Yes, we respect our Chatrapati Shivaji maharaj very deeply. It's because of him we are still proud to be Hindu Indians. He made maharashtra look like phynix which was dead after Krushn Dev raya of Devgiri fell to Khilji at the end of 12th century. I have litarally found nothing (other than bhakti movement and varkari literature) to read about maharashtra in those years of islamic occupation. As if nothing happened for 400 years till Shivaji maharaj was born. That 400 years were hell for economy, culture and art. People just suffered life. Then maharaj came and re-established Dharmrajya.

As a history geek I've never been more fascinated with any other culture or tradition similar to that of Hinduism, there is an answer for everything from Black holes to training Mind to Sex to Runing an empire/monarch to living like God on earth, thank you to those ancient sages, warrirors, seers, doers, seekers and writers who left us knowledge of this magnitude to appreciate in the 21st century and the funny thing is thousands of years later it will be still relevant to those minds who are ready to absorb it

It is important to read about Chhatrapati Shiwaji Maharaj in details.. His ideologies, vision are very relevant in modern and future times also. I am a Maharashtrian and since childhood we have been taught about Shivray's history in detail in school, have read other books on him, some marathi movies on shivray are also good all people (regardless any religion,caste,nation) should surely read about him in detail which would truly guide them in life both professional and personal and have a vision in life 🙏🙏 Jay Shivray🙏🙏

I am a Kannadiga from Karnataka and was always in awe of Shivaji Maharaj. I actually did a month trip to Pune and went around his forts to feel humbled to walk on the same soil where Shivaji Maharaj walked. At those times what he did saved our culture. @Hk Ps nope nothing like the current Westminster system. Imperial means no Democrazy, so what he meant is at the centre there will be an all powerful emperor and elections will be held only at local levels much smaller than states.

Secondly , Old lady says Shivneri Fort is in Nashik but it's in Pune 🤣And In Shivaji Raje's Empire , There were majority of maratha caste warriors so other caste warriors were also named as Maratha....

The first time I came to know about Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was when I asked my mom who's this bearded guy and why is he so revered. Her reply gave me goosebumps, she said, "he's the reason Hindus survive today".
You mother is far more more intelligent than most of today's 95% population. She is 100% right today our religion is still alive because of Shivaji Maharaj because he was the avtar of Shiv who always comes on earth to protect dharma from adharmi evil creatures.

You can say that in a sense. Chhatrapati Maharaja Shivaji, Ramakrishna Paramhansa, Swami Vivekananda are the Avataric Purushas of medieval and recent India history. Even Dhanaji Jadhav and Santaji Ghorpadey were great warriors due to tales of their exploits in battlefield in their campaigns against Mughal army in the Maratha-Mughal war that lasted for 27 years.

I don't know how can she write the book on shivray if she don't know where the shivneri actually is....and also the swarajya (kingdom of own) is the dream and vision of rajmata Jijau who herself the daughter of Lakhujiraje Jadhav( yadav),who are descendent of yadava of devgiri later called daulatabad....but as the Lakhujiraje and his sons ( jijau's father and brothers)were betrayed and killed by Nizamshaha also her younger son Sambhaji was betrayed by Afjal khan hence Jijau become inconviced to Shahaji Raje to work under these invaders and convinced shahaji Raje to establish swarajya ,though shahaji Raje tried many times but remained unsuccessful due to many reasons ..and also it was Jijau who cultivated the land in Pune by golden plough...sorry but I was stopped watching when she totally underestimated Rajmata Jijau who is real kingmaker....

Shivaji Maharaj's father had defeated huge mughal force using river flow strategy and became famous and then he had also tried revolt to form his own kingdom that was the main reason he was moved to down south - bagalore . So shivaji maharaj had inspiration from his father himself.
Everyone is shocked about how intelligent shivaji was at that time but my perspective is that - It's so similar to ramanujan and his intelligence . Because if you know chatrapati shivaji maharaj was a great devotee of goddess parashakti and his devotion was so pure that in every victory or loss he dedicated it to Devi, he used to sing glories of her and same is with ramanujan he himself said that my goddess bleeds mathematics , people from the world have tested him and everyone were blown of with his answers and techniques to solve the maths problem were considered extraordinary . Now people will say you are religious that's why you are saying this . But i have a big no to you bcs being religious is other thing and experiencing her Grace is another . I think rich 90 percent are not like that.. maybe this specific lady and few others..As a OBC myself felt bad as no mention of OBC sc st credit during shivrai era..this could be reason few places sc/st voted for Aimim(Assad owaisi) as there is no credit given in recent time in politics.... After the podcast, I actually went and bought Challenging History and listening to the audio book. Going through the pains of our ancestors and the coming to age story of Shivaji Maharaj is giving me goosebumps. Thank you for introducing Medha madam to us.
As a middle aged Maharashtrian, I knew many points mentioned by Medha Madam. But the way she linked all the points to make a complete picture was really an enriching experience. I am going to read Marathi translation of her book. The Host did a tremendous job by studying the subject before the interview and asking pertinent questions at appropriate time. Kudos to both of you..
She started with saying that all books show mughals in positive light but all she told about shivaji is only positives. there are also many wrong things he has done which are conveniently forgotten

History needed to be told and listened with some heart as well, when it is to put as some source of inspiration for the coming generations for their good. I feel proud that my ancestors fought with Shivrai in the fight battle of Purandar. Which is located in Saswad, Pune. Saswad is village of Jagtap family. Means most of the families surname is Jagtap. And Sardar Godajiraje Jagtap was Shivrai childhood friend.
Really nice episode on greatest King in India. Ma'am is having a great knowledge. But I would like to highlight one thing that is missing in this episode. @Ranveer, Ma'am and you had very short discussion about Shivaji Maharaj's battles. Like killing Afzal kahn(which is very famous battle in the world), story of Siddhi Jauhar vedha and escape from the same, story of pavan khind, story of Surat lut. And later the great story escape from Agra. We should have a separate episodes on highlighting these great things. Because those were the real war techniques of Shivrai...
Sorry to say this but the info about Malik Amber is incomplete. He was dead when shahaji raje took over and there lots of politics over there that you guys unfortunately missed. Shahaji raje left nijamshahi 2 times. You should have mentioned that
JijaBai was of great influence on ShivBa when he was a child as she instilled the sense of pride and the spirit to fight for Swaraj in him. Later on in life Ramdas helped ShivRai understand Maharashtra Dharma.

One of the best talks on ShivRai... Not many historians or people discuss his Business acumen. We only heard of ShivRai as a great leader and warrior without the context, but his other skills which also included forecasting and economy building were mind blowing too. Like Mam mentioned, his ideas were like "E = mc square"... which I believe was a God given gift and hence, he was not just an ordinary person or name fame, but a God sent human to change the geopolitics in his time. Hats off to ShivRai and all the people of his time to free us from treacherous rulers like Mughals and Shahis.. Without ShivRai, we still would be ruled by thoughts of slavery and hence we bow down to this great human... This channel is watched by national and international viewers. Hence, I feel the reach for such discussion is going to be huge rather than just local discussions. On another point of skiping some points, one cannot discuss all of Shivrai in one podcast show. Here the author is just giving us an overview of Shivrai's values and his backdrop on why it is imp to know more about him. She has written whole book on it and dont think any writer will give away all in one show. So better to respect her rather than pointing shortcomings. Ma'am, said people in North-East were premitive hence Mughal din't expand there. But, it's not the case. Total 17 times mughal were deafted by Ahom kings of Assam. Ahom chieftain, Lachit Barphukan kept Mughals away from NorthEast by winning battle of saraighat in 1671. The era she is talking is also the same. Jai Hind, Jai Maharashtra.

Yes, we respect our Chatrapati Shivaji maharaj very deeply. It's because of him we are still proud to be Hindu Indians. He made maharashtra look like phynix which was dead after Krushn Dev raya of Devgiri fell to Khilji at the end of 12th century. I have litarally found nothing (other than bhakti movement and varkari literature) to read about maharashtra in those years of islamic occupation. As if nothing happened for 400 years till Shivaji maharaj was born. That 400 years were hell for economy, culture and art. People just suffered life. Then maharaj came and re-established Dharmrajya.

As a history geek I've never been more fascinated with any other culture or tradition similar to that of Hinduism, there is an answer for everything from Black holes to training Mind to Sex to Runing an empire/monarch to living like God on earth, thank you to those ancient sages, warrirors, seers, doers, seekers and writers who left us knowledge of this magnitude to appreciate in the 21st century and the funny thing is thousands of years later it will be still relevant to those minds who are ready to absorb it

After the podcast, I actually went and bought Challenging History and listening to the audio book. Going through the pains of our ancestors and the coming to age story of Shivaji Maharaj is giving me goosebumps. Thank you for introducing Medha madam to us.
As a middle aged Maharashtrian, I knew many points mentioned by Medha Madam. But the way she linked all the points to make a complete picture was really an enriching experience.
I am going to read Marathi translation of her book.
The Host did a tremendous job by studying the subject before the interview and asking pertinent questions at appropriate time.

There are many mistakes in this Podcast...Maratha is a kshatriya Caste since ancient eras not language and many Maratha Empires existed even before Shivaji Maharaj... Secondly , Old lady says Shivneri Fort is in Nashik but it's in Pune 🤣And In Shivaji Raje's Empire , There were majority of maratha caste warriors so other caste warriors were also named as Maratha....

I feel proud that my ancestors fought with Shivrai in the fight battle of Purandar. Which is located in Saswad, Pune. Saswad is village of Jagtap family. Means most of the families surname is Jagtap. And Sardar Godajiraje Jagtap was Shivrai childhood friend.

But I would like to highlight one thing that is missing in this episode. @Ranveer, Ma'am and you had very short discussion about Shivaji Maharaj's battles. Like killing Afzal kahn(which is very famous battle in the world), story of Siddhi Jauhar vedha and escape from the same, story of pavan khind, story of Surat lut. And later the great story escape from Agra. We should have a separate episodes on highlighting these great things. Because those were the real war techniques of Shivrai...

One of the best talks on ShivRai... Not many historians or people discuss his Business acumen. We only heard of ShivRai as a great leader and warrior without the context, but his other skills which also included forecasting and economy building were mind blowing too. Like Mam mentioned, his ideas were like "E = mc square"... which I believe was a God given gift and hence, he was not just an ordinary person or name fame, but a God sent human to change the geopolitics in his time. Hats off to ShivRai and all the people of his time to free us from treacherous rulers like Mughals and Shahis.. Without ShivRai, we still would be ruled by thoughts of slavery and hence we bow down to this great human... Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj!

This channel is watched by national and international viewers. Hence, I feel the reach for such discussion is going to be huge rather than just local discussions. On another point of skiping some points, one cannot discuss all of Shivrai in one podcast show. Here the author is just giving us an overview of Shivrai's values and his backdrop on why it is imp to know more about him. She has written whole book on it and dont think any writer will give away all in one show. So better to respect her rather than pointing shortcomings. I understand there is more than what is discussed, but its a star at International level...
