The handle looks identical to the Atomic Defender available on Grindworx. In fact, so does the blade, but the slide is slightly different. I never really thought about it before seeing this video that the Defender is loose copy of the Combat Troodon, but it makes sense...they're the same size, same blade size, etc. The Defender does have some decently thick blade locks which means it could stand up to being stabbed and power rocked in wood, and probably do a credible job of being hammered through, though that's not at all what normal people do with their OTFs.
I have exact same knife and yesterday the spring flew away and I lost is somewhere now unless I find it I’ll need to try and but a new spring assembly….my point is if take on apart you might think about doing it inside a open shoe box or something to catch any part that ejects from the knife once you open it up to clean…
the top flipper stop/pawl on real OTF's have a groove (on double edged blades) as not to dull the top of the blade on every actuation. China shortcut : D I noticed that in the clone that I have.
I know Im asking the wrong place but does anybody know of a trick to get back into an instagram account? I somehow forgot my account password. I would appreciate any tips you can give me
@Benjamin Franco thanks for your reply. I got to the site on google and im trying it out atm. Takes a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Got a clone BM Infidel coming and three clone UTC 85's. If they are junk, well I will have to do without and otf knife because I ain't paying the kind of money they want for real ones.
Everything the quality of the materials the handle the blade the screws the spring everything the engineering that went into the design for longevity the stresses in the knife itself just from opening and closing will eventually damage this knife to the point of not operating which is not the case with a genuine Microtech the Clone is only designed to work for a short period of time they're not designed to be used as everyday tools for extended periods the work but not forever a Microtech will fail as well but you are talking a scale of years or decades opposed to months with the Clone carried EDC
@@Lugermonger35 I thought that microtech had given China the patent for them to make the parts in China microtech imports them in, it says made in USA it is amazing USA but the parts of Chinese correct? @@frankwhite5455 no absolutely not there were no patents given or authorizations for clone production Microtech as far as material sourcing I'm not sure honestly it is possible however that would only fall under material not parts all of the parts are manufactured in house in the US as far as I understand and honestly this knife would not qualify for patent infringement on the genuine combat Troodon it is different enough that no one in a court of law would say they're the same knife they just look the same
So that's how China gets away with it, I've put a lot of replica/ clowns clothing items and accessories as well as phones and electronics, I ask myself that why don't they do an exact duplicate of these items, they got the possibility to do it but they don't the items always slightly different, now I see why that is
@@frankwhite5455 yes and just difficulty in the manufacture there's a reason these knives are $400 you can't make one the exact same for significantly less money even if you're in China so they make it look the same and then constructed as cheaply as possible to keep the price down and production numbers up
Inside however I prefer now not to oil my OTF knives when you oil or grease it seems to collect debris causing malfunctions they run better dry in my experience

The Atomic Defender uses the same handle as the one shown, same blade and is quite sturdy and reliable with a strong blade ejection. It's on the heavy side, but not to heavy when clipped to the pocket versus riding in the bottom. What makes an OTF great versus good are the blade locks. Microtech and Benchmade have some pretty thick blade locks that won't fail without literally shattering the knife handle. Really inexpensive OTFs often have thin slivers of metal for blade locks, but even that is ample for cutting tape, cord, boxes and stuff, even thrusting into soft materials. The first thing I noticed when I disassembled the Atomic Defender is that is has fairly beefy blade locks so it will hold up to quite a bit of abuse without collapsing the blade into the handle. Also, on mine, there is ZERO blade movement which is what you expect on a $250 knife, not necessarily on a $35 knife! It really doesn't matter if the blade has some play, what matters is how much blade shank is retained inside the handle, and how close the tolerances are in the blade slot. The Defender has a bit over 1" blade retained inside the handle which means to break the knife in half would require more force than it takes to snap the average hinged-blade knife. If you wedged the Defender to the hilt in a crevice then used it to hang weight on I doubt it would break before an equal-size hinge-lade knife, and even then most would likely fail by the blade break instead of the handle fracturing and giving way.
You do know you don't have to off track the blade to disassemble? The blade is only under spring tension when you push on the button, and only when you push the button.
