All the clothes you made are beautiful. I really like your square neck tee. This style is not easy to find, but it flatters my body and face shape greatly. I don't have the patience to make clothes from scratch. Usually I would buy a piece of clothing that is as close to my expectation as possible, then alter it to fit me perfectly. It is a lot of fun to make clothes the way I like instead of buying a lot of trendy clothes and only wear them once or twice as I don't really like them.

Hey Casey .. where is your awesome Poppy blouse? That's the one I want to make soon. It's an amazing pattern and it was 2022. You hit it out of the park with that one.

I always get inspired by your sewing practice. Knowing how to edit yourself is such a skill. I went thrifting today and could hav honestly come back with so much but I really thought about how each piece would fit in with what I already have and how much I would actually wear it. Same with sewing. I see something and I really want to make it because it looks like fun, but it’s really not my style. Looking forward to what you’re making in 2023

That first dress! I remember you making that and I have to agree with you, it’s a definite highlight. I’m always inspired by what you do, even if it’s tidying up your sewing space. 😊. I’m glad you included your simple rib knit tanks…I had forgotten that I wanted to try one. I’m not a very adventurous sewist, but I always appreciate your approach and your “out loud” thinking as you work through a project. Best wishes to you this holiday. 💕

I totally hear you on having more thought, intention, and time spent on each piece. I'm finally getting there myself. Not feeling like I have to reinvent the wardrobe wheel, as you say, is so freeing.I love these makes!...I may have to try a mesh shirt...

I really like the trench coat (and the original blazer it's based on - definitely would've snatched that up at the thrift store, too! ☺️) It might be daunting to make that coat into a pattern for the masses, but I really like the look of it. The ease in the fit is flattering, gives the coat an un-self-conscious "cool girl" vibe. Maybe put it on your "patterns to make and sell" list at some point in the future? Would love it! 😊

Thank you! Yes I love that coat--maaaaybe one day I'll get the energy to make it into a pattern haha. The problem is, I get so excited about the next project, it's hard to stay focused on one long term! haha

What a creative year! It’s a treat to follow along. ☺️ I *may* have squealed a little about the Comfi square neck expansion…it’s something I was meaning to hack myself, but haven’t gotten around to it, so I will happily take the lazy way around! Also, love the lights on your peg board!

I have moved my sewing space this week to one combo office area. My company work is slowly moving to semi retired and I was using a small space in a guest bedroom. Your updates inspired me and serger is on the same long desk ready to move from only quilt design and creation to some garment designs. I don’t have illustrator, but photoshop. I’m so glad to have found your channel recently. Love your content and educational style. Merry Christmas and be warm.

Great round up and reflections, Casey. You’ve definitely created a cohesive, practical but also fun wardrobe and it’s been fun to be able to see it all come together over the year. Just a quick comment about your trench coat that you didn't think was warm enough to wear in colder weather... I wear a fleece (non hooded) jacket under my lighter coats if the weather is cooler than expected. It is light enough to be inconspicuous under the coat but keeps your body cozy. Something to consider since your coat is too nice to sit in the closet!

Hello, I’m a new subie. I recently purchased a sewing machine due to spending so much money having alterations to my waist(I can’t never find the perfect pants or jeans that fit me in my waist). Do you have a tutorial on bringing in the waist and shortening the length of the pants?

I'm so glad! Thanks, Karina! And I don't give a full rundown on every aspect of illustator, but I cover everything I do to draft in the program and the tools I use the most, so a total beginner could follow along, I think. 🙌

    • @PatternScout

I designed the straps to work with my regular every day bra, but I also wear it without a bra and use a product called "nippies" for a little coverage :)
