    Thus needs waaaay more views. First I’ve seen of this combo.
    I actually specifically searched Armstrong APF wing foil and took me a while to find this

      Hey there! It was great to meet you, thanks so much for making me feel welcome. Hopefully we will get another chance at a session soon. Thanks again!

    You're gettin after it in the surf! I've prone foiled for years. So easy for me to catch waves and pump and carve around on a small board.
    Watching you trim down the line on a DW board in the surf is pretty sweet. I tried a DW board in the surf and it was rough for a while.
    Those boards are tricky to maneuver.

      Thanks so much for checking it out man! The DW board definitely has it's pros and cons, I'm hoping that eventually I'll be that comfortable on a smaller board, but for now I am stoked on how versatile this DW is.

    Looking good! Thanks for sharing.
    A potential tip for you in light wind winging - I use a different grip in light wind with my Strike V2 5m and V2 CWC 8m, and it might be helpful for you. Once I reach my knees, I shift my grip on the front handle, especially the back handle, as far to the rear of the wing as I can. This helps me catch more wind, get more movement of the wing surface for the same arm pull distance, and increases my clearance from the tail of the wing to the water (assuming the nose of the wing is aimed upward somewhat).
    I need to stop being lazy about my Insta360 as I do learn from it.

      Hey thanks so much, I really appreciate the tip! I can see that I'm holding the front of the handles and it definitely seems like it would be better to be farther back on them. I think maybe I'm always so worried about staying upwind still that I focus too much on keeping the sail as far back as possible so I round up into the wind. I'll focus on that next session! I'd say get the camera out, it's been so helpful for me in so many ways. Thanks so much for the comment!!

      I would have a lot of anxiety about staying upwind in that situation, too. That said, when you are trying to pump up on foil, the sooner you are on foil, the sooner you are going the most upwind.

      I only have two sessions winging but I know what I can feel. I did the same. In super light wind, holding farther back helped me "scoop" more wind and drive/pump the wing a bit. I can get speed in light wind. I can get on my feet and "taxi" out. But I can't get up on foil. Light wind with a HA880 is tough for a beginner. So stoked to get a APF 1675 and combine it with either my huuuuge 5'10" wing board, or my 7' DW board.

      This was the north end of Capo Beach, pretty much Doho. I just watch surfline and when Doho shows 10kts I'm there. I'll be in the area for a few months, hopefully we'll cross paths.

    Do you like the 100L size for the dragonfly?

    • @FluidFoil
      @FluidFoil  3 месяца назад

      I love the board and the size is perfect for light wind winging and SUP or prone surfing. For downwind SUP I would like it to be a bit longer, but for everything else I wouldn't change it.

    I am total beginnermediate, but I have that same wing/version/size. Have you tried grabbing towards the back of both handles while in light wind? I found it catches the wind much better then I slide my hands to the middle or front after I am up and riding. Just something to try. I noticed you were grabbing the extreme front end of the handles much of the time. Enjoying the videos!

      @FluidFoil  10 месяцев назад

      Hey, thanks so much for that! I'll definitely be focusing on my hand position next time out, I can see from the video what you are saying and it for sure looks like I would be better off farther back on the handles. I've got it firmly in mind now, can't wait for my next chance to progress!
      Super helpful to have you guys commenting in here, I can't tell you how much I appreciate it. Thanks again!

    Hello!! It was a very cool video!
    I d like to know about the wind knots while winging. I know at the beginning of your video you show and mention later 5 knots, but in the end was it really 5 knots? Amazing

      Hey, thanks so much! I forgot to measure again but it definitely increased throughout the day. I think when I was sailing it was probably around 5-7k with some gusts to 10k or so and occasional lulls as well. It is amazing how easily the foil lifts off, the combination of the DW board and the pump foil is absolutely fantastic for light wind. I'm really looking forward to getting a lot more days on foil this summer thanks to this set up. Thanks again for the comment and kind words!

    Thank you for the video! I am currently a beginner (95kg) using a 98L Cabrinha Code board with 1600cm2 mid aspect foil and 6m wing. I live in Quebec with low wind (6-10 knots) and I am having a hard time to get on foil. I am considering purchasing this KT Dragonfly board with an Armstrong 1675 or 1880 foil, do you have any recommendations for the size of the board and foil? Thank you

    • @FluidFoil
      @FluidFoil  10 месяцев назад

      Do it! The long narrow board makes it so much easier to get on foil in light wind in my experience. My board is sized exactly correctly for my size according to the manufacturer's sizing chart, which is about 35-40L above my weight in Kg.
      I thought it might be a bit big since I wasn't planning on much downwind sup paddling, but I'm really glad I didn't go smaller. I would recommend you do the same, use the KT recommendation for sizing. I would say don't go too small, if I had more cargo space in my rig I'd probably have gone bigger myself.
      For the foil I think you could do either of the APF sizes, but it depends on your priority. I think for the lightest wind winging and the easiest lift off at your size the 1880 would be my choice. It may be a bit harder to turn but you'll be flying in almost no wind. Hope that's helpful, thanks so much for your comment and kind words!

    • @Jorvl09
      @Jorvl09 10 месяцев назад

      @FluidFoil Thank you awesome feedback! If I start by purchasing the board and keep my mid-aspect 1600cm2 Cabrinha until I upgrade to the 1880 in the next year or so do you think I will still be able to benefit for low wind? Or I should really pair this board with a HA wing to fully enjoy it?

    • @FluidFoil
      @FluidFoil  10 месяцев назад

      @@Jorvl09 Definitely get the board first, that will make an enormous difference for taking off in light wind. Your foil should be just fine to get you up and flying in light wind. A new HA pump foil will be faster and have more glide to get through lulls, but I think you will greatly improve your light wind take off ability even if you only upgrade the board right now.

    • @Jorvl09
      @Jorvl09 10 месяцев назад

      Perfect I will proceed that way! As I'm 95kg would you tend to go for the 121L or 135L? I would prefer the 121L for size wise, I'm afraid the 135L if going to be harder to use..@@FluidFoil

    • @FluidFoil
      @FluidFoil  10 месяцев назад +1

      @@Jorvl09 In my opinion you won't regret the bigger size. I know it seems like it might be too big, but I think you'll appreciate that once you are using it, especially in light wind. Not to mention if you ever do decide to SUP DW it will be much much better for that as well.
