I've watched this video six times already! I really like that you repeat words and also break down the sounds. It helps SO much. Plus I love your sense of humor :)

This is wonderful! I asked a Nepali friend to clarify what you meant about "thank you" and why it's not common in Nepal; she explained that generosity and gratitude are just GIVENS in Nepal, and to actually *say* "thank you" is generally sarcastic and what USians would consider a back-handed compliment. I'm glad you mentioned it, since in the US it's considered rude NOT to say "thank you" and I would have accidentally insulted my friend!

I have been thinking the same. Have stayed in Uttarakhand and you will be suprised that a majority of them have surnames as Joshi, Punetha, etc. and several of KoBra descendants. It has been said that the core Marathi group came from Aryan ( German ) descendants. and these later migrated to the plains and coastals. Whatever it is, you will find it amazing. Infact if you listen carefully to Kumaoni, Nepali, Gharwali, you will find a mix of Gujarati and Marathi and Maithili.
