Lovely design, John. Again, I enjoy the mix of foliage, and the addition of the sedum does "lighten up" the arrangement, tho' those are some outstanding dahlias to be sure! You look as tho' you've lost weight. If so, and you've been trying, Bravo! Thank you for your talent, Friend. Beautiful!

Hi John. This arrangement took me way back to the first arrangement that inspired me to start arranging flowers myself. My uncle made a beautuful arrangement of dahlias and the tassles of the maize plants (all from my dad's garden). Thank you for sharing your expertise in such a kind way.🌻😀

I love watching how you approach the differently shaped containers. I’ve noticed, before, you tend to go heavier with blooms on the left side, lighter on the right, and wondered if that was intentional or not. Just an observation.
Thank you. I am right handed so maybe it’s to do with that - or it is always good to be slightly asymmetrical rather than perfect symmetry as it’s more natural. The first branches used tend to set the direction, so it depends what their natural lines are. 😀 Or maybe it’s me!
I agree. Asymmetrical arrangements is best. This is the reason why I like watching flower joos. I also like you using home grown flowers and chicken wire block. Keep up your good tutorial. thank you.

He was definitely a "him". The dahlia's are gorgeous. Again, you've made a work of art before adding the flowers! I absolutely love the rhubarb, the forsythia and especially the ivy. What is it about ivy? I'm really liking your new cages. Are they easier to use than the crumpled up wire that you sometimes use? I know you were able to take flowers out and put them back in--a definite plus when compared to foam. Thanks John--I love that you used your bread container too!
Thank you Lynne. I do like my foliage - the rhubarb just worked! I think the regularity of the cage frame is easier than just crumpled wire - you can easily insert and remove stems, whereas crumpled wire tend to have busy bits and empty bits, so it’s not as consistent. It’s quicker to fill a container with, but these frames one extra made are easy! Thanks for commenting and watching 😀🙋🏼♂️

Super pretty John! Dalias are so gorgeous and bring so much color. I’ll admit that I cringed a little when you said you cut your forsythia for the arrangement as those would’ve been some of your lovely spring yellow in your garden. Lucky what’s left will bloom from the bottom to top for you, being gorgeous as they are. Growing up they always signified spring to me. Love the container! 👏🌸
Thank you! The forsythia needed a trim as some of the bits were lying over the lawn, but loads left for spring! Yes, the bread bin is ideal - decided to retire it from bread use as we kept forgetting we had bread in it! Glad you liked the dahlias - they are gorgeous 🌼🌼🌼

Hi John, thought about You and this video last week when we received an arrangement last week. I am a receptionist now and we received a large garden style arrangement in foam. Three major problems with it. I wish I had taken a picture. 1) All the flowers were facing forward like soldiers in order. Roses grouped, but all looking forward sitting on top a row of hydrangeas. 2) Back was not greened up. All stems and a void were visible from my sitting spot. 3) Hydrangeas and Orchids not conditioned and wilted the next day. On day 2, I brought greens from my home garden and fixed the back for my sanity. On day 3, I removed the wilted flowers and rearranged it all, cutting all the stems fresh and it still died by day 6. A client spent a lot of money, and I am sure the Florist heard about their failure. Hopefully they refunded the sender.
That isn’t good - but luckily you looked after it. It should last more than 6 days - and it sounds like it wouldn’t have lasted 6 days without your help. Soft garden materials are not good listers but there is a fashion for using blooms in their full glory just now, but this doesn’t help. I think if I had to sit and look at something that was driving me mad I would change it as well. 😀
I hope you're safe over there? I hope this year brings happiness prosperity love and peace 🤍✨🕊️ all over the world 🙏🌍 I'm originally from Hamburg Germany, currently living in Key West Florida✨✨and you where are you from if i may ask?
