The closest thing I could find is the Beyer M55, a German dynamic microphone. The one shown in the video seems to have a mesh grill, but the M55 has one of those bar cages (I'm sure there's an actual name for that).

@@joshuacummings3178 You always had ebonics or African American vernacular but back then Black Americans and their culture was different. Black Americans back then were taught to always have class, be presentable, keep cool and that was in Black communities. It was not a white thing, in fact a lot of white people emulated people like Nat and Duke Ellington. That is why in many respects the coolest people back then were jazz artists. Today we don't have have full represenation of real Black Americans we have cartoonized versions. Today Black Americans in the media are painted more like minstrel shows then ever doing Nat King Cole's time.
I thought the interviewer was good...but you gotta remember, 2 people play a role in conversation. The interviewer and the interviewee...it takes two to tangle..sometimes the interviewee doesnt help while the interviewer is doing all the work. Cole looked like a shy guy, or was the type of person who warmed up in conversations. That's probably why he started moving back and forth in the beginning. To gain composure..trying to get comfortable to talk.
You may have been commenting on someone else's nasty interviewer comment but it's hard to imagine trying to take up for this interviewer...the least an interviewer can do is be somewhat prepared and know who they're interviewing. To associate rock and roll with Nat Cole is just moronic.
It's a damn shame what they did to him-l. They literally milked the man. He literally said he hasn't made enough money to retire yet, he sold 50 million records within a 15 year period. Very sad.
what kind of microphone is that?

The audio quality on this beats the heck out of even some of the current ones - Swiss quality!
It sounds like he's speaking directly to us now!
To think this was a mere 5 years before he passed... so sad. He was incredibly young with a voice that could melt the coldest heart.
I could listen to him speak all day, just like his songs
Beautiful singer! After he left this earth, noone else can sing as beautiful in his quality way! His legend lives on.
He has like the best speaking voice
“I prefer to do whatever I do”

Interesting and rare interview. Wonderful post!
What a beautiful man Nat King Cole was, he was and still is a legend and Will always be!

Is he speaking here or singing? Sounds beautiful either way!
What's the difference😂? The voice is incredible!
Very nice guy
A voz de todos os séculos!
Gone too soon
This is like TMZ of 1960's!
His speaking voice reminds me strongly of Humphrey Bogart's. Maybe Bogie could sing too!
So missed
Grande Nat King cole.😄
The gentleman asked questions such as the start of the trio that I Never knew the answer to before.
Thank you 🙏
KING!
He thought smoking Kool cigarettes was to keep his voice cool, sad. Brilliant chap
RIP KING

so now I see where rick James got his style of talking from or speaking.
He voice sounded like that through heavy smoking which killed him
Wow I didn't know that
He had a naturally beautiful voice, but the smoking gave it that "Smokey" quality.
