Bluegrass is the treasure U.S. has never exposed. I hope Americans will one day realize that bluegrass is their real culture and treat it with more respect, not only in Tennessee, but everywhere. Real rich, encultured and fantastic genre. Love from Italy.
you all probably dont care but does anybody know a method to log back into an Instagram account? I was stupid forgot the account password. I would appreciate any tricks you can give me!
I have enjoyed Bluegrass music since I was 10 years of age, I would sneak downstairs late at night ,turn on the battery radio very low so not to wake my parents, I would listen to WWVA West Virginia Bluegrass music It was just the BEST, and yes America should be proud of it and encourage it to the fullest. LK from Canada. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😊
I've grown up all my life with country / western music in our home. I have alot of favorites. But bluegrass was not as much in our home. 😢 When Ricky skaggs came out in the 80's with honey, country boy,... I loved his sound. Saw hin in the early 90's at the San Joaquin county fair one summer & he was smoking hot on the stage. As i grew up more, many of the songs i loved that was covered by Porter wagoner,... Were old bluegrass songs. Mind you i grew up in CA, so the Bakersfield sound, Texas swing,.. was more prevalent. Today, i now live in Kentucky ❤ and to have real country & bluegrass around me is the best.
I met Ricky at the Three Rivers Arts Festival (in Pittsburgh, PA) a few years back. He took the time to stick around for quite a while after the show and talk to fans, including me and my family. Very nice guy.
Can't get much better than Ricky Skaggs. The first song I ever heard was Don't Cheat in Our Hometown. I was hooked. Then he met The Whites and luckily married Sharon. He,s just a good guy and Great Artist.
I doubt there’s an honest person in the world who can listen to Ricky and not have their body tapping along somehow, someway. He just makes your body have to get up and celebrate it can move.
I thought I hated Bluegrass, until I heard Bruce Hornsby, Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder's live album Cluck Ol' Hen, and was blown away by the musicianship of these performers. Man, can they play!
A lot of people don't fully grasp what Ricky did for country music. It was all about Urban Cowboy in the early 80s. Thank you Skaggs, Strait, and Whitley
There instrumentals aren’t on another level The guitar player is top notch he never missed a lick ,I don’t think . He was hitting it so fast I couldn’t tell But I could tell what he hit was clear as a bell Ricky has an eye for talent Congratulations Ricky If they are giving anything to old school ,you surely deserved it ,which you do ! Glad they are going to give it while you’re still kicking
Get it Ricky. I've loved you for a long time. Kentucky thunder, is pretty damn cool too. I love the guy on the banjo. He wore a hat on a show that you did and boy you guys dress immaculate. Then again, most southern guys do. God bless you Ricky, you will never know what you mean to me.
❤ awsome..that sound of bluegrass ..founded by musicians like Ralph Stanley, lester flatt and Ricky's master Bill Monroe..so glad also that Ricky put his heart into this instead of comercial today's country
To see Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder in concert is an experience that you'll not soon forget... Each member of the group is an extremely talented soloist and together they play some of the best and truest bluegrass you'll ever hear!! They're the best in the land!!
I saw them live and they were great and they seem to get better with age. I have always heard that it takes a lifetime to master the bluegrass roll and now that Ricky is about 70, he is about to get it figured out.
Personally I can't say ANY one group or soloist is the BEST, there's just too many examples of awesomeness out there. Union station and Rhonda Vincent and the rage are two examples that come to mind, with that being said these folks round out the Holy Trinity of bluegrass
This brings tears to my eyes. I don't know why Ricky Skaggs & his band do that to me, but he is just magnificent. So is Paul Brewster...& everybody else. It is obvious he is loved within his band, his family & the audience, whichever clip I watch. He isn't a lot of hype, but flat out all for the music & looks like he was born standing on that stage with a mandolin in his hands.
There is an enormous amount of talent out there but I believe you would be hard pressed to find a group of musicians that can touch this ensemble, each one is truly outstanding, thank you guys it was mind blowing treat to the ears 🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼
Old Barns at 15:50 is such a joy to hear and to watch those hands and fingers flying up and down the neck. Truly sublime. Thank God we are alive to see this talent.
this is and will always be, the certified "Thunder".... with the one & only Paul Brewster (to the right of Ricky) guitar and vocals. Sadly, he doesn't travel anymore....wish him the best on the 'back 9'
He is, maybe, the best country musician ever. They say he can play every instrument better than anyone else in the band; that's probably an exaggeration, but the point is well taken. If you're in his band you are an all-star bluegrass musician.
As I watch this video , I am reminded of how much talent there is in the bluegrass community. Moreover , I am cognizant of the greatness of Ricky Skags and his deeply rooted love of his craft and the respect he has for fellow musicians. All great country and yes western music is rooted in bluegrass. Ricky shows us this. I believe that Ricky's talent is nurtured by his love of humanity and his creator. Ricky truly rocks. Paul in Canada
@@maryplaidy6814 "Monroe and Stanley approved." Don't forget Flatt & Scruggs, who I personally consider the pinnacle of Bluegrass. Ricky played with them and surely has their blessings as well.

It brings joy to my heart to hear this amazing group, the best of the best, play. Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder, the epitome of true bluegrass ( and more!)!!
I've loved Ricky Skaggs ever since the 80's. Saw him twice in concert, met him both times! Such a talent, ever since he was a small boy on stage at the age of 5, just a playing and singin with Bill Monroe

I heard them in Redding CA last night at the Cascade theater. This is the best band I've seen in a long time, and I go to A LOT of concerts. Rock, Jazz, R&B, Soul, .... I love any music with soul and this band delivered the goods. One of my favorite bands touring right now.

Every once in a while I want to hear some Bluegrass......I fill that need with one click- Ricky Skaggs. Why go anywhere else, he's the master.
He's a true son of the masters in spirit-Monroe and Stanley approved.
@Daniel McMillon That's the reason I keep my extensive music collection in tip-top shape. Took me 50 years to build it.
Well, this was posted a year ago.....I hope you have heard Billy Strings by now...LOL!!
