One of my absolute favorite guitarists. I always thought his City Boy work was amazing. Guy can obviously play anything, and with great technique. No surprise at all, although an interesting note to find out he did all the early Warrant solos. No surprise also that he taught the Warrant guitarists how to do the solos so that they could survive the live gigs.

Luv Mike Slamer! Really deserves more recognition! He caught my ear back in 1983. Glad to hear the back story. I really wish I could meet him in person and thank him!

Interesting stuff, thank you. The guitar solo on the City Boy song One After Two is up there with the Since I've Been Loving You standards - brilliant.

I love the under water piano effect on One After Too. I've learned from the CB forum that it was Mutt's idea and that Max hated it.

Intriguing to hear the guitarero talk. From Birmingham but no 'Brummy' touch in his pronunciation. (OK, same story with the ZEPPELINers). However, there are quite a few hints of mild Australian. I wonder whether one of his parents came from down under?

🌏 His solo on One After Two (City Boy) is inspired, and it's the tip of a big iceberg. 🌎

I don't speak english very well... What does he says about Pyromania and Warrant?

So when he says he played the guitars on the Warrant records, was it just the solos, or did he play all the riffs too?

RJC 72 my understanding is he played on all (or the majority of leads) on Warrant’s first two records. I believe the actual Warrant guitarists handled the rhythm parts.

According to producer Beau Hill slamer played all the solos but the warrant guys recorded all the rhythm tracks also slamer teach the solos so they can played live

@@mottosierra1372 Yep, that is Beau Hill's (the actual album producer"s)take on it

Just the solos in almost every songs in DRFSR, Jani wrote the lyrics and Joey did the riffs

@@mottosierra1372 if you go back and watch some of the live Warrant videos from the early 90s, Joey and Erik tend to play their own solos with elements of the solos Mike played on the records. If it was a TV spot they were playing on, the solo was a backing track so that it was recognizable to the audience.

Ok Mike.....I love the stuff you do...but I have a HUGE beef....I am just really getting annoyed at your conservative approach to your music...I find that you're approaching everything you do with a similar formula of arrangements etc. You can REALLY play, in fact, you're one of the best....so I don't think I even care about the sparsely applied, great solos any more....because there are still not ENOUGH of them!!! Please indulge your ego a little more, stop trying to balance your musical formula and make an album that really focuses on and spotlights your guitar!!! In other words, your biggest fans are guitar players....almost no one else but musicians listen to your music...so forget about trying to Please anyone else, let's hear something that is full of reckless self indulgence for a change. Everyone wants to hear you shred unabashedly without the "let me just tease you for 16 bars" approach. If nothing else, you owe it to yourself to make the best GUITAR album of your career....time is fleeting....and then you never know what the future holds. No disrespect, I am a huge fan....I just wanted to give you a bit of a kick in your ass....and hear you play your heart out the way that the world is waiting for 😉 please??? Lol.

Man you absolutely nailed it ! I can’t get enough of mikes playing especially his solos as they are so melodic and excellently phrased ! I totally agree it’s like he’s a sideman or something I wish he would cut a instrumental guitar album or atleast chop it up way more on his projects.. just wish he did more plain and simple but with that being said I’ll always listen when a slamer solo comes on!
