This interview is very, very good. What is great is that Sarah's love of her role is communicated by her professional investment and healthy pride as a UX writer. She clearly knows the expectation, pitfalls, and benefits of the profession. Her perfectionism is a plus even though it probably keeps her up at night. I am considering a complete career change and this was very helpful.

Could you share what bootcamp she enrolled in? I think it’s important to praise what helped you advance and help others benefit from it too!

This video was helpful! I'm researching UX writing to see if it could be a good fit for me and this video helped answer a few of my questions about the job. The part about the challenges UX writers might face was also really enlightening. Thank you for this resource!

What do you think of pain points? I am thinking of getting into ux writing but cant get past that term because it sounds non ethical.

It’s related more to “pain in the ass” than physical pain.

Problem is that you can be interested in UX writing but outside of US the prospects of having job posts to choose from is really really limited. In smaller tech startups companies they would want UX designer to do the writing and trying with big ones like Microsoft, Spotify etc. That do recognize it as separate role is very very competitive.

This is such an insightful conversation. I have been doing technical writing for 2 years now but my main challenge is landing a full-time role. I am a software engineer as well but I'd like to specialize in technical writing. Any leads? Thank you!

Hey there, I'd recommend putting a portfolio together (hosted on your personal website) for the industry that you want to get into. That's the easiest way.

If you are already a software engineer you have an easy lead into actual tech writing. Oftentimes companies call it Technical Writer but it's not for your people.
As the comment above said, you need proof that you can actually write.
