When I learned to drive it was stop ,look, listen still can't cross tracks without slowing to a crawl even if the crossing has devices.
Never mind the barriers, lights, etc... surely they would have seen the HUGE FREAKIN' TRAIN coming in from the side at 30-ish mph? There's two different roads coming in from the right as well, if anyone was about to run those intersections they'd have been a sitting duck for being t-boned also.
*"dumb ways to die, so many dumb ways to die, dumb ways to diiiie so many dumb ways to die"* - brought to you by Metro Trains.
Too funny.🤣
0:39 Amcrash. You get it?
was there a working crossing gate
I'm guessing this was a quiet zone?
Why am I only focused on the NEC Cafe car?
I told you giving stevie wonder a drivers license was a bad idea!
Actually stevie probably would have heard the bells and stopped.
Why is there a train running down the main drag in this town?
Trains began running along this route in 1836......Ashland wasn't even incorporated as a town until 1858. Trains were here first.
This is common in America. They didn't want to move the tracks so they just built roads around it.
It's either high way or die way. Stop, look, and listen at all railroad crossings
What about the other side?
I love the trains you bringed to me.
You bringed Amtrak vs. SUV @ Ashland, VA and it was great! The worst inner section is Oxnard California.
Once a train executes and emergency stop does it have to go to completion - the car seems to stop before impact an the is no debris field?
You can hear the impact.
I wonder how these people make it through life it's a wonder keep it up and have a train smashing day
To those who don't understand, flashing red lights and boom gates means STOP! Don't ever try to beat the lights, it is utter foolishness!!🇦🇺🇺🇸
What happened to the SUV and driver? Serious injury?
It's 7:47 am the car drives into the crossing gate arm first. The shadow of the car is directly behind it. The shadows on the ground are long, meaning the sun is low in the sky. I'd be willing to bet my paycheck that the rising sun was in the drivers eyes and didn't see the gates or train.
1 year later .... I'll take that bet. He's unlikley to have been blinded by the sun. See my post above for more details.
I mean come on we do not see the cross bar down across the tracks????
People that run the gates for trains just has their license taken away permanently
Didn’t they see the gates down and lights flashing? I guess not. I’m glad no one was hurt though.
I saw a swat van on the left at the start
And I hope the person can recover from the train hit
An old man told me over 50 year’s ago that a car is a potential lethal weapon but trucks and trains are even more so
Hopefully the car driver’s insurance company refuses to pay for the damages to the car let alone the train
