mmm... THIEF (1981) . Same exact scene. Was made by the director of Miami Vice...and the Soundtrack was done by Tangerine Dream(Blade Runner, Mass Effect,Gta 5) .
Never noticed this before, but when he speeds up on the bridge, he never passes any of the cars in front of him. He's not actually going fast at all and you just think he is because they added the sound of the engine in post.
probably the best scene in the movie. shame they didn't explain the carpark ending. could he not escape so he ditched them in a carpark to save himself or was that the plan?
I'm pretty sure that's the plan. He's constantly listening to the game to get into the parking just as the game ends so everyone will blend in the crowd getting out the arena.
1.) Literally thousands of people were going to be streaming out the exits at that point. The couple of squad cars that made it to the scene in time wouldn't have had the manpower to scan and search everyone as they were leaving. 2.) It ended in the arena parking garage, so it's highly plausible there was a second parked car waiting for the burglars to use to drive out. And again, the 2-4 cops weren't going to be able to make every leaving car stop for a search.
I gotta say, I come back to this scene again and again, and the rest of the film IS NOTHING like this, save one more car chase. Strange how this scene is so perfect and the rest is so weird in comparison...
I wonder what car sound they used for the Impala! I think it’s reasonable to assume that we all know that an Impala does not sound or shift like that 😂😂.
I'm almost positive that luck had little to do with it. The movie seems to indicate by the Driver listening carefully to radio broadcast of the game that was going on at the stadium at the end that he planned this. He most likely knew that that place at that time would be very crowded and thereby ideal to slip out unnoticed. Or at least that was my impression
Yea but Driver is giving them the option to A) Sneak out with their loot/Jewelry with the crowd or B) Ditch their loot/jewelry in the car and don't go to jail.
R* wanted to give that "manhunt" feeling back again, to make the player feel like they're being hunted by the cops just like right here. I hope they're this smart.
It's super hard to capture actual speed of a car on camera onboard the car. They'd need a second car rushing next to it and film from a side angle so you'd see how fast the surroundings fly past, but that'd ruin the feel they were going for.
1) All they had to do was spot the two guys holding gigantic bags, not so difficult even with thousands of people leaving. 2) Well that's a good point but it would have been nice for the film makers to show the second car instead of leaving it up to the imagination of the audience. Don't get me wrong, this scene is a masterpiece, but it still bothers me a tiny bit. Actually showing the second car would have made the scene flawless for me.
Well the game could have gone into overtime, so he avoided some bad luck at least. Maybe he had a contingency plan for that, like if the game was close he would have driven somewhere else. But the fact remains that overtime = no people in parking garage = this plan doesn't work.
But the cops were searching the lot. After all the people from the game cleared out there would be one car left, with 2 guys in it holding giant bags o cash...If they tried to leave with the cash before then, in the car the cops were looking for, they would get caught.
I've only watched this one scene in this movie, but wouldn't it look suspicious for an Clippers fan to be walking out alone looking not at all happy or joyful that they won? I mean, the police cars were right they, so it seems they knew the Impala went into the carpark, wouldn't they try and look for suspicious people? As far as I'm concerned, he could've blended into the crowd way better.
I doubt the police would even suspect someone using a ballcap as a disguise. They would be looking for some who seems nervous or is rushing to leave, not someone calmly walking away.
Was he driving an auto or a manual with both hands on the wheel sound like a manual with 10 gear shift ,, They always fuck that part up in movie making .............
Wait I don't get it was he working with the police the whole time? What the hell are those two robbers going to do? Get out of the car with their bags of money and be like "Hey everyone how ya doing?" Did he drop them off next to their car?
Easily one of the coolest scenes I've ever seen.
Having the radio in the car on was brilliant. Added so much to the scene.
An absolute perfect getaway scene. As good as the movie is though it is a shame that there isn't more scenes like this in it.

Probably the best scene indeed. When he accelarated the car after the helicopter had seen them on the bridge, was awesome! Good sound!
My fav scene definitely! Thanks for the upload!
This and the Reacher chase is awesome.. Very authentic, with the driver being intelligent
awesome scene
the sound in this video is sooooo good
the movie is amazing its more then just getaway drivers
he left his watch
he wasn't going to abandon the car lol
Love the cap look at the end

Well considering he had a Clippers hat ready to go and was already listening to the game...
Yeah, I think the plan was to get them away from the scene. After that they're on their own.
Like a boss

You can even get a replica jacket in the game that he wears in the movie, except for a scorpion on the back, it has a crab.
Wait. Did anyone else catch the intro to Revolution 909 (daft punk) in the last seconds of the scene?
plus the chevy impala was at the time the most common car on the road iirc.
It's like a less violent Hotel Miami. At least by the music.

This scene reminds me so much of GTA V.
It's not just your impression, it's plainly apparent that was his plan all along. That guy's just slow on the uptake.
I wonder what car sound they used for the Impala! I think it’s reasonable to assume that we all know that an Impala does not sound or shift like that 😂😂.
that's ballsy as fuck to walk arm's reach by the LAPD. They wasn't expecting that one lmao

The Driver promises them five minutes of his skills once they complete the robbery. When the five minutes are up, he leaves them to their own devices.
R* wanted to give that "manhunt" feeling back again, to make the player feel like they're being hunted by the cops just like right here. I hope they're this smart.
until morning, sure.
The speed on the bridge is too slow ,it failed to convince me to believe gosling's skill.

hell yes
Helicopter located the impala then it purrrrsssss!!!!!

What song is in this scence?
Chromatics - Tick Of The Clock
He makes a Good Girl wanna turn Bad
Name of song?
Tick of the Clock by Chromatics
anyone know the music?
I dont't fully get it.
He leaves those 2 bad guys in the car at the stadium.
So, are they arrested or??
Daft Punk - Revolution 909 at 6:20
I don't think they could just walk past the cops with those giant bags. Ditching the bags makes the whole thing pointless.
ahh the Cannes film festal version not the redone crap released on blue ray
The Chromatics Tick of the clock
But the cops were searching the lot. After all the people from the game cleared out there would be one car left, with 2 guys in it holding giant bags o cash...If they tried to leave with the cash before then, in the car the cops were looking for, they would get caught.
At the begining
Well that's good to know haha.
a tually it depend on the call
The chase scenes were perfect but I thought the film itself was diabolical. Just stylised violence for it's own sake. Perhaps I missed the point.
You should watch "DRIVE Analyzed - Movie Review (SPOILERS)" video by Chris Stuckmann.
Hotline?

GTA V anyone?
why would the 1960s music station be playing a Clippers' game??? lol smh
So...the guys in the back with the money are going to live in the staples center parking garage for the rest of their lives?
8 and its a manual lol.
Was he driving an auto or a manual with both hands on the wheel sound like a manual with 10 gear shift ,, They always fuck that part up in movie making .............
How many fuckin gears does he have?
in the movie it was toronto vs los angeles.. wtf is this?
Again, this isn't the DVD version
why did you add stupid siren sound effects? none of that was in the movie..
This isn't the DVD release version
whats up with the shitty colour
Wait I don't get it was he working with the police the whole time? What the hell are those two robbers going to do? Get out of the car with their bags of money and be like "Hey everyone how ya doing?" Did he drop them off next to their car?
