I am a guitar player and promised myself, that if we got signed, I wanted Beau Hill to produce the album. He got such a large sound and knew the importance of dynamic range. Great kick and snare sound as well. He was the Eddie Van Halen of crafting the 80's metal sound.
He would be my first choice if I had too. He knows his s**t. Music industry is down the tubes as far as I'm concerned. I like the old school ways. This internet generation, anybody can make anything sound top notch on a cell phone!
@@metaljew4456 I have. I've mostly listened to the singles so far which are fun, I just hope the other songs on their albums are a bit heavier or more emotional because that's what I like so much about Winger and Warrant :)
Should've talked about Prisoners in paradise by Europe. Curious if Beau remembers the rejected album story by the record company. Or the story that he was called in because a certain Bob Rock pulled out to go working on a black album by an obscure band from San Francisco...
Too bad that album from the obscure band from San Francisco did not sell well at all. I bet Bob Rock regrets that he didn't produce Europe's Prisoners In Paradise album. Beau Hill actually did do an amazing job on it. It was just very bad timing.
@@johnkatsoudas4767 ofcourse he (Beau) did a great job on the Prisoners album! It's just funny how those things go. Right time right place and all that. As for Bob; I doubt he'll even remember that he was asked to do the Europe album 😉
I actually love the majority of albums that Beau Hill produced. The first four Ratt albums, especially Out Of The Cellar and Invasion Of Your Privacy are phenomenal albums. Winger's first two albums are amazing also, but I actually love everything they did after way more. Winger's Pull , Karma, and Better Days Comin are phenomenal albums. Other great albums that Beau Hill produced that did not sell as well as others are Kix's Midnight Dynamite and Twisted Sister Love Is For Suckers. Beau Hill definitely produced many great albums.
@@michaelthompson3286 Pull is a MASTERPIECE!!! I hate that it did not get the recognition that it deserved. It was my favorite Winger album for many years, but Karma became my favorite when it came out. My second favorite is Better Days Comin which is their most recent album. Winger in my opinion is one band that got better and better with time and every new album. They never deserved the treatment that Lars Ulrich and Beavis And Butthead gave them. I am and have been a huge massive fan of Winger since their first album came out back in 1988. I was barely 10 years old.
Great interview...very successful career to get into an hour...still would have loved to hear the story when Ratt replaced him for queen's engineer, only to have to get him back to save the album....
These bands definitely not on same level! I was 13 when “Out of the Cellar” dropped and RATT had 2 of the best Guitarist in the game w/Warren D. & Robbin C.”The King”!#🐀#🎸#🤘🏻
Sorry u had to go through that with Ratt. Terrible! Makes me have a greater appreciation for Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons. I once was at a doc in Valencia, & Bobby Blotzer was there and wouldn't shut up
@BrianSwordTheDoubleStop wait. ..where ..I was your biggest fan ..then the podcast just stopped .. are you telling me dbl stop is putting out new episodes? .. my friend you always had a way of just asking the right questions and never asking the boring questions these musicians and producers always get
Ratt was entirely replaced with doubles after out of the cellar and they had another set of doubles around 1983 that did photo sessions and some gigs that supported the first album ep. One of the guys was not even close to looking like Juan croucier! If in doubt look at the bottom teeth. There is a retainer line that signifies the presence of false teeth to match the originals.
LOL congrats, you just set the record for dumbest comment in the history of the internet. Yeah, Ratt had look-alike "doubles" that did photo sessions and gigs....oh FFS.
Jani wasn't really that great of a song writer. C'mon, now, "shes so pretty, she should be against the law", "You're the only hell you're momma ever raised", "Big Talk lookin' for trouble",ummmm without uncle toms cabin, which is the song we all point to when we speak of jani's brilliance, is the only song people come up with. His lyric's were a cross of bret michaels and bon jovi. I just never saw his lyric's as that good, rather mediocre at best. Now, Nikki Sixx, Dee Snider or Steven Pearcy, they are much better song writer's, they're just not dead yet so, get off this whole jani lane was the greatest song writer of the 80's. Warrant only had one damn album in the 80's. Get off it.
Nikki Sixx, Dee Snider and Stephen Pearcy great songwriters? Bullshit. What's so brilliant about these guys? All of them did what they did. Their lyrics are sexist, dumb and offfensive for anyone who read a book or two. The sound is good but the lyrics are garbage. At least, Jani knew he was a crappy songwriter.
You're kidding, right? One of the greatest songwriters of his era. You choose songs that don't even shed light to what his talent was. LOL @ who you actually think was better, as well.
If you want great lyrics with non memorable music/melody listen to Bob/Bruce save a couple. Ratt/warrant/winger wrote good melodies/music for teens that I still like today.
One of my top 5 music producers
Beau you are such a True Legend Sir!! Robert Mirabilio TYRANNY
That was just about the quickest hour I've spent. Beau Hill is a class act. Great stuff, Brian.

Beau is one of my favorite people to work with! I’ve known Beau now for 7 years and for me he is the most respected person in the music industry!!
He would be my first choice if I had too. He knows his s**t. Music industry is down the tubes as far as I'm concerned. I like the old school ways. This internet generation, anybody can make anything sound top notch on a cell phone!
If I was in a band recording an album, Beau Hill would definitely be my first choice. He is a phenomenal producer, mixer, and engineer.
Very true winger are outstanding musicians
I met Jani before he passed. What a super, nice, down to earth guy
Everybody looks at him as the best songwriter of the 80s… who are these people.
Ratt winger warrant are some of my fave bands
He produced a really good band back then called Black Bambi. Album didn't get released until recently.
Thanks - glad you liked it.
When Kip Winger did a song with Stevie Nicks, what year was this? Was this before Nicks joined Fleetwood Mac or during? Great interview!!
Highly doubtful it was before!
Really interesting to listen of his experiences, I don't know Ratt that much yet, but his work with Winger and Warrant is awesome :)
It’s now 7 years later. Have you discovered RATT yet?

Pull is such a criminally underrated rock album, shame it wasn't released a couple years earlier when the scene was still going strong!

Winger
Warrant
Ratt
All my favourite bands, this guy is a genius
great interview! all of them actually, glad I found you !
Great interviewer, which is rare
This content is amazing!
Sometimes she cries from warrant is actually a pretty good tune
Thumbs up if you just want Beau to spend the whole hour talking about Ratt's infighting and don't care about anyone else.
I do!
dude, he barley grazed over RATT.

The Warrant call made better guitarists out of Joey Allen and Eric Turner

I know I’m late replying to this, but was that a common thing to do in the 80’s?
LOL congrats, you just set the record for dumbest comment in the history of the internet.
