I put enough oil to slightly cover the bottom of a pan size doesn't matter any pan nonstick or not. Let it get nice and hot then put your egg or eggs into the pan. Once the eggs start cooking take a spoon and use as a ladle to pour oil onto the yolk basting it to your satisfaction. Every Mexican does it this way for Generations. Put eggs onto a nice and warm corn tortilla with salt and pepper add a dab of hot sauce and eat up! About 7 usually hits the spot.

I'm sure a lot of people have pointed this out already, but this is just another way to make eggs sunny side up. In fact, I recommend this method for people like me who like their yolks a bit more done and their whites less burnt, although I've never thought to add water to the pan or baste the yolk with the water.
This method is better for keeping the yolk intact, and it also lets you season the top of your eggs in the lan without damaging the yolk, whereas with the over easy method you need to season the bottom of the egg after you flip it, because adding seasonings onto the yolk makes it more likely to break when flipping as the seasonings are shoved into the membrane and can cause it to rupture more easily.

  • @KingOfSpite

To everyone reading these comments: DO NOT USE THIS METHOD! This takes ages to cook the eggs and by the time the tops are even remotely set the yolks are hard and because of the water the consistency is terrible. Everything stuck to my pan, too.
You're better off preheating to medium heat then adding the butter and after it melts drop in the egg and cover. Without a flip you can still get a slightly runny egg but the bottom will always be set.
You're better off just learning how to flip them in a larger pan. One way to make it easier is to use egg rings for the first side and then after the whites set halfway, remove the ring. This will mostly keep the eggs from running all over your pan. If you keep the whites together like this it will cushion the egg on the flip and make it much less likely to break the yolk.

Not true. Depending on your cookware this may be the only way to make a runny egg without burning the edges or sticking to the pan. I cook mine on Medium Low heat, add water, and I get a perfect outcome everytime. If you cook them too long yes the yolk will boil, so just don't cook them too long. EASY PEASY.
