Wrong again pal, they did it live in Sheffield in 2018
@@JoshuaGrunge2000 Wrong "again", my friend: half a verse with a boombox never counted. "First time in the studio version since 2007", just read.
@@strangedaysindeed9 I didn’t say studio although no live version is exactly the same as the studio version of any songs, however there’s videos of them doing mardy bum in 2018 in both Sheffield and Italy, think you might want to apologise
@@JoshuaGrunge2000 None needed, all info you need to know is in the pinned comment you are replying to and description. Again, a beatbox version or lacklustre a capella impromptu version never counted, nor could I have ever fit in a whole disclaimer in the title. The first time Mardy Bum was performed in the studio version since 2007 is seen on this video.
There's indeed videos of the song in a many different non-electric arrangements since that time, because I did those videos, so please refer to the many different arrangements of the song in 2011, 2013 and 2018: www.youtube.com/@strangedaysindeed9/search?query=mardy%20bum The studio version arrangement you won't find anywhere in between Kansas City 2007 and Bristol 2023.
Give the guy who made the set list a raise.
The band…?
@@tzing2589 what? I never knew that, I never knew that.
@@malp4179 no offense, but think about it. Why would anyone but a member/ the entire band pick the set? Theyre not pop stars you know
@@tzing2589pretty sure what he said was a joke and he was implying that the Monkeys need a raise
@@nacht2377 Maybe, but it doesnt really read like that to me
Bring back A Certain Romance and When the Sun Goes Down and this setlist would be perfection
Maybe for Glastonbury…
only gone and done it
When the sun goes down.. AROUND 'ERE
And From the Ritz to the rubble
How special of a moment this must've been, Mardy Bum for the first time live in a decade, first full band performance since 2007, to kick off their UK Stadium tour. I'd have utterly lost my shit if I was in that crowd, last song I'd ever have expected them to play given how hesitant they've been to play their older classics in recent years.
@@syliakarar8208well no he's been dating Louise for about five years and he still plays other love songs that were written literally ABOUT Alexa. Mardy bum isn't about her so it probs doesn't remind him of her as much as something like I wanna be yours. Also they played this in 2014 at glasto which was after they'd broken up anyway
@@syliakarar8208Mardy bum isn't about Alexa and they literally broke up a decade ago, I'm sure they both mora than over that
I dunno, I probably wouldn't have been able to actually hear Alex singing it since the tone deaf dimwits of the audience decided it was more important I could hear them give it a go
@@syliakarar8208 You think songwriters get over their ex''''''''''s? It's all just fodder. Ask Miss Swift, or the lovely Adele.
We were there. We lost our shit.
The original arrangement with Alex's aged voice is a match made in heaven.
Yes, it's definitely aged a couple of months at the very least.
Nothing ever beats seeing Arctic Monkeys in the UK, the crowd just gets it
Just watched Glasto performance from start and was pure drudgery with underwhelmed crowd.
Too slow. Same as Glastonbury today.
@@ponyboycurtis9345yeah there is actually a lot of articles online about how bad it was
@davidtatey they played it slow at Glastonbury 2013 and no one complained
@@Fitchy-ke3wz well they are now
The way that everyones singing along makes it so much better honestly

The man, the myth, the legend, the arctic monkeys expert never disappoints
Always disappointed with Alex Turner. The man is pretentious shell of his previous self. Complete melt
What a monent. Not even one of my favourites but to hear it in full as a SET OPENER after all this time is such a nice surprise.
I am fucking waiting The jeweler's hand!
What a cute moment when all the people start mimicking the instrumental part of the song at the beginning 2:05 😭😭😭😭 so cute ❤
I guess attending an AM concert in the UK is a whole different experience from anywhere else in the world. The crowd is just on fire
that's cause you haven't seen the latin america crouds
@@mskarchiveslol no it's because British crowds get AM better than anyone else
@@mskarchivesYep. Here in Latin America we scream every single song, and the energy is just beautiful.

Such a delightful surprise after all these years without this song live in this way. Mardy Bum is so unique. The crowd was awesomeee. Thanks again for sharing!!!
Man this video is everything that's right in the world:
Monkeys opening with Mardy Bum is HISTORICAL.
The fact that they're going back to the origins.
You being able to film all the thing without fainting or getting loud & crazy (that I would have done 😅)
The fact that they're going back to the origins.
FUCK YES
It's a bit shaky for a reason ;)
This is the song that got me into Arctic monkeys in the first place and it has always been my favourite I was dead certain they weren’t gonna play it and it was the most amazing feeling when they did
sometimes i just wanna cry bc this song lives too deep in my heart... i wish i was the only person on earth that listened to it 😭😭😭😭😭
Seeing this live actually brought tears to my eyes😭
Thank you!

This is my fav song of them. My sisterintroduce me this amazing band.
This song feels like when it was written it was a youth feeling like a relationship was figured out when it wasn't to now where it feels like a relationshio that is figured out thinking that it is trying to keep things right.
I love how brits always sing the guitar riffs like they´re football hymns
I went in 2 concerts in South America, I’m happy about new songs like suck it/Mardy/adolescent but sad cause they didn’t play them here

its cos its a UK tour, they kind of hadf to bring flor ad and mardy bum back
I was there!! Tee hee
the best song from the first album.
Well, now then, mardy bum
I've seen your frown and it's like
Looking down the barrel of a gun
And it goes off
And out come all these words
Oh, there's a very pleasant side to you
A side I much prefer
It's one that laughs and jokes around
Remember cuddles in the kitchen
Yeah, to get things off the ground
And it was up, up and away
Oh, but it's right hard to remember
That on a day like today
When you're all argumentative
And you've got the face on
Well, now then, mardy bum
Oh, I'm in trouble again
Aren't I?
I thought as much
'Cause you turned over there
Pulling that silent disappointment face
The one that I can't bear
Can we just laugh and joke around?
Remember cuddles in the kitchen
Yeah, to get things off the ground
And it was up, up and away
Oh, but it's right hard to remember
That on a day like today
When you're all argumentative
And you've got the face on
And, yeah, I'm sorry I was late
But I missed the train
And then the traffic was a state
But I can't be arsed to carry on in this debate
That reoccurs, oh, when you say I don't care
But of course I do, yeah, I clearly do
So laugh and joke around
Remember cuddles in the kitchen
Yeah, to get things off the ground
And it was up, up and away
Oh, but it's right hard to remember
That on a day like today
When you're all argumentative
And you've got the face on

im seeing them in sheff on the 9th june and i cant help feeling that they will bring back one or two other classics for the show as well. what are we thinking? im hoping when the sun goes down will be added
Not sure. After Don Valley Bowl in 2011, which was a specific one-off homecoming event half a year before the tour, they've always considered the Sheffield stops as regular gigs with no setlist changes in comparison to the other shows during the UK tour.
@@strangedaysindeed9 was either 2018 or 19 cant remember but was def after they had stopped performing “older” songs and in sheff they did bit of a short stripped down version of a certain romance plus this UK tour with them bringing back a few i feel like there’s still a possibility for something a bit different at the sheff gig. id be happy with anything tho, possibly less of the newer albulms but that’s just me and what i prefer. 😭
@@carris8432 You're in for a treat because they only play 4 songs from the last decade at all, rest is from the first 7 years of their studio career...
You must have been ecstatic when they opened with a certain romance mate 😅
song aged like wine, so does Alex's voice
they played it in 2013 in glastonbury with the string quartet after cornerstone

Someday i'll dedicate this song to my true love. :'))
A song about having arguments? 😛
