Please know that I come not as a critic, but as someone who has questions. I am a 60 year old recovering alcoholic and bar band refugee. The process of recovery landed me in a church where I came to know Christ as my Savior and my Deliverer. I enjoy Disturbed, and I truly believe that David Draiman's heart is genuine. I have seen him shed tears for the hurting and I believe that his desire to see people set free from the bonds of addiction and mental illness come from a very real place. But in all of this, where is Jesus? I hear lots of talk about God, about Elisha, about John the Baptist, but they were all pointing the way to Jesus the Christ. If we're seeing people set free from the chains of addiction and mental illness, chains which I have worn myself, yet we do not lead them to the source of true freedom from sin (See John 8:36), aren't we doing them a tremendous disservice? Can we claim to lead them to God, and yet leave Jesus out of the equation? (See John 14:6) Again, I don't claim to be an authority; I'm searching for answers too.

That's exactly why you don't trust this guy here and David Draiman. This youtube guy and David are falsely decieved they think they're on a crusade of justice and doing things right but a man can think of many things as right but in the end it leads to death if you remember that verse in the bible.

You are asking the right questions. What I have seen from this clip of the singer and what he had to say comes from a place of vanity. Not all vanity slaps you in the face. sin and Satan come on subtle and in the guise of compassion and what is truly right. he finds the cracks and finds the weaknes and takes the good and slowly twists it. you don't see it hitting you until you are already hit. the vanity and condensation in what and how he says while attempting a moral high ground it's not God or Jesus or John the Baptist kind of moment. this is a learning moment but one in which what we should learn is that it is God and Jesus and the Holy Spirit that lead us to freedom and light. If he wanted to make a point and moment he should have spoke about salvation and coming to christ and said a prayer for the church and its members and the people of the show. It would have been a much more powerful statement to be humble and surrender it to God.

He is Jewish but you are seeing the same thing I’ve seen for a while. The hope is that people like David find themselves knowing Jesus and it has been happening. I listen to less music than I used to but a few metal still make the cut because of the positive messages they sing.

I agree with you, but... on a personal note...
Last Summer, I saw this band perform, and David Draiman stopped his show to share his personal struggles, and had moments of silence for people to remember those lost to addiction or suicide, and how he'd almost joined them in the recent past, and how he fights for himself to be there for his son and to lead people from darkness to light. It was so powerful, and I could feel the presence of God in that concert last year, even though not in a church or worship service. I was crying and just being there in the moment, knowing God was working in the midst of many non-believers or former believers or people like me who also enjoy Disturbed and are Born-Again Christians. I do not agree with everything David supports or all the lyrics or messages, but I can see that God has given David and his band a voice in the darkness, in the wilderness.

I want to add something else. My father is a retired pastor (he and my mother are the kind of Christians who would likely embrace what you’re saying here). One Sunday he had my brother playing the piano and he very last minute whispered to him to play something prayerful during a quiet time of reflection. My brother kind of freaked and played a beautiful song… from an attraction at Epcot. No one besides my brother and me knew what the song was. After church this one lady challenged my brother as to whether the song he played was anointed. My father asked her who she was to even decide what or whom God had anointed! She didn’t really have an answer and left in a huff. I love that he said that to her.

I’ve been a Christian AND a disturbed fan for a very long time. I have nothing against them at all. I find it odd when Christian’s call metal devil music. In my opinion, Metal is one of the deepest genres of music.

    • @StylesEste
      @StylesEste 7 месяцев назад +1

The reason why people call it "devil music", is because of the fringe stereotype from satanists (literal satanists, mind you.) Would use really disturbing tones, screams, and lyrics. So it became a "well that's all that it represents."
But the real reason why music is attacked so much, is because of the devil himself. If you remember your bible's ancient teachings, the apocrypha, and further studies.. You'll know that the official title and place of the 'devil', the Archangel Lucifer, was that he created *all* of the music in the heavens.
^So the devil hates all music that humans create, and takes great strides to "demonize" all music, and what easier genre to attack then one that had already attacked itself?
Hope that clears it up. ;P I'm a huge Sabaton and Powerwolf fan as well.

    • @agentooe33AD
      @agentooe33AD 5 месяцев назад +2

@@gypsy1m6 That is not accurate per se. We are allowed to judge the sins of others, because God gave us the tools in which to do so. Because it is, in fact, not us who is judging, God has already made the judgment. Christians pointing out your sins is part of the great commission Christ gave to us, to spread the gospel, in which all have sinned, and all are guilty, and it is only through repentance and baptism into Christ that we are saved (Mark 16:!6). What are not supposed to do, is think that we are above the sinner, because without Christ, we would also be condemned. People who don't read the bible get this wrong. If people do not feel the shame and guilt of their sins, they will not realize that they need Christ to forgive them.

I believe that God can use anyone or anything for His glory, and the ministry (not necessarily Christian ministry, but he is ministering to others, perhaps coming from his Jewish faith) he is doing is changing lives. So while the protest might not have been the best move, having that protest out there gave David a reason to talk about it and preach and make those connections that might not have been able to have been made at that concert without the situation. It is possible that something else could have come up as well too, but at the same time I think be thankful for the protest to have been going on so that David was able to speak and set those seeds in the hearts and minds of the concert goers.

God works in mysterious ways and I think any revival will come outside of the church because the church system has been an apostate Pharisee institution. There is more pagan tradition in them than true christianity. So no wonder why they have no good fruits. Jesus said we will know them by their fruits.

You're right as well as David! The #1 reason that people don't go to church is because of the hypocrisy and judgemental people that are churched. Jesus met people where they were and as Christ followers (Christians) we need to be doing the same. It's time to face what makes us uncomfortable and show the love and compassion that Christ had and called us to carry forth.

The church actually does more than other organization, government, or band right now for people. It's just not reported on since it's eclectic, and we live in a fallen world. While I am happy that they are helping people get free from their addiction, the physical is not as important as the spiritual. I hope these people find peace and freedom in Christ because until that happens they are not truly free. While I'm not a fan of the protesting church I'm also not a fan of fellow Christians criticizing Christians using cults like this as a tool.

That's where you're wrong. Faith without works is dead. If you see someone in need, and you say "May God bless you" and do nothing, you're useless. Jesus took care of the physical first before reaching to their spiritual. Same as God in the Old Testament, God took care of of Elijah physically first before God thinks it ready to reach Elijiah's spiritual. The physical is as important as one's spiritual.

Its good to see that even non-Christians like David are seeing right through the evil side of these extreme religious groups. Im doing what I am doing to show the community that most Christians aren't like Westboro, nor do we align with them in any way. My church has a motto. For us Christians Jesus was the promised Jewish Messiah but for Rabbinical Jews (which modern Jews descend from and follow) they say that no Jesus was a prophet (and those are the nice ones. Be bold like John in the wilderness. Music isn’t the problem. It’s the hypocrites. We need ministry like this. Thank you. David is speaking a message of truth. We need to stop being woke and WAKE UP. People are dying every single day without knowing how to be set free. Music is more powerful than any sermon could ever be. That’s my feeling, anyway.

Lyrics of their song "The Night" asks "asr you gonna deny the Savior, in front of your eyes"...
Very thought provoking that they're saying those kinds of lines. I became a fan 20+ years ago, been a Believer in Christ for 30+ years and a metal fan for 40+. Disturbed's songs always have me thinking about my faith and how I need to be separated from the world

i once went to a Baptist church on a regular without ever missing a service until i got sick one weekend and had to work out of town the next weekend so the church sent two people to come check on me and i just so happened to be drinking a beer while grilling when they showed up and im a firm believer in come as you are.. so i invited them to eat and they refused.. however at the following service i was asked to come into an office and told i could no longer be a member of the church as im living in sin.. i looked at the guy and said but dont we all sin?? as i walked out i told him respectfully i dont wanna come back to this church!!!

Jesus made water into wine but it’s wrong to enjoy a beer while you cook your food? Lol I was just thinking the other day that if Jesus came again, modern Christianity would reject him just like the Pharisees.

As if gods going to strike you down for having a beer. But if you were having a glass of wine I’m sure that would’ve been fine.

There are a lot of comments on this wonderful and insightful video, so if this is a repeat, I apologize. I was at that show, and around the time of this talk he gave "his people" (honestly, he used that phrase), they did their song "Reason To Fight." There is a line in that song that is so powerful: When you're aching for the fire and begging for your sin. When there's nothing left inside, there's still a reason to fight. As a believer, I have ached from that fire and begged for the sin of my flesh and I turn to my Heavenly Father to fight my battle for me. If these lyrics, his words, can spark interest in someone to start looking, reading researching, asking questions, then isn't that a good thing? Isn't he leading a heart to God?

In the last 6-7 months, ive been spearheading an unconventional ministry at my church called “the bridge.” Essentially I host monthly or 2 times a month local shows from musicians in the tri-state area. A lot of bands that seem to want to play are hardcore and metal bands, and tho a lot of the artist are almost the furthest thing from Christian as far as context, everyone is so nice and respectful and charitable and understanding of playing shows like this in a still active church. The only thing we have asked of them is to not intentionally slander the faith or the church, and to not have alcohol, and everything else is fair game.
The goal of it is to just open dialogues with both concert attendees and band members. The biggest question I get is always “how the hell did you get a space like this to host shows?” To which I explain that I’ve been going to said church my entire life and when I proposed to the governing board my idea they understood where I was coming from and gave me the liberty to go forth and do it. I’ve been a concert junkie most of my life, been playing drums in various bands for the latter part of 20 years, and just meeting people and hearing their stories and hearing how church has pushed away people who are seeking through their actions has broken my heart. Like it or not, Christians have a habit of ruining Jesus for people. So I’m trying my best to “bridge the gap” and show folks who are outside of the church or have been wounded by the church that we aren’t as judgmental, or, threatening or imposing as people who misrepresented Christ portrayed us to be.
It’s slow, but I’m seeing fruit from it. People who come to the shows tell me how safe and welcomed they feel and how much it stands in stark contrast to the typical bar show. And some even have told me that “this is the first time in a long time I’ve actually felt welcome in a church.”
We often forget that the whole gospel is about God meeting us where we are at, and that’s how the church should be treating the world, we should meet them where they are at and walk along side them as they enter the doors of a church either for the first time, or the first time in a long time.
If anyone is interested in following my endeavors, I’ve got an insta for it @thebridgebg

He didn't bring a "wake-up call to Christians", he was speaking out against Westboro Baptist, who does *not* represent the majority of Christians, even ones who agree with them about sexual issues. I am a very conservative Christian and I love Disturbed. They're one of my favorite modern rock/metal bands.

When i was from the world, i lovrd disturbed, i related to the music. But i have always been spiritually sensitive. After i had opened doors, i would use his music to enpower and actually envoke unclean demonic spirits.
They are attracted to his music. I truly believe God can use him. He uses me and i was in witchcraft practices as well as deep addiction and God uses me because i serve Him.
    Only Him.
I am a personal testimony of how powerful Deliverance is. Through and only through Jesus Christ...
Anything else, no matter how close is a DECEPTION...
I wasnt called to go to church to set people free, and probably neither was he. I was called to go to the darkest of dark places and help bring those living in darkness back to the light. But beware. The enemy will disguise himself as an angel of light, and deceive many.
Each and every one of us will have to account for the work that we've done while we were alive on this Earth period. And the false teachers who said they were the light that were actually darkness, which is what it talks about in the end of Matthew, it will call the light dark in the dark light how dark is that darkness really.
I believe that he can truly lead several generations to the light, if he becomes a true follower of Christ.
And I do believe in these last days, God will definitely use him.
Truth be told, he's living in deception and leading others to deception if he is pointing that there's any other way to the light and to Heaven that is not through Jesus Christ. And he must account for that, or repent I hope and pray he finds the truth.
Even if Dave's conversion is a week before his death, he's got so many followers, one testimony of such a conversion can change the destination of a lot of Souls.
So that's what I'm going to be praying for tonight...

We are not supposed to JUDGE, ONLY OUR CREATOR JUDGES. I have seen too many churches totally put down someone who may be going the wrong path. You are supposed to love that person, and with a caring HEART, bring the Creator to them. AS A CHRISTIAN, YOU ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO ACT BETTER THAN PEOPLE THAT HAVE NOT FOUND OUR CREATOR.
YOU ARE SUPPOSE TO LOVE THEM.

I've heard David talk in many interviews and he is very elegant and he obviously has a heart to help people who are hurtimg because he's been where they are so he understands the need for offering a helping hand. I dont really listen to much of their music because it really isnt my style anymore as I grew up in the 80s with metal bands and just kinda grew out of it. But that being said, I can appriciate that he is trying to use thier music to both entertain and to reach people where they are which is a beautiful thing. I hope and pray that his ministry will continue to be a blessing to him and his band as well as to those who hear their music because sometimes its the music we least expect that reaches those who are hurting the most.

The point is to grow with time, and part of the growth is to wrestle with these issues. Sometimes we have to meet folks where they are, whether you cuss to make a point, other times refraining from it to abide by some social conventions with others. God is patient in our growth.
