    Bill Werwage is arguably the greatest control line designer, builder and flier of all time. What a treat to have him generously share his knowledge. Many thanks and much appreciated.

      Translation when all these great champions built aircraft from A to Z and also drew up the plans of very experienced builders with exceptional finishes, and yes at that time no ARF

    I've been stuck on deciding on scratching a Stiletto or a Classic Ares. After this, it's gotta be the Ares.
    What a Beautiful Build!!

      @@Stunthangar Would it be worth the effort to go with a 4 stroke, or is a light 2 stroke better?
      Also, do you have any videos of applying dope to silk span on the open structure?
      Your finishes are unbelievable!

      4 stroke is too heavy. There are many finishing videos in old How to's on this channel.

    Sorry to ask a question again.....
    I have watched this video a few times!
    My question is how will you design an I-beam split wing?
    How will you join the two wings?

    • @Stunthangar
      @Stunthangar  5 месяцев назад

      The beam is built into the fuse. It runs from tip to tip one peice

      @@frogsoda I broken CA joint was probably a poorly fitted joint to begin with.
      CA filling a gap is brittle and can break, but CA joining closely fitted wood to wood seams is stronger than the wood itself. CA soaks deep into the wood pores and grain and makes a very strong bond.

    Hi Bill, built a Cobra proved to weak and broke up in flight. So really enjoyed your video. Just one question, I noticed you had no root ribs. I thought you were doing those when you did the bits around the undercarriage. I presume you must have something at the root to be able to cover and also for strength. Thanks so much for your time making video.

    • @Stunthangar
      @Stunthangar  5 лет назад +1

      root ribs are 1/2 to 3/4 inch wide glued to fuse

  • @micregil
    @micregil 4 года назад

    Could the wing be built with the same length for each side instead of having one side 2 inches shorter, how would it affect the flight characteristics, would tip weight need to be added?

  • @daveday5507
    @daveday5507 5 лет назад +1

    The 'Argus' and the 'Ares' were the same design, sold to different magazines. Steve Wooley told me that. It's a much easier build if you use solid ribs and slide them on the spar.

  • @daveday5507
    @daveday5507 3 года назад

    All that effort and then you have to block sand it to get it right.
