I very much agree with you, I deactivated my instagram account 2 years ango and initially I resorted to finding alternatives such as reddit or pinterest but now I have realized that it doesn't really matter and now I have a much better life and less screen time

the problem- as I tried to argue in the video- is that it's not being replaced by anything that is easily *archived* - we're losing entire years of creative visual discussions in chat apps that make it difficult to get your data out, and even if you don't choose are.na, the thought of losing all of those visual conversations when those various chat apps die or remove their archives - and we might not need the *social* part, necessarily, showing our friends images is one of the main ways that humans use the internet
