hoody. I have the Fanatic jacket and bibs, plus the Fanatic hoody. I’ll be getting the Stratus jacket and bibs this off-season.

    • @NextStepOutdoors
      @NextStepOutdoors  4 года назад +1

      It holds up well. I love it as an outer layer and then as it gets cooler I'll use it under my Fanatics. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of the Stratus bibs. I had both the stratus bibs and coat and sold the bibs. My legs don't seem to get nearly as cold so I just wear my equinox pants with as many layers under as I need and then I'll layer the Stratus jacket over the midi. If it is too cold for that, I bust out the fanatics.

    Aaron do have have any thoughts on the fanatic vest over the stratus jacket with the fanatic hoody and Celsius midi underneath? Is that sufficient for an all day late season North Dakota sit?

    • @NextStepOutdoors
      @NextStepOutdoors  4 года назад +1

      That would probably work. Before I got the fanatic jacket/bibs, I ran the fanatic hoody, midi jacket, stratus jacket + another insulating brand from another layer and made it through late season in Michigan. I've never been to ND though so can't speak specifically to that. The one thing I will say is it is a pain wearing that many layers. The fanatic jacket is awesome.

    I live in southeast Oklahoma and in the winters temps get down into teens but mostly stay in the 20's and 30's. Do you think the Fanatic light jacket and bibs would work if I layered the heavyweight merino tops and bottoms and the fanatic hoody underneath. I mostly tree stand hunt.

    • @NextStepOutdoors
      @NextStepOutdoors  4 года назад +1

      I don't feel confident to give you a definite answer because I've never used the Fanatic light set. I wore the Stratus set with appropriate layering underneath into similar temps before I got the Fanatic Jacket and bibs. The Stratus set has windstopper in it tho so cuts the wind a bit better than the fanatic lights.

    • @NextStepOutdoors

      I went a whole season in Northern Michigan only layering under the stratus set up. It will get you through the season but you really need to layer smart, where as with the Fanatics I feel a lot more mobile because I only need a few layers underneath.

  • @robertmertz4831

    Love the review. I'm in the market to start buying higher end camo. I was looking into Sitka, Firt Lite, or Scent Blocker. All of wich is for treestand hunting im Pa. I want to find the patter that hides me the best as long as I do my part in staying still. Why do the shades in the ESW gear you have on change from pice to piece? Really like the Sitka functionality. If you could give me any help I'd greatly appreciate it.

      The fanatic hoodie and the stratus jacket is where I notice the most variation in color compared to the other pieces. I think it has to do with the materials the pattern is printed on. People have been killing big bucks in flannel coats for ages so I'm not going to sit here and say you need Sitka or any of these other company's patterns in order to stay hidden but I very rarely get spotted in a tree wearing my optifade. The most notable thing is the functionality and fit of the different pieces in the Sitka line up.

      @@NextStepOutdoors I REALLY appreciate your honest advice. The functionality is prob the most important id say. Very true about the camo vs pladd . Just trying to see what would work the best for me. But I'm leaning towards Sitka for the extras.

      Andy Brooks it varies by item from the standpoint that some pieces are designed to be able to layer underneath. I’m 6’4” 220lb and wear XL in everything which is true to my size for other brands.

      It's definitely expensive. It has taken me a few years to build up my system and I don't plan to add anything for quite a long time. You get what you pay for though. Some people prefer to get their camo from the Walmart clearance rack and some people prefer to have premium materials that were designed with a lot of thought to maximize performance.

      @@metal_mo The midi jacket is my favorite outer layer to hunt with. I lost one last year after leaving it in the woods tracking a deer on public...I cringed a little but bought a new one before this season. I'll make sure I never make that mistake again.
