    This young man grew up about 4 minutes from where I live in Staffordsville Kentucky. From a wonderful family, He attended Johnson Central High School, He hasn’t forgotten his roots, he came back home not too long ago and bought all new instruments for the High School band.Lexington likes to claim him, he was born there, but was raised in the beautiful hills of Eastern Kentucky, and we’re so proud of him!!

    The woman singing harmony with Chris is his wife Morganne. They have 6 children and you can just see the love in the way they look at each other. Morganne has a great voice also. Thanks so much for a great reaction. Peace and blessings.

    Many reactors do miss the context of this song. Love brought him back from the drink and literally saved him for dying from alcohol. Love is now the only thing he needs.
    Please listen to it again with that in mind.
    Chris is the perfect balance of Blues, Soul, Country and even a touch of rock and a taste of gospel.

    The style is signature Chris Stapleton. He is a firm believer in less is more. He depends on the emotion in his voice and playing to carry the song. If he has ever missed, I haven't heard it. He can move you to rage (against a mass tragedy), great sadness for a lost pet, great empathy for a man in emotional pain or joy for someone deeply in love with so few words and simple cords.
    Here he combined a popular Blues Riff with old Country Music Lyrics. People often call it a cover of one or the other. In reality it is something different from either, although a homage to both.

    I have seen him in concert in a large outdoor venue and can vouch for the fact that I got chills when he sang this even though I was far away, in the lawn seats. Of course I would love to have been at this small performance (or any small performance), but it's awesome live anywhere! It's a different vibe with thousands of people singing along and the smell of a specific kind of smoking substance hanging heavy in the air. Lol. Great reaction, he is in my top 5 favorite voices of all time!

    Chris is good in everything he sings! I adore his cover of It's A Man's World. I think he won like 3 or 4 Grammies this year. I know it was several. His voice is butter with a sizzle to it.

    You two are welcome to TN any time! Its beautiful here, I was born & raised here, not far from the Great Smoky Mountains. I hated country until Chris & his wife Morgane came along. Chris isn't in a box, you two should listen to more, he did Whipping Post & Greg Allman is in the audience, Chris don't miss on anything he does. I love him because he always has his wife right there w/ him. I also wanted to suggest The Eagles. Wow those 2 would bring your channel to a different level! Anyway, I thought I would recommend them. Love & peace! ❤✌🏼

  • @daleb1279
    @daleb1279 2 года назад +4

    Chris viewed himself as largely a songwriter and guitar player and didn't think he sang very well and also suffered from stage fright and his wife Morgane singing there with him on stage convinced him that he was truly a talented vocalist and helped him with stage fright too.

  • @azekel7687
    @azekel7687 2 года назад +8

    Chris' voice has a lot of "Rasp" that it makes it rough, yet his voice captivates you because it might be rough with rasp, but it's smooth, and his wife, Morgane's voice compliments his, he has a bit of stage fright, so she assists him sometimes on stage by blending her voice with his. Please react to Chris Stapleton "Cold" Live at the CMA's. His live performances are way better than the studio ones.

  • @JensRandolff
    @JensRandolff 2 года назад +2

    It is always a joy to watch you two. This was another wonderful reaction. Chris Stapleton is generally better live so pick his live performances over his studio versions whenever possible. The lady singing with him is his wife Morgane. She frequently performs with him and is an amazing singer in her own right. He didn't actually start out as a singer but limited himself to songwriting. He has written and co-written over 170 songs, among them six number-one country songs, earning him nine ASCAP Country awards, including the Vanguard Award. His songs have been recorded by some of music's biggest stars, including Adele, Brad Paisley, and Dierks Bentley. He has co-written songs with Vince Gill, Peter Frampton, Sheryl Crow, and Ed Sheeran, to name a few. He also wrote some songs for feature films, which are included on their respective soundtracks.
    In 2007, Chris Stapleton started as the frontman for the bluegrass band The SteelDrivers, which is how I first learned of him. In 2010, he started a Southern Rock band called The Jompson Brothers. In 2013 he started his solo career after being signed by Mercury Nashville. He surprisingly did not become an overnight success. However, He eventually did become well-known and has been unstoppable ever since. He has received numerous awards and nominations. He is the recipient of five Grammys, seven Academy of Country Music Awards, ten Country Music Association Awards, five Billboard Music Awards, two iHeartRadio Music Awards, and some others.
    I would recommend his live performances of Sometimes I Cry at the Binge Lounge, his Austin City Limits performance of I was Wrong, his impromptu cover of James Brown's It's A Man's World, his tribute performances to Prince and Aretha Franklin, any other live performance, as well as his music video "Fire Away". Be forewarned, the last one is a tear-jerker, no matter how tough you are.

    Chris covered this song. it was first done by David Allen Coe about 1980. George Jones covered in about 1983.
    I've been listening to him for a couple of decades. He was with a group called The Sterldrivers. Check out their songs If it Hadn't Been for Love or Midnight Train to Memphis.

    If you liked this, you're in for a treat exploring this man's song collection. The best ones are live performances...like Barely Alive, Whiskey and You, Joy of My Life (not live) , Starting Over, What Are You Listening To, I Was Wrong, Nobody to Blame, Fire Away (video). Everything can be found live except the ones I mentioned. Have fun!

    One night a Family Friend invited us to a Jam Session at His home. They discovered I could Sing and a Local Music Teacher complimented Me on My Voice. Ever since then if given the opportunity I'll usually Sing. That brings Me back to My Story about Marie Osmond's "Paper Roses 🌹" One day one of My Friends who I used to Sing with was staying with our other Friend and Her Family. We were going to a party across the road and I was ready early. I went to hang out with Her Parents and wait. Her Dad got out His Guitar and started Playing and Singing The Bee Gees "Massachusetts". I started Harmonising with Him, He was disappointed when We left. We started Performing together including at Their Anniversary Party. He made a strange Request for Marie Osmond's "Paper Roses 🌹" which is about Imitation Love ❤. As it's His Wife's favourite song. There were quite a few people who hadn't heard Me Sing before and were blown away. Unfortunately He developed Alzheimers and couldn't Perform anymore. A couple of years ago He passed away in His Sleep. But I still treasure those memories.

    Talking about Country Songs that have gotten through to people who don't like those types of songs. Years ago I was Singing Marie Osmond's "Paper Roses 🌹' in a car with My Cousin and His Wife. She complimented Me on My Voice and said "That sounds good, but I don't know that song." When I mentioned the name of the original artist and the song, My Cousin said "It's Country!" His Wife said "That explains it, I don't like Country. But I'll have to check it out." Marie Osmond was just a Teenager when She sang that song. I have had another interesting experience Singing "Paper Roses 🌹" but I'll give some background information first. I've Loved to Sing ever since I was a Little Girl. But I didn't have much confidence in My Voice because Dad thought He was a Great Singer when He wasn't. He was Tone-deaf and had no sense of Timeing. I'll start another comment.

    When I was 13 Mum and I left My Him because He was Abusive. We moved from Brisbane to The Atherton Tablelands, Far North Queensland which is up a Mountain Range behind Cairns. There's Rainforests, Waterfalls, Rolling Green Hills and Cooler Temperatures. My Big Sister who can also Sing moved in with Us. She and some friends got a Band together to Perform with some others including 2 of My Close Friends. I didn't have A Best Friend, I had 3 Close ones instead. I'd Sing with My Sister and those Friends but not in front of people. One of My Friends has a Higher Vocal Range, the other has a Lower one and Mine is Mid. We'd get together and Sing 3 part harmonies. But I only got up on stage and sang with them once. It was at a Party, most of the guests had gone to get something to eat and drink. We spotted a Piano 🎹 and We sang Bette Midler's "The Rose 🌹" I'd been too busy enjoying myself to notice the crowd We'd attracted. Just one last comment.
