I’m going with an LS for my Roadster build. I found a local shop that’s building my engine. It’s an all aluminum 5.3L with FiTech intake. It’ll have about 480 hp and it’s a complete turnkey motor for $8800. Good luck with your build.

Wow! Thank you for sharing this video. You are really doing your homework and this was really helpful! Pls keep sharing, watching your full line of vids now!! I would love to do an LS rebuild myself, just trying to workout the nay-sayers and “oh you can’t do that” out of my head. I’m somewhat nervous to get started. Your videos are great and proves to be encouragement for me to get started! Thanks again , John

If you have a good shop behind you and you are not doing an extreme racing build, you can pull it off on your own with a few skills. Thanks,

Just for the record, both Coyote and LS are 90° V8's. If you put the two bare blocks next to each other, they're not that different. That's not the reason for their size difference. The Coyote is larger due to the double overhead cam valve train, 4 valves per cylinder, cam phasers required for the variable cams, etc. All resulting in much higher and wider heads and bulk. Agree a Coyote is a tight fit in the hot rod.

LS engine 24.75" wide and Coyote 29.05". Friend of mine put a Coyote in a 33 and it is stuffed.

@@StreetRodJim Agreed. The Coyote is wider than the LS. You said in the video the reason the LS was narrower was because it was a 90° V8. I was only pointing out that both are 90° V8's. The difference is the heads. I've done two Factory Five builds with Coyotes, so know them pretty well. A Roadster and a Coupe.

    Am I right?:
    1. The 5.3 and 6.2 are the same block. The 6.2 has thinner walls due to being bored out.
    2. A 5.3 aluminum could still be intelligently boosted safely with out having to reinforce the cylinders.
    3. A 5.3 iron block can get a little ridiculous on boost without having to get expensive for reinforcement and weight savings.
    4. Just brainstorming on my end...

Sounds like you are headed in the right direction. Regarding weight savings, the 5.3 might be heavier than a 6.2L.

kinda curious why not go with a Windsor 351 rebuild thats done for you for about 5k? im following along as im very seriously thinking of getting a 33 myself. Also why didn't you spring for the complete kit? wouldn't it of been cheaper or was there another factor im missing?

I did get a complete kit. If I talked about getting a stage one it was for monetary reasons. I was looking for a modern engine.

gave it a thumbs up but booo!. LOL you missed the chance to add some asymmetrical hood shapes to your hotrod

Why buy an engine that's been used & you are in the dark on ECU, harness, etc.? New for a few bucks more seems to make the most sense unless you are truly strapped.....

Can be $5K+ just for the motor (compared to rebuild) , then you have to add parts to make it the way you want to look. It can get costly.

Friend of mine just put in a stock LS and is breaking tires in 3rd gear at 80mph. If you think this is boring.... well....
