Hey guys, if you enjoyed this video please give it a thumbs up! I wanted to mention two things that I forget to bring up in the video.
1. A lot of guys add shims in between the pitman arm and the steering box to reduce any sort of play and to protect the sector shaft.
2. People tend to convert to wheel studs instead of using the bolts.
I wanted to bring these to attention so people have the full picture on how to build one of these beams! Hope everyone is excited for Ep. 3
Edit: added links in the description to everything used in the video!

As a 77 year old retired engineer I take my hat off to you 2 young men for your knowledge and ability to relay that knowledge in detail to your channel. Good luck and best wishes for the future. Regards Tony
thank you for the kind comment Tony! That means a lot
I love how educational you guys make these videos. It's not just showing the finished projects but we get to learn a lot along the way. Keep it up!
thats the goal! We know how hard it can be to find info on things such as this and hope the videos make the information available for everyone. Thanks for the comment
You guys are doing great with the fabrication. If I were building this, I think I would have started by having the beam hot-tanked after disassembly to get all the old grease and dirt out of it.
You two make a good pair...your knowledge and your partner's welding skills is impressive.
Tuesday’s just got a whole lot better. Great job guys
I admire their ingenuity in their fabrications, I'm fact they have helped me get started with my bug
This. Is. Amazing. Look, I have no idea how much you guys get paid, but you are light years ahead of anything I would ever have thought up on my own! There is this reality that people eventually arrive at, but usually when they are much older than you.... it isn't good enough to be one of the best in the world at what you do, that's just not good enough, your responsibility to humanity at large, is to make other people as good at what you do as you are.... and this does that.
Good timing on video. RUclips suggested this to me after I watched the class 11 race at KOH the other night, I'm betting there's a lot of people out there right now trying to learn about class 11. Good information in there. You're brave for welding that close to your truck, remember, welding slag likes to stick to glass...
Best Grassroots off-raod fab channel on the Tubes!!!
thank you sir!
Some of the guys I knew would use the section you rotated 9/16 to also add 3 " total to widen the track for better control and move the mounts and add extra gussets for strength. Good job on everything you did to that front end and steering arm keep the rod burner happy he really did a good job ...
Nice job beefin up the front end guys. Cheers from B.C. Canada.
I wish I had a tig welder. I appreciate the learning from this video. My brian is slightly less stupid now
Both explanation in all process is amazing hop you both the best future ✌
Great video. Lot of information on why your doing what you’re doing. Just picked up my 69 last week, and plan on tackling this over the weekend. Thanks a lot!
Very nice work !!!
Excellent description of work being done.
Just Awesome! Baja! But. you could spot weld those ends some more. In between every existing one just put another!
Great job guys!
Great Job.. I'm Starting a Rally bug in the Spring so these tips will help..
Cool! Where will you race it? Will it be street legal? What class will it race in?
@@ericlarson63 here in Ontario, Canada..
Mate, that beam looks beautiful ... thanks, looking forward to watching this later. Subscribed.
I just got vw thing spindles, im about to install them this weekend!! Looks great!
Love the trailer park boys reference 😂😂😂
baaaaayyuuuummm
@@WingsWorldChannel why don’t you frig off Ricky
@@WingsWorldChannel Peanut Butter and Jaaaaaaaaam
I don’t get it.
@@dozer1642 you’d have to watch trailer park boys. It’s on Netflix.
Very Educative and Informative, Thanks for sharing.
Congrats on 25k subscribers
BIG SHAFT GANG!
Chris has nice welds
Awesome video! Great welding!
Nice work ,great video. I'm curious though, why keep the torsion bars? With those shocks you could use through rods instead and get much better shock action and tune ability and also shave about 25lbs off the front end...... ... With the torsion bars doing most of the work you can't enjoy the full beauty of what those shocks have to offer. Longer trailing arms is also a huge upgrade. Keep up the good work.
Dude your thumb!!!! Yikes. Looks like mine when I got it stuck in a hydraulic tubing bender. Thanks for this video, was awesome. Can’t wait to start building my 11 car
Great work
Love video! Best luck with your thumb😆
haha thank you, probably be healed up in a few months
Very nice👍👍
Awesome video!
Your videos are soooo motivating 🤙
Sick!
So Bad ass!!! AWESOME video. I wish you guys did this a few months ago... when I was doing my C11 beam! haha Lots of useful info. I'm bummed because I didn't know 11 bros made a kit like that! LOL. But the kit I fabbed seems to be good enough (similar). When I raced class 9, the other racers told me to avoid the high angle balljoints - they said they didn't last as long as the Febi/Bilstein BJ's in a racing situation - Who knows if that's accurate. Also, those kings are SO SICK!!! How much for a set?????
Thank you! I wouldnt be surprised if the balljoints didn't last as long. They experience more motion than the stock style so they may wear quicker. I think it is worth it to garnish a little bit more travel though.
Nice work!
I love your videos guys! Can you add some links in description plz? it will help us a lot to find the parts you used.🤘
Links added! I believe I got everything important
Thanks for the links,
If you can add the shocks model or ref to identify them easily that will be perfect!
What year is your bug? Because I’ve heard for Baja bugs you don’t want anything after like 1971 or before around 1965 or something like that because of the different suspension design?
That thumb tho :o
Saaaah Dudes!!!
aaaaasssssahhhh dude
When you cut and installed the sway bar into the tie rods did you weld them n or just leave them in loose
Question: Why are the 11 cars running ball joint front ends as opposed to king & link? Thanks
Do you have to call King Shocks? I couldn't find any Info on their Website. Thanks.
Roll cage and skid plates and a 110 cam and time to bash
Should run Class 11 next Year at the KOH..Big Pay day and its easy for doing any support that the car may need...Do you prefer the Ball Joint Front over the Link Pin Style Front end? Looking Good Guys!!
I watched the race the other day, looked really fun, definitely big payday for racing! As far as Ball Joint vs. Link Pin, I have heard that the linkpin beams are a little stronger (dont have to worry about destroying ball joints) but I am not sure about the travel numbers between the two, maybe someone else could chime in that knows some more.
@@WingsWorldChannel Link pins have infinite travel until the arms bind on something...and much stronger.
I'm playing warzone and watching this
that is an unexpected combo!
rad
Cool info. But a ball joint front beam for a baja?????? Class 11. Most run kingpin linkpin front ends.
👍
💯
Where did you buy your mig and tig welding machines, which store do you recommend?
How bout a part number for the king shocks?
Bad ass build coming or nah👌👌
Probably not
A pipe cutter does this great
Hey man so my Baja bug has that adjustable thing under the ball joint it’s a 67 vw beetle are those stock
Where did you get all the pre-cut beam gussets?
that bump stop on the shock should be removed, that pressure as you call it will go into the shock tower
that is a very good point, i will probably remove it next time we revalve the shocks, thank you!
Awesome video! Is there any way to add the links to some of these products? Ie. shocks, Sletten engineering kit?
Links added to everything! The sletten kit I got by contacting them via instagram and the shocks I ordered through Down South Motorsports!
@@WingsWorldChannel Thanks a ton!
That thumb had to hurt.
yea snagged it pretty good with a 5pd sledge haha
@@WingsWorldChannel wow, we went back and paused. My dad was a welder husband and son are both mechanics. I’ve seen a lot of smashed thumbs.Yours was impressive ..
What did u get for travel on this setup
Yours have video build rollcage in bug??
what is the part # for those kings
I figure I ask someone here. Anybody’s know a good reliable place for re gearing and locking? Anywhere in SoCal.
Classe once el tortuga
When are you guys doing a video on how you guys did the bronco gas tank swap on the f150???
That was actually done by the previous owner of Christians truck. I have not done it so I cant give you specifics, but the previous owner told me it involves adding another crossmember to help mount the tank. Sorry I cannot be more helpful.
the thumb made my whole body hurt
You guys have any ranger videos coming out soon?
perhaps some walkaround videos on rangers, nothing planned as far as building one though
Do you make and sell what you did here? Just starting a build and would like to start with suspension. Thank you.
Does anyone actually run VW engines in these anymore? I see all the local guys to me run Toyota or Honda engines
you do not want that junk on the front end stops
Metal on metal bumpstop/travel limiter isn't cool lol
I mentioned in the title as well as a few times in the video that we built this beam to Class 11 Race specifications. Per the rules, you are only allowed the use of hook and rods stops and not hydraulic stops.
ball joint front beam are junk compared to a kingpin beam
Anyone watching this. Please understand that you do not use a ball joint front beam to build a Baja or buggy.
This is wrong and dangerous. You use a kingpin linkpin set up for off road.
Ball joint front end is required for class 11.
Class 11 has 2 choices. Irs with ball joint or king pin with swing axle.
This channel was much better when Christian was actually building trucks.
You've actually got nothing but hate for these guys. What gives?
Foos mad cause he can’t fab like Christian all he’s doing is making this channel better
@@leoloera3323 exactly my man
Don’t be a turd lol
Not everyone can build a 100k truck every 6 months for fun
Stop smoking Christian. You'll be a much better builder.
I don’t do drugs or drink hahaha can’t wait to see your fab videos though my guy!
